  1. I dont know how sunny it gets in Hong Kong , but it does make a difference here. That said, it doesnt always make a difference, in other words, it really depends on the camera and lens being used; if its a cheap lens or camera then it wont normally make a difference. Rory

    Geovision false alert reversal

Nah, thats where the custom companies come in, add on PCs to the GEO ... GEO is too mass marketted DVR ... i dont think theyll end up going too specialised or the cost of their cards and software will rise ..
  4. Actually 5fps is fine and was a standard for many years, and that was 5fps total ...

  9. Generally yes, and same goes for exview. But it also depends on the camera as not all are alike, there are many variations of Super HAD and Exview CCDs and they range from cheap to expensive, expensive being the better ones. As for the infrared that will depend on the camera, not all SuperHAD cameras are sensitive to all ranges of IR and typically the more expensive cameras will be able to use the Infrared better than a budget camera. For example where a Panasonic or GE Day Night camera may see up to 100' with an Infrared IR, a cheaper camera may only see 50' .. You;ve also gotta be careful as many cameras, especially bullets, that are labled as Day Nights on web sites these days, are not so, they are typically Color IR cameras, means they dont have mechanical IR Cut filters and are not very sensitive to IR at all. Also, we've got quite a few detailed threads here on SuperHad, Exview, Day Night, and Infrared, you might want to do a search on the Camera Forum with those search words. By the way, Johnb143 was spot on. Rory

man you asking a little too much for the cost of a Geo package .. i dont know the cost of that particular one but i know the GE 4 channel version is somewhere like $20K retail. .. What you'd do though with Geo is split the signal to the Geo out into a seperate system that just uses this motion devices software. But yeah it would be sweet if Geo ever did do that ..

A few problems: maybe you have solutions?

Check all connections, redo them all to be sure .. Check Power to each camera, make sure it is getting the correct voltage at least. Make sure the power supply/ies is/are in a good socket and getting enough high voltage. Put all power on at least a voltage regulator. Check the Cable .. what type of cable is used for the Video and Power, and approx max & min distances? Check each camera individually on a Spot Monitor. Either use a CCTV Monitor (9"), or a 13" TV. If not worried about quality then just use anything that has a composite input such as an LCD with an RCA input. Also, no idea on that DVR, do you know the actual manufacturer? Where did you buy it? Rory
  15. not sure about alerting when there is sound .. that would be alot of messages ... but the Geo does have a hotline feature for the modem .. see attached image .. ive never used it myself though.

    License plate cameras

if there is alot of light then you can try a wide dynamic box camera like the Panasonic Day Night SD3, then need a 5-50mm lens, housing, and alot of hours spent installing and tweaking in day and night .. you could add Infrared, but its gotta be the exact amount, not too much or too little or you would get glare or nothing at all. And even then you may only get the plate 50% of the time, even Extreme's cameras dont guarentee 100% capture. Whats is the application and lighting there?
  17. The GV800 is 120fps total while the GV250 is 20fps total .. / 4 cameras ..

  20. A plot to blow up planes in mid-flight from Britain to the US has been disrupted, UK police have said. "It is thought the plan was to detonate explosive devices smuggled on aircraft in hand luggage." "This would have surpassed 9/11" "Police have arrested about 18 people in the London area after an anti-terrorist operation lasting several months. " "Britain's Home Secretary John Reid said the alleged plot was significant and that terrorists aimed to bring down a number of aircraft through mid-flight explosions, causing a considerable loss of life." "Passengers will not be allowed to take any hand luggage on to any flights in the UK, the department said." "Only the barest essentials - including passports and wallets - will be allowed to be carried on board in transparent plastic bags. " "David Learmount from Flight International Magazine said he expected passengers to be searched much more carefully." "He added: 'This is the first time this measure has actually been taken. Certainly I've never seen hand luggage banned.' " SIDENOTE: The US is following suit on this and all hand luggage on US Flights will be banned for now. Also all arrested were British Muslims, and Police are still looking for 2 persons. Terrorist Plots were planned for as much as 6 flights outgoing to the US from London, Glascow, Birmingham, and Machester. They involved Possible Liquid Explosives and British Persons of Pakistani Origin. 2 Terrorists are still at large hence the additional security measures. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4778575.stm http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/08/10/uk.terror/index.html http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14278216/ http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,207682,00.html

Help with planning a Geo DVR setup

Cool, yeah im getting around 9 days on 640x480 high quiality setting on a 16ch 1480 with 13 cameras, set to motion only ... they are a night clubn so they eat up space when open 4 nights a week, and staff is onsite 24/7 so there is always motion somewhere ... its 750GB ...so you should be fine .. Just set up the 10Gb when you format, then when in windows set up the other partitions. .. you just create a folder in each one and name them like Video#1, Video#2, etc .. name doesnt matter just need a folder.

    DVD signal vs CCTV cam

Most high res 480 - 520TVL cameras should be 811 H x 508 V (NTSC).. With the lower res 380TVL being at 542 H x 492 V (NTSC) Other factors are lens focal setting and the cable being used.
