Perhaps it takes up the whole screen .. non moveable .. ?
-
Hmmm .. maybe it comes with the CD when you buy the DVR .. but there is no download from their Web Site .. in other words I cant get it .. Anyways .. im making my own .. Huhhh .. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/GeoRemoteAdmin.asp

You should manually set an IP Address for the DVR .. dont use DDNS for that part. If its PC based goto Control Panel, Networking, TCP/IP, and enter the info there, it will be the Wireless Routers information for Subnet and Gateway. Also add the DNS info for your ISP.

Control Center doesnt come with it, costs extra.

Router A - HardWire Router Router B - Wireless Router Router A: Static IP Assigned or DDNS. ok .. he lost me here though .. "The distance from the entry of my house to my monitor is about 35 feet. So, the total distance from the camera to the monitor is about 1,110 feet" if its over 1000', best he go with active NVT then ..
-
Like i said .. 35 feet .. all you need is RG59 Siamese .. you can buy this from any electrical store. (copper solid center and copper shield)
-
Just get some RG59 Siamese Cable .. 35 feet is a breeze .. no need for amplifiers at that distance .. now if you already have twisted pair running to the gate use that, but get some decent RX and TXs for it .. quality typically isnt as good as RG59 unless you use amplified though for longer distances .. but 35 feet should be as good. LCDs are just not as good quality as a CRT in any application, its the technology is all. And if it is a composite signal (CCTV-Bnc/RCA) it is 5-10 times worst quality .. CCTV CRT monitors are the highest quality for CCTV cameras .. but ofcourse more bulky .. Anyway I think JIssac summed it up ..

Hmmmm .. most you cant do it from the live video. But from Playback you can .. use the built in software to save as image ... or do print screen and paste into something like Paint Shop Pro ... then cut the images you want and save as JPEG.

Automatic Voltage Regulation ..

LOl .. yeah the guys here sell them .. they have a few really decent products .. but their Outdoor domes arent one of them .. its the same with most OEM brands .. they sell OEM from Taiwan .. etc .. actually they started pushing some S Korean now so the product has got better depending on what you buy .. their Exview BW Bullet and Color 350TVL 596 Bullets are the best (bang for buck) .. and their IR Bullet (557HIM) is better than the new Extreme WZ bullets .. ive seen the indoor IR domes, they work and are a decent image .. everything else is pretty much you get what you pay for .. simply its no different from what any other OEM company in the US sells .. but yeah they really gotta do something about those Vandal Domes .. my colleague here bought a bunch of them for stock and cant sell them .. horrible image .. in other words, you gotta test the product before you sell it .. well that seems to go for any manufacturer now .. especially Extreme CCTV! (dealers here know what i mean) BTW the power boards on the cheaper products dont have any kind of surge protection built in and tend to get damaged much easier .. so best to always have them on an AVR. Then again, even the WizKids died and they were on a UPS with AVR .. so hmmmm ... .. Rory

Curious, was it an indoor dome or outdoor? (model number) Also how old was it, and are the cameras on some form of voltage regulation? Rory

Does anyone have any experience with this DVR ..? Someone emailed me asking about how to change the HDD and replace the software, as I know nothing of this DVR, thought Id ask and see .. thanks Rory

I believe they just want to upgrade the current HDDs .. i know how the GEs work, but not sure on this one .. whether the OS is on the HDD or on Chip.

What are the best covert or indoor cameras?
rory replied to acceleratebiz's topic in Security Cameras
I said there may be .. but i dont personally know of any .. -
2 Pairs ..? If so perhaps switch to the other 2 pairs and try that .. if still doing it maybe get 2 new 213s or use from another camera. They have Transient Protection and interference rejection built in, but maybe look at the 652 and 653 which are amplified (these 213's were working before though right?) .. last resort would be to run new cable somehow .. or if that is impossible .. go wireless .. though i know thats not exactly easy also .. nor inexpensive .. Another route would be to invest in a video meter and test the signals coming back to the system .. if its a DVR it is much more tempermental in regards to the signal .. a weak signal can show directly on a Monitor with less issues, if any, but once you plug it into a DVR system, if the signal is weak it will be much worse.

What are the best covert or indoor cameras?

Hi, like i said in a previous post, Day Night in a "decent" hidden camera is pretty much not done .. best to stick to BW if it is going to be low light .. Some OEM no names may have it in a Color IR version, but its up to you, most of those dont look like any detectors we use on this side of the globe. These are the ones i use, as they look cosmetically much better than the OEM ones . and they have decent warranties for those that use them .. http://www.gesecurity.com/portal/site/GESecurity/menuitem.f76d98ccce4cabed5efa421766030730?selectedID=719&seriesyn=false&t=prod Ge: WizKid: -
Ok thanks .. someone emailed me to ask about it .. if you get any info Id appreciate it .. thanks Rory

First Setup, Babies room setup and Mudulator & ip video
rory replied to smmcconn's topic in System Design
A decent IP Server isnt cheap. Id just set up a PC for this and a card, and run the cables back to that, then there you goto the RF Modulator .. run a cable to where the Cable TV Signal comes into the home, and split it there. Best quality however would be a seperate video cable to each TV instead of a RF mod. With the PC DVR, you will get higher quality and (depending on the card) faster recording and live view. You can still watch this on your network (or remotely) while not comprimising quality of the recording. First thats not a Sony Camera, they are OEM and they use Sony Chips is all You will see a slight glow as the OEM cameras do not generaly see anything above 840nm .. 950nm for example, is invisible Infrared. There are 3 types: 730/750nm, 830/850nm, 930/950nm (nano metres) - brightest to invisible. The more invisible the IR the less IR is produced. The invisible type also require IR optimized cameras which are typically not found with OEM cameras. Brands such as Extreme CCTV make cameras specifically for this purpose, and are also optimized for Infrared Lighting, but they are very expensive. You can also find cameras from brands such as GE and Sanyo which will work up to 1100nm (with invisible IR), typically found in their Box or Dome models, and still require IR as an add on from another brand like Extreme. So to end, basically if its a Bullet camera such as what you have, there will always be a slight glow, unless you buy a specific 900+nm Camera. Some big brands actually give the Spectrul Response (works with which nano metres) in their specs, but it is rare. Rory -
You can use Windows Movie Maker to convert an AVI to a WMV file .. this can make an 800MB 720x480 AVI file as small as 80MB. Rory

or you can cut the wire and splice them together .. black from the camera side to braided side on the cable, red on the camera side to the wire with the jacket on the cable side. I would use 24VAC over 12VDC though, and in that case, polcarity does not matter.
-
Sounds like maybe a wire issue ..are you using all the pairs on that cat5? Also, what model number is the NVT? Rory
-
Lol .. i pull the plug all the time .. plus we have power outages every other day and I dont have a UPS .. its generally okay .. worst case scenerio ive had to use the DB Repair a couple times .. glad its back up though ..

Ive used audio recorded on many jobs .. it does have its flaws though and eats up extra HDD space .. down here though you dont even have to tell anyone they are being recorded .. video or audio.
