Take the card out, put it back in .. see what happens, if it still does it, try another slot .. still does it uninstall all geo drivers and the software, delete the main geo folder .. delete the Geo*.ini files in windows directory ... then restart and see what happens .. if you are unsure of the files let me know .

Well finally upgraded .. Okay so does anyone else see how crappy the H264 and Mpeg4 quality is for recording, and even moreso the webcam streaming ..? Darn .. ill never used those they are horrible .. Another thing .. with the combo cards .. in 720x480 and using webcam .. there are black edges around the video .. anyone know how to get rid of that ..? It was like that before in V704 thought they'd fixed it in this version .. guess not .. Rory

Finally from GeoVision .. "Regarding your question with black edge in this resolution, after confirm with our engineer again, for combo card(1480,1240,1120) spec, it'll display black edge in 720 x xx0 resolution, we're afraid that it'll not be able to solve for the spec limitation." Another thing i didnt get back to them on yet, but with the combo cards and Version 8.0 it is no longer Fast Mpeg4, just Geo Mpeg4 and Geo Mpeg4(ASP). However I have Fast Mpeg4 with my GV250 and version 8..

Desperately need a great complete nanny-cam solution
rory replied to acceleratebiz's topic in General Digital Discussion
Im sure someone will jump in and PM you on the retail side. As for specs, I would steer away from wireless since you already have all that in your home now. But if you dont mind the signal dropping here and there, then no worries .. with hard wired though, you can always leave the cable when you move and just pull the cameras .. we use to pull out alarm systems all the time, caulked all holes and good as .. well almost, as new .. If anything you will want to use Dual Video/Power Cables .. the RG59 or RG59 Siamese Cable is much better, but if the cameras are inexpensive anyway, the RCA Dual Video/Power should suffice. To use the network to connect cameras, you will need WebCams or IP cameras/IP Servers .. IP cameras and servers are expensive .. and webcams dont cut it. Stay clear of H.264, Regular Mpeg4 is better. Some PC DVRs have both options selectable. Some also allow H264 for remote video with Mpeg4 or other for Local video (eg. GeoVision) I think the System would be the most important to get right the first time, cameras .. you can always buy more expensive ones later once you get a feel for things. Only cameras that have audio built in are generally the very cheap ones, though these can work for a simple nanny cam app. Remember though the DVR is only as good as the cameras connected to it ... For a higher quality system, You could get some B/W GE Hidden cameras .. these look really nice too and look like actual detectors .. most no name Hidden cameras can do the job also, just dont look as "nice" And add audio using Louroe Ceiling Mount mics .. that with a DVR of choice should cover it .. B/W would be for low light areas... only use color if there is alot of light in the area. There really are no decent hidden cameras with Day Night switching. For DVRs .. Look for GeoVision, Video Insight .. well there are more but thats the ones our members use the most .. If you are going GeoVision and want some decent speed, look at the GV800-8 channel .. its 120fps .. so that would be fine for 5 cameras . .. near real time, and more real time with motion. -

Didnt know they were pirating Pico too .. ill check their site out .. thanks .. -
Here is a replacement for that logo .. which by default looks whack .. this one is just plain black for now, ill make more later on. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/geo/camlogo.bmp if you dont use the FBR program then just copy and paste this into the default Geo ComRes folder (not ComRes 1024 or 1028, just plain ComRes) Tip. You can use the FBR program from the 7.1 beta also, just copy and paste the FBR folder into the Geo folder. Once ive gone through it all a lot more ill post some more stuff, and maybe some new programs. Though that may not be until I get a UPS, as during "black sunday" a couple weeks ago I lost a lot of code i was working on.

