    choose DVR Cards

I could not get your viewer demo to connect. Looks interesting. I would like to check it out. But is the quality the same as the DSP output? http://demo1.cctvbuyers.com/240/240? What are you referring to? Right its 240/240, while the GV-1480 is 480/480 ..
  2. It can be done by Ethernet just the same way the IP system would be viewed .. you would control the bandwith the same way you are doing it for IP .. Im talking about CCTV now so I wont get into the network administrators job .. But you can also send to monitors or other UTP hubs or muxes at viewing locations or near them ... so they wont even need to use the network. basically you can do anything .. if they have cat5 running for the network or whatever, all you need to do is find spare pairs .. Ideally they wont be monitoring it through the network on the property, as you would want real time high quality video with no possible drawbacks. If this is a security application you would not want 20 users monitoring the system anyway, especially over the network, just the security and perhaps management checking in, though they would not have to do this through the network. If anything a remote CMS would need network monotoring on certain events. there are many ways for controlling the DVRs also, attaching muxes or whatnot .. you can control for example muxes up to 10,000 feet plus with a single keyboard over twisted pair (eg. GE), or loop them with either multiple muxes or multiple keyboards .. soo many things and all would be high quality video and no bandwidth issues. I know what your saying, just add in a camera and boom its got its own ip .. but its not high quality real time motion video ... Ive seen most of the IP software and hardware 1st and 3rd party companies on the web and havent found any software that wasnt really cheesy .. not to mention most of them dont make the hardware themselves ofcourse .. most dont even have the compression down yet, Acti was one of the few that had low bandwidth for real time video, but still bandwidth issues and low quality can occur. Id still use IP if it was a large wireless install, and i have quoted it before, for that reason, though i still didnt use IP cameras as they would not work in the locations, just video servers and switches. Anyway, thats how i feel on the issue ..
  3. The network would be at the DVR side .. simply assign Users in the DVR software .. Otherwise Recording will be on the DVRs in high quality Real Time not effected by bandwidth issues at all ..
  4. UTP doesnt use Ethernets so no bandwidth Issues ... Relocation would be the same, you are using the same cable .. Only diff is you can plug the IP camera into an existing hub .. Yep forgot though .. IP = Bandwidth Issues .. And if you want any kind of decent quality you need $2000+ Cameras, Really Expensive Network Setup, and then you still have those bandwidth issues .. UTP is real time, just like using Coax, and same quality. Essentially UTP Active is a cheaper alternative to Fiber .. Im sticking to the UTP way as its still CCTV .. for now .. Decent IP software cost a fortune though, like Milestone .. And they still dont match the DVR software ...
  5. Okay .. Fiber to UTP Tranceivers (you can even loop UTP Transceivers to gain much more than 1.5 miles), cat5 to each camera just as you are talking about .. you will still have cables to each camera whichever method you use. If you are talking about looping from one camera to the next, yes you can do that with 1x multi pair, but when 1 wire goes down before each camera, all those cameras after that wire, go down, never has been very secure for a security system, though we still do it with alarms, but only if we cant run 1 wire to each location (suggested). Or are you talking about Wireless IP, which is the only application i currently see worth using IP for .. Back to wired, lets look at price .. 10 Hub Locations, lets forget Fiber for now, prices approx, wiring extra Equal Camera Quality at the Camera.. everything on the low end .. IP 200x$600 - Cameras - $120,000 20x$500 - Switches - $10,000 12x$3000(per 16) -200 Camera IP Soft Licence - $36,000 $166,000 <-Still need the Servers UTP 200x$400 - Cameras - $80,000 (including TXs) 20x$2000 - UTP Tranceivers - $40,000 12x$3000 - 16ch-DVRs - $36,000 (including CMS soft-64 cam views) $156,000 <-Higher Quality Real Time Video .. well something like that ..
  6. You can do that now (for years actually) with regular CCTV .. Multipair UTP and Blocks with Active Tranceivers such as NVT (or fiber for longer than 1.5 mile runs) .. Most of the high powered cams need their own power .. like EXtreme CCTV gear, id never dream of running them on network cable ..

    choose DVR Cards

VJD .. If you use my Viewer with Geo, it supports 1, 4, 9 or 16ch full screen multiview (could easily be multisite 30+ cameras/sites depending on funding) And using the Video Out from the Video card you can playback on a CCTV Monitor in full Screen Mode IP cams and upgrade boards would be nice .. just a FYI though the actual manufacturer makes the Hyrbid boards now, but they will probably take some testing before they are released by Geo, if ever. Also, does anyone have a link to an Aver Browser Demo? I also noticed the NV5000 doesnt do 720x480, is 240/240 (so doesnt really compare to the GV-1480) and does it have a DSP Multiplexed Analogue output? Looks like a decent lower cost alternative though .. do they have any other higher end versions ?

    Question on cameras

What he said basically, EIA is NTSC Black & White. They should not have had anything like that on the box, is it a DIY system or OEM??

