    Casino DVR'S

I hear you on the fedex ... had that with kalatel and a warranty item .. think shipping times 3 and add 45% Customs Duty ... arghhh .. but for me, its the same with all name brands from the US. Anyway, lets not get into manufacturer/rep stuff here pleeaase ...tankx Personally I never had an issue with their HDDs but you may have installed more than me .. remember sales and installation are 2 seperate things . .. if they arent installed on a Voltage Regulator or Line Conditioner then it doesnt count - its like the difference of puttin leaded gas into an unleaded gas vehicle ... When you say Bosch Protocol ... im lost ... ? Is it because it uses a bosch PTZ? Phillips Protocol then ...? I never finished off saying GE/Kalatel was the way to go though ... only mentioned them as an example, there are others that are big brands and have specific R&D Casino Apps. You could even build your own from the bottom up, very easily. Without going to deep, who is GSA? And are your clients the Las Vegas type clients? If so they will have their own requirements ... Thanks Rory PS. hope to meet the queen at vegas

    Casino DVR'S

Forget Casino for a second, what are the exact requirements? You will probably find yourself having to go PC Windows based, especially if high quality evidence sharing is important. You may at this point start sayin "yeah it's all good but i need stability!" Okay ... i know I can help you there .. . well actually I posted on this forum already how to set up a PC Windows based DVR so it is as stable as can be (for windows). If you need a link to the thread, please just ask. If you have ever had bad results with PC Windows Systems, I dont blame you, not everyone knows how to set them up properly. Now, I was the "Kalatel or nothing" user for 6 years ... well it became GE in that time also .. (PS im killing some time away from the software development right now )) ). And Plug, Play and Forget about it, was my middle name ... search the forum and yee shall find ... I still believe in Stand alone RTOS DVRs ... but just not for the higher quality evidence sharing and faster speeds that are common in certain PC Windows based DVR Systems. You can easily do the Casino with Matrix Systems from companies like GE, etc, and they even have their own Casino type DVR systems as well. Even GE does a PC based Casino System now .. though they arent cheap. I would start by looking at the various requirements by Casinos in your area .. Rory

    Code of Conduct

Now, that brings up another good point, the Dealer Forum is there for a reason, I would prefer that Dealers & Installers keep their convos with other dealers and installers in THAT forum .. the public forums are for everybody, and alot of what we talk about dont need to be in the public area. Originally we didnt have to worry about reps, distributors, or manufacturers. Now it has changed, and that is why we are looking at things again. My Personal Opinion is that if you are a dealer, installer, rep, distributor, or manufacturer, if all you come on the forum to do is push your product, that doesnt help the community. Im suggesting that all of the above types of members at least post some help to end users, in the public forums. We can always look at specific Manufacturer Forums and Installer Forums as well. I believe the Classifieds has to go, a hardly ever used Forum, also too much a Yahoo type scene. Product Announcements may have to go. It is basically inviting advertising from manufacturers or reps. It was originally a good idea. It was put there for announcements on new products in the industry. Though it is yet another hardly used forum. Either new or old members dont know what it is there for, or they dont read the forum rules. Either way, its become a playground recently for sales and advertising. PM's and soliciting - I don't like it. I'm not saying anyone does that here at least not over the board, but I'm sure it does or will happen. I'm also not saying it shouldn't be done totally. I think it should only be done if another member shows a true interest in a product. (i just recently turned my PM notification back on BTW) Couple Facts - 1) Dealers and Installers provide the majority of support on the forum 2) End users are the most helped members on the forum, and the majority of new members. They generally pass through quickly like a dried plum, but they also make the forum what it is. 3) Dealers and Installers are the most voiced members on the forum, many being daily if not hourly visitors So where do we go from here? 1) Dealers (with no direct partnership to a rep, disributor, or manufacturer) and installers, will always have a voice here. 2) The Admin has the last word - whether or not someone else could have started a forum like this, they didn't, and he did. 3) Members come and go and circumstances change. I'd like to think members that are here now will be here in 2 years, but history shows that many either dissapear in thier own world or move onto other jobs. Now, lets hear some suggestions and totally forget about sales and marketing. The basis of this forum is for technical support, and over time has also become a knowledge base of Information and collection of new friendships in the industry we have all come to love - CCTV. Peace yall .. . Rory

are 600 tvl bullet cameras for real?