First thing to do is take one of the cameras off the DVR and plug it into a CCTV Monitor or TV. Watch it on that in sunlight and see if it still goes red. If it doesnt, then its a DVR issue, if it does, then you know its a problem with the cameras. What type of cameras are they? -
Weird. that UPS has AVR specifically .. Could just be a bad batch of cameras .. i recently had a bunch of domes come in and one of them just up an died a week or so later and was on a UPS with AVR also .. how long were they installed before this happenned? Normally most faulty cameras will die in the beginning rather than down the road .. also, are you sure the Power suppy is putting out the right amount of amps ..?
-
Does the UPS have Automatic Voltage Regulation Built in, or is it just a standard UPS?
-
yeah i even got the black edges in viewlog when was h264 and 720x480 ...

Oh boy .. and i all bitten right now from tonight and last night .. http://www.jonesbahamas.com/?c=45&a=9093

Got this from Geo .. but im sure I was getting it in 720x480 on the 1480 with Geo Mpeg4 also .. --------------------------------------------- Regarding your question with H.264 and 720x480 recording, we're afraid that this will be the spec limitation, because the H.264 will not fully cover in the following resolution: 320x240 720x240 720x480 720x480(De-interlace) so, you'll get the black edge in these resolution. --------------------------------------------------

Check out Sanyo if you want to save $$ and still have a decent product .. cant vouch for them but they have good reviews. Yes 2 different Samsung Companies .. the Techwins IMO are better all around .. a couple of their products are the same, Techwin's box cameras typically are made in S Korea and the DVR used to be (may have changed) a Webgate Inc DVR .. same thing Hunt sells for cheaper . .. and also bosch has a custom version .. for more .. The GE DVRMe Pros and Version 2's are much more $$ than the other versions .. not worth it IMO .. I'd just go with a StoreSafe .. or add an 'o' on the end

Wireless Network then. Point to Point Wirless network I guess. What's the Point to Point with no bandwidth? Everything has to be able to utilize some type of bandwidth? I know it is the way to go if you are close enough Its real time video and no network .. high quality uncompressed . .. Close enough .. LOL . try 20 miles ..
-
Point to Point Real Time video does not have bandwidth. Sounds like you are talking about Networked Wireless??

Its arrived here now .. ! apparently it was found in a haitian immigrant at the detention center, as well as 2 tourists apparently took it back to the US and Canada .. if they get bit by a mosquito of the right type, that can spread it to others .. not sure if they have that type in the US or canada but we have them here for sure ..

Thing is, it doesnt do it on my GV250 in 720x480 .. just with the 1480 .. always did .. Also .. with the 8.0 software .. in Video Settings Advanced .. the Brightness, Contrast, etc Levels are mixed up .. in other words on my GV250 by default it is all centered on 128 .. but on the 1480 it is like 150, 130, 160, etc .. if I adjust it it messes up the video .. is this just a 1480 issue .. and is it normal ..??
-
thats GVI . .the crappy samsung .. check out the Samsung Techwin .. http://www.samsungcctv.com/product/file_data/CTV/20060328_0_SVR-1650-FS-R.jpg

RG6 or RG59? And is this for color or BW video ..? I think max for RG59 is like 1200' for BW and 1500' for Color, while RG6 is like 1800' for color .. but you loose quality at those distances without an amplifier .. 700' would be fine for either cable, if you arernt happy with the quality loss though you could always add an amp. Make sure if you do use RG6 its solid copper center and copper braid cable (Not Cable TV cable) or you could have issues down the road ..

anyway, is the question answered so we can move on ..? Pirate cards are an issue for sure, Kodicom & Anykeeper more than any. Geo has email set up for this so let me know i can post that and you can get a response from them on the Geo Pirate issue at least. lastly, If someone buys any of these cards from China they can pretty much be guarenteed they are Pirated.

Sounds like hs is just someone that is looking to make money to me .. Kind of like MS saying upgrade to XP as its faster than ME or 98 LOL ... yeah right .. can you say shares in the hardware companies ... But then again im not making databases for the CIA ... its almost as incorrect as saying .net is better than classic ASP or VB6 ..