    IE7

Even FireFox has holes now .. just an FYI .. its generally a Media Player Hole though that gets through FireFox .. yep the latest FireFox also .. But its still alot safer than IE ..
  14. that pink one just lost their credibility .. Anyway, the card is still software compression so its nothing new really .. And moreso .. its linux // Arghh ... it uses a DOM instead of a HDD, still not embedded and not RTOS ..
  15. Befire you try LuxRiot make sure it works in AmCap or VidCap .. Also did you use the btspy software that creates the text file? Make sure there is no other DVR software running when you do that. Rory

Doesn't look like a plane to me??

If Planes hit in NY and a Plane went down in PA (cell phone calls prove that one 100%) .. then why would they make up something at the Pentegon .. heck could have gone back into Iraq for less of a reason than that .. and if they were to make it up, wouldnt it had more effect if it had hit the White House or a school..?? I dont think anyone said the FBI was perfect ... and neither was the camera and system at that security booth .. though i doubt anyone anticipated someone flying a plane at 500mph just a few feet above the ground .. and does anyone think the gas station would have a high end system that would be any better .. and the hotel .. doubt it, ive seen their cameras when I was in Cali and they were cheap gear .. BTW yall need to see some of the crap posted on the Bahamas Forum I visit .. they believe all that conspiracy stuff and then some .. They like to bring up the wire tap stuff and compare it being as bad or worse in the US than Cuba .. i laugh at that .. cause at least Americans (and us here also, though they always like to down the US though their survival depends on the US) have the choice to use the phone .. or use VOIP // without facing a firing squad ...
  17. As thats essentially a generic 4 channel card, you should be able to get the BT Drivers working with it. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2021 Then use any generic software, such as LuxRiot or others mentioned in that thread. But Most Professional DVR software (Geo, etc) wont work with them as they require their own drivers loaded. Generally it should be a dedicated PC when using it as a security system, but for example the Geo software will allow minimizing and running in minimized mode on start up, but the software requires the cards branded by Geo.

    Manufacturer Comparison

Toshiba is more mid range like Sanyo, actually Sanyo is better at least as far as the cameras. GE Kalatel, well kalatel has been doing CCTV from the beginning, as good as or better than most pelco products. Pelco has some good unique products though. The other 2 I dont know. One brand doesnt cut it in the CCTV world, you need to pick the best camera for the application regardless of the brand. There isnt any one brand that makes all the best products.
  19. I havent used 8.0 but for all older versions folders are created in the windows directory named by the version number. When you goto a web page in IE that has the Geo ActiveX it will download a "Check" Control which sees if it already exists .. if you have that control already loaded then it wont have to download and just does the check automatically. if it does have the version installed, it does nothing and loads the next page. If it doesn't exist (eg. c:\windows\v7000, for Version 7.0 or . c:\windows\v7090 for Version 8.0) then the folder is created and the main files are extracted to that folder. If you are having issues best thing is to delete those folders all together. They would be the folders 7000, 7020, 7040, 7050 and 7090 in the C:\Windows Directory. (7090 is Version 8.0 by the way) One easy way is to use a program I wrote, download it, unzip, and click on the GeoFix.exe program. When the program loads, check the box "Fresh" box then click both buttons, version 7.0-8.0 webcam files will be deleted and a custom 7.0 version will be installed, which means when revisiting a web page with version 8.0, it will redownload and reinstall its files. Basically you maybe having an issue with an older version .. if this doesnt work then let me know .. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/geo/geofix.zip Rory
  20. yep that was the one .. sbc global . something yahoo .. it worked for my program ..

They're not for CCTV really, I mean the high res is not supported on DVRs yet, so its okay if you are using or creating custom software, which is what machine vision is .. but yeah they are using them for security also, you just dont get the resolution with the DVR as if it were connected direct to the PC with the IEEE 1394 digital interface.. Also stuff like this http://catalogs.infocommiq.com/AVCAT/CTL203/index.cfm?mlc_id=203&SID=15852221&pin_id=1786&ProdID=346140&T3=678 http://www.sony.net/Products/SC-HP/new_tec/camera/super.html more .. these 1/6" ones are interesting .. longer zoom .. http://www.daitron.com/camera/FCB_EX780S-FCB_EX780SP.htm Alot of them // http://www.daitron.com/camera/color_camera_module.htm Sony's PDF http://bssc.sel.sony.com/Professional/docs/brochures/fcbseries.pdf And here is another OEM module .. http://www.cnbtec.com/en_product/prdview.php?s_prod_code=AA004003
  22. Download this program to test your SMTP server .. enter a username and pass if it requires it .. if this works, then the Geo should work .. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/smtptest.asp
  23. What Thomas said, you need to specify the SMTP server of your ISP. If however the ISP doesnt block Port 25 and you have an SMTP server you can log into successfully then it should work. Not sure if you are talking about yahoo mail or that ISP yahoo (?) .. i set up an email program recently for a US company which used a yahoo SMTP server but it was their ISP not mail.yahoo.com. Most ISPs block port 25 now though so you should be using the ISP provided SMTP server.
