Another Time Lapse + Multiplex Tape Issue
rory replied to maxhollm's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
if you have an AVI file i can split it up for you ... probably. Rory -
the thing is Infrared Can work against you in most cases, it has to be exact as to how much IR is being placed in the Plate, if there is too much IR, such as a power full bulb at a close distance, you wont see anything but glare. Extreme's Reg line not only puts out only the neccassary IR at specific distances (depending on which camera you order for which distance), but the camera itself does alot more. They also place a dark tinted glass plate infront of the camera to cut out as much light as possible. You can get a pretty decent result with something like a Wide Dynamic camera such as the pano, Bosch models, with only enough IR or True light placed on the area of Capture .. a dark black tint (almost pitch dark) also helps. If using certain IRs like the UF100 (too much IR for close up though) you can use higher spectrum filters to cut back the amount Of IR produced, as well as a wider lens and also "tapping" the power supply to adjust the IR power outage. For closer capture you could use smaller IR Leds .. you only need enough for it to reflect .. some camera adjustments are also required. Course Extreme's setups for Reg simply work out the box. .. makes life easier.. Rory

They have a remote playback client for that. Unfortunately most demos wont give a guest access to that. Remote playback is an area Geo can certainly do some more work on. Local Software wise they are loaded with features. Milestone is nice, though only for IP systems. Geo currently doesnt support IP cameras, unless you use a decoder to convert to CCTV at the DVR side. Otherwise there is Video Insight for that type of "hybrid" application. Rory

Their prices are not retail pricing, so we dont recommend end user's buying from them, ofcourse. There is an authorised Geovision Distributor's banner at the top of this forum, specifically for end users (and dealers), their support is top notch, and they come highly recommended. Note: Any company or website that puts dealer pricing on their web site for end users to purchase, are doing a dis-service to the industry and IMO should not be allowed to purchase those products from the manufacturer in the first place, and in fact should NOT be in the industry. Also please note we delete all links (or anything with their name in it) to web sites with non retail pricing. Not singling anyone out in particular, just thought i would reiterate it. Thanks Now that said if you really want to buy from one of those sites, its entirely up to you. We still provide support on this forum, once the product is not a clone

use a seperate PC. and also use specific LPR cameras. Motion works fine with decent LPR cameras, eg. Extreme. We get it 100% of the time ourselves, though in this particular case we arent using the Geovision LPR software, just the DVR. Also we have a speed bump .. if you dont want to rely on the motion record then use a simple Optex Photobeam.

Hmmm .. were they on any type of voltage regulation? I think the tubes can get damaged from brownouts, spikes, low voltage, etc.. though im not 100% sure on this ..

typically still good even after 5 years .. what was the brand ?

rory replied to GECAMGUY's topic in Security Cameras
i think they were sent to our PM's by accident .. -
Yep never used them, and only OEMs sell them .. but please let us know how you get on with it .. ive looked for manuals but they dont seem to exist I imagine a plunger cord of some sought, like used with alarms on doors ... i only mentioned locksmith as they typically have the tools for the door that us techs dont have The bulky BNC cables i saw though in that one diagram doesnt look promising ... Perhaps ill email one of the asian manufacturers and see what they expect us to do Rory

1/3" is better. Typical Difference is that 1/3" at 4mm is a wider view than 1/4" at 4mm. You also have to look at the chip being used, alot of 1/4" budget cameras use Sharp 1/4" Chips, some even Cmos instead of CCD, which makes for a very degraded image, and even moreso, no low light capabilities. Another thing, with Sony 1/3" Chips there are many variations, the more they cost the better the chip is. BW is always better in low light than any day night all in one camera, no matter the brand or how much it costs. Infrared helps but in the lower priced cameras it doesnt make much of a difference. Instead of using the Color IR cameras (which are typically not True Day Night Cameras) Exview BW would be a much better choice. If you want a decent Day Night at least make sure it has a Mechanical IR Cut Filter; so colors in the daytime are not washed out from the Infrared produced by the sun. Note: In the North this may not matter as much, down here though, without an IR Cut Filter the color camera is a BW Image anyway, in full sunlight. If the camera has a fixed lens you can change the lens yourself, if it is a Bullet or Dome camera with a varifocal lens, you will definately not want to mess with the lens. All cameras such as Domes and Bullets are CS mounts these days, but once again, pay no attention to that as you will not want to touch the lens unless it is a fixed lens. Even if it is a fixed lens you should order the correct focal length when you buy the camera unless you know how to adjust them properly. Correct. See #1 BW at least 420TVL or higher, Color at least 380TVL or higher, you can go lower but quality will not be good. If you go higher resolution, quality will be even better, especially with evidence sharing (though this still depends on the DVR and Settings used). Rory

New Geovision DVR install need alittle or alot of advise!!!
rory replied to 4runner's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Is Overlay Enabled on the Geo software? Also, this doesnt look like version 8.0 software, unless you manually set the theme back to the old one... Twist on Connectors will give you the same quality. So thats not the issue, if anything if they werent put on correctly you may get a ground issue, same with crimp ons. If its RG59 Siamese then that should not be an issue also. Some of the cheaper cable though can bend and snap easily. but that will show other problems not video quality. If you install and setup Ultra VNC i can log onto the DVR and make sure the Geo software is setup properly. Also, use ViewLog and save some images as a Bitmap, post them here or email them to me. That will be easier to work with than the images above. Rory -
gor bad quality images, I want crisp clear images!

Out of your price range but Sanyo has a nice new Vandal Dome called the Pan Focus, very good Day Night Dome at a decent price. Low light in BW Mode will never be as good as an actual BW Camera, but it does okay. No washed out colors such as in your images as it has a mechanical IR Cut Filter. Panasonic has the good Wide Dynamic Domes and Box cameras for applications such as this where there can be glare from the car lights. They are much more expensive than the Sanyo though. Are you trying to see licence plates or just a general view of the gate? One problem i can see is not only the cameras being used, but that DVR typically wont give you the best quality.
