8.02 is just an upgrade, you need 8.01 or another earlier full version installed first.

    4ch dvr and pico2000

Cant speak for the Nova cards, but never had a single issue with the legit Geo cards .. Plus they dont cost as much as people think, their pricing is actually very good, especially when matching pricing with stand alone systems, and waying the quality, simple setup, and features included. They have budget versions which use the same Full Geo software, and can be price compared to the cheap cards like Nova, Digiflower, etc. But with much better software.

I though I did my homework before my purchase.

Well the bottom one is the EX82 from extreme, which is just the 4-8mm lens and 30 degree beam .. IR out to 100' depending on reflection surfaces. The other one was a Sanyo Day Night Box camera, a weatherproof housing, Computar 2.9-13.5mm Varifocal AI lens, and a single Extreme CCTV UF100 60 degree IR Illuminator. However im redoing some of the other ones using that Sanyo setup, as the lenses werent IR Optimized DN lenses, the Housings (GE) had issues with rain, the backlighting was intense when IR was on or there is too much IR. This one in the image is the only one that didnt have serious issues, though i am taking out the UF100 and replacing it with 2 EX26LEDs to shorten the IR and also to be able to get the IR around that bush in the image. The others, we are working on that this weekend. PS, those arent the original images, they are solarised to show the IR beam ... check this one out with a UF500. (pitch dark - see small light source top right 3/4 way up but thats on the road somewhere) and yeah thats a dog ..
  4. LOL, street sweepers ... man i havent seen one of them since i was last in the US ...

you're going to need at least a 3mm 1/3" lens for that width ... which is going to be hard to find, actually you wont find any Day night all in one camera with Infrared and a lens like that, you'll have to do what i did, use a day night box camera in a housing, with a 2.9-12mm lens, then use seperate infrared, which for that you will need at least dual 30 degree beams, but to do full 90 degree coverage you'll need 1x60 degree and 1x30 degree. Bottom line is that it wont be cheap to do what you want, as for the full IR coverage you will need somelike like the IR from Extreme CCTV .. Examples of Beams with Edited Solarised Images: 60 degree beam - 3mm lens (90 degrees) 30 degree beam - 4mm lens (60 degrees)
  6. LOL you need to check most of the homes around here .. typically there are no garages so all cars are parked in the yard or on the road .. or on the walkway. ... where they exist .. i mean most of the cars are just $500 imported from japan wrecks so a family of 20 living in 1 home could have like 5-10 cars .. hey they maybe poor but dont mess with their ride ..

    Lens Comparison. Aspherical

Yep and that day night lens is pretty cheap now adays ... also remember with the telephoto lens when you zoom in, less light is passed into the camera, though the 5-50's are also typically less sensitive as well .. what zoom is that BTW? Also, is that the pano with external IR?
  9. The TX and RX will need to go outside, and point them directly at each other. They also will need to be at a height above any obstacles such as trucks, trees, etc. Metal will most definately block the signal. You can go through bush, leaves, etc, but then that breaks down the distance of the signal, and theres a small chance that it will actually work most of the time. Water also cuts down/blocks the signal (trees contain water). If you want guarenteed (almost) 99% of the time video without or limited inteference then you want direct line of site with no obstacles at all. Use 900Mhz if you have to punch through walls, or 5.8 ghz for line of sight video.

    Need camera suggestions

probably the WZ in this case, but that said, i wouldnt use either of them, there are better choices for the price. PS. replaced the retail links with manu links due to the rules.
  11. Are you talking about GeoVision? If So, no, not that I know of. You can download my Geo Remote Software though as it will do this for you, and its free. Rory

    tempest dvrs

Switch it for a Video card with RCA if you want ... ATI have some .. or likle i said use a SVid - RCA Convertor .. they cost like $25 down here though ...
  13. What voltage are they powered on (12VDC or 24AC) and what are the camera models and types?
  14. i think that is against the law.. .. they probably need a court order from a judge to start with.

Is the SVideo on the DVR card or the Video Card? Also, you can get an S-Video-RCA adaptor, then you plug the RCA cable into that. If the CCTV monitor has BNC then use a RCA-BNC ... though it would be best to buy a CCTV monitor which has SVideo as that will be slightly better quality, and you will loose slightly in the 2 conversions.
  16. Im with Rapid, ive used others including GE's but im going back to Pelco now .. ive also used OEMs in the past but they dont match the quality and weather resistance of names like GE and Pelco ..

    Wide Dynamic Range Camera?

i hear ya, but have you seen the picture it produces? and heck its not made in china. and whats up with the ge cams now coming out of china? i quess the bosch is made in portugal. GE has a plant in Taiwan (last i saw, been a while, could be china now who knows), Bosch also has their cams made in Asia. Both use Sony from Japan and components from China, Taiwan, and Korea. Pano, Sanyo, and Ganz are all in Japan .. highest quality

    1,000 metre zoom lens

interesting indeed ... send me one , ill pay yah later colors a lil weird but still impressive ... Ive seen the starlight camera under a couple smaller name brands over the last couple years (never with a demo though), wonder if this is the same camera? Toshiba finally got a decent camera in their line (dont worry i know they got some machine vision ones also ) Still think he needs to charge $150K for the camera he is "building" to view people's faces at 2000 metres

    1,000 metre zoom lens

i really doubt its that lux level, as that doesnt exist. Thats one of those budget specs ... Now if they want to back it up, then they need to post some images and video ... cause noones gonna spend $8K on their word ... Toshiba's not exactly the pro in the cctv name

ip vrs. dvr meeting in 3hrs

Quality, Bandwidth, are they going to spend for the bandwidth required to get any kind of decent quality with IP? Higher quality IP cameras are more than 4 times the cost of a high quality CCTV Camera. IP software does not yet match that of DVR software, unless they are in the CIA and can afford $100K for just the software. Are they going to record all 40 cameras on one PC? Are they going to watch all 40 cameras on one monitor? Consumer wise it is Milestone, but still that doesnt match say the Geovision or even alot of stand alones such as Ge. luxriot is okay also. Ive looked at others which claim to be big sellers, and arent cheap, all in one systems, but they typically arent even as good as Milestone. Then there's the hardware. Basically if they have hundreds of cameras it would be worth it, to an extent. Though personally i only see a real use in our type of business for IP, when it is Wireless with more than 16 cameras, or temporary installations ...
