Looks good, what about night time though? Remember it gets darker as you zoom in telephoto. Are you going to use some form of long range Infrared?

actually it worked for me once ... its a car panic alarm though, not an actual car alarm .. anything that makes loud noise is good, doesnt mean it will stop the burglar or save a life, but neither will a home burglar alarm system .. they are all just pieces of a puzzle called security .

Its the compression, either in the software, or the firmware on hardware, depends on the DVR. With a budget DVR its lucky to have Mpeg4 even. I wouldnt bet on that 20 to 3 day ratio though ..

http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/solution/GV-CV2_Intro.htm The pro version cost$$ and handles more sites/cameras, while the regular version comes with the DVR card. -
MPEG4 or H.264 hardware comp. for viewing LIVE via DSL?
rory replied to ICUUCME's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I use Center2 with Geovision for offsite storage, mostly for video verification, but if they want it, we offer it. Been running it for 1 month now with a couple remote test sites and it works well. The attachment quality is not that of the local DVR, but its good enough for verification. Also email testing worked well. Video is only sent on motion detection, but can be brought up manually at any time. There are also other configurations. There are also confirgurations on the DVR side for the Center2 connection. -
Hi, those are Color CMOS WebCams, you wont be able to use IR with them.

everytime you change a view it reconnects .. which was the primay reason i wrote my software, LiveVue Geo..

MPEG4 or H.264 hardware comp. for viewing LIVE via DSL?
rory replied to ICUUCME's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
There is a huge difference. Typically those "webcams" are very little quality, the software compresses it to death, and the image size is tiny. Also, you arent using it for security purposes. You can generally record with wavelet or Mpeg4, and stream with a seperate codec such as H.264, which will be faster, but lower quality. Mpeg4 is a good medium. Though it really does differ from one DVR to the next. BW is a smaller image and so will be faster, as it takes up less bandwidth. Upload speed requirements will differ from one DVR to the next so you will have to check the different DVRs first, as well as know how many cameras you are looking to stream at one time, in one multi view window. This all matters. Standard DSL typically wont be great, in fact in our country DSL is useless for remote video. You really want an upload speed of 256 and up, at the least. -
The GV250 will work, most brand's budget card versions would work, but typically when you get over 30fps, need Intel or SIS

Baluns arent that great anyway, good for short distance and budget jobs, for higher quality, interference rejection and ground loop protection .. NVT active hardware. As for robzee67 issue, i think you were just lucky .. ive had horible quality at only 150' with passive baluns and cat5.

You dont have to disable anything, just use the Video Card clone option .. He can also try DMPos.exe located in the Geo Main folder.

WizKid Day night's dont have IR cut Filters so the colors will be washed out and some even B/W in full sunlight.

Just general glare from the garage florescent lighting when it is dark and the IR is on ... like its backlighting almost .. as to the camera, im talking about this one .. WV-CW374 Client has $$ and wants the best .. the Sanyo's are great but not the best Also, biggest problem we've had has been condensation in the housings ... even an Extreme EX26 we tested at the shop got condensation, and an old EX82 we just found with condensation after 5 years, so hoping the Pano might be better ... IR will be the existing and a couple new UF100's, and a couple EX26LEDs to replace one of the existing UF100's. Basically its a Revamp for a couple cameras as the IR is okay, but could be better (UF500's & UF100's in place are too much IR for example), also want to use IR Optimized Lens if possible .. ill have to check that camera for that as well, if not then probably just change the [GE] housings for pelco, use the Pano 484 Box cam with IR Optimized Lenses, and then maybe a couple Pelco Housings ..

and Ark Surveillance is Northerns biggest reseller hey you ever tried the panasonic all in one day night camera? wondering how it works with Infrared... want to change the Sanyo's out and there are UF100'sthere .. there is alot of glare from garage lighting in one area which is why i was looking for the wide dynamic

motion detection with annunciator
rory replied to jisaac's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
you could use a siren voice driver with a loud siren, then either use that along with an outdoor Optex Motion Detector or Beam, tied into an alarm system, or use a relay and backup battery, altronix power supply with sufficient Amps, and trigger the relay output to the Siren and Voice Driver with the Motion or Beam .. Example of a Voice Driver.. http://www.stealthlabs.com/sirendrivers.html -