should be okay, you may want to just cut the power to the IR so you get less issues with cleaning and spiders, thats if they ever come on ..? Best BW bullets I used were the 325's from Provideo, I also used their budget ones but they didnt match up, and ive used several BW OEMs including an Exview which I actually just installed one a couple weeks ago (and still sell to clients like myself). Course price was double for the 325's, like double the cost of the ones in the link you sent and were 420TVL. But they also have lasted 6 years in a night club LOL .. im actually installing some high res Vandal Domes tomorrow down there to replace them, simply as its lit up well and he is recording in 640x480 and he needs the extra resolutio, though it has done very well up till now. He's had the domes in the boxes since before the new year, just getting around to having me install them now ... For my appartment, I would spend the extra $$ on a BW Camera with Exview, and stick with a 420TVL ... but thats me .. hey, extra resolution just means more time spent recording and shorter recording lengths . .. more clarity (of the pixelising as well) = larger image size .. PS. its spring break now, i gotta go online with the club and check it out

are 600 tvl bullet cameras for real?

Hi, checked it out, • B&W 1/3" Sony CCD .02 Lux • 600 Lines Resolution 290,000 Pixels • 3.6 mm Fixed Board Lens Optional 4, 4.3, 6, 8, 12 or 16mm • S/N Ratio More Than 50 dB • AWB [Auto White Balance] • BLC [Auto Back Light Compensation] • 12 Volt DC 100 mA max (power supply sold seperately) • Working Temp -10C~+50C • Dimensions 23 x 100 mm • Standard BNC Connector • Includes mounting hardware. 600TVL is very common with BW cameras ... its normally either 570 or 600TVL .. kind of rare in a bullet but still common among board cameras. Its got some good specs, though that 0.02 lux will be more like 0.2 lux or maybe 0.1 lux, as it doesnt have an Exview Chip, which would bring the price up considerably. Normal 400TVl and non exview are very very cheap from OEMs. One thing though they wont tell you is the actual quality of handling light is not that good, thats the main drawback to the OEM BW Bullet cameras, they will perform great at night, but daytime is normally not that good at all - its okay but bright sunlight doesnt like it. The lens options with this one are good. Lets put it this way, its probably worth it for the price, and better than a 420TVL OEM BW Bullet camera .. if it was exview would give you the extra low lux of 0.02 lux though .. but I guess we cant have everything For a home user it will be fine .. if you want the extra low lux check out an Exview BW camera ... even if it is not high res, would be better for night time. 18. Ding ding Ding ... cool yah straight then .. PS. got rid of those blinking eyes yet ??
  19. sounds like a very slow connection or a version issue. Do you have ActiveX enabled in IE? Also, what version are you connecting to, and which other versions worked for you in the past? Rory
  20. speaking of the push in terminals .. the Ge Vandal Domes used to have them ... arghhh ...
  21. Screw Terminals ofcourse .. I always find those other push in ones a PITA .. especially inside domes .. Rory

    Anyone heard of RTSSENTRY DVR's?

I have seen it before and checked out the Client Remote software, its okay. Didnt go into detail but looks pretty unique.

    O S on PC DVR

Yes, but IIS lets me run ASP as well . .. (dont ask, long details ) Edit (since its the in thing to do) - Eventually I wont need to run Geo's at all, nor IIS, will use my own. Currently Im using port 81 for one, and port 82 for the other // but this is on a development PC not the clients. One idea is a server that has a remote client which works for different DVR brands.

    O S on PC DVR

As long as you are using FAT32, not a member of a domain and Geo is okay as admin account you might as well save your $. XP Pro doesn't have anything over XP Home in that situation. yep, except IIS in my case . ..
