    zoom camera

They were on the forum at one time ... Also, a Zoom camera is generally useless without a Pan and Tilt. (and yes I know what instances it may be used in, we installed a bunch of them)

    zoom camera

Arghhh, i used a bunch of those GVIs a couple years ago . they are same as the COP-USA gear .. OEMed from China or Taiwan. They dont do very well in Low light, the BW mode is pixelised, i think my colleague still has some ... he switched them for the Provideo Low Light Color Domes which in color mode, see better than that GVI model in BW mode - remember there are several "seperate" Samsung companies, TechWin is the higher quality gear. while GVI is a US company that sells alot of OEM gear. I dont know what the model number was but it was the only Day Night Zoom camera they were selling under Samsung GVI. Perhaps you meant Techwin .? They have all the WD gear ... or maybe Im just spoilt by the GE and Sanyo .. Rory

In my GV250 on a Via, sure .. Ill test it on an intell this weekend .. then If I can ill get down to the GV1480 machine and test that to see which is best, on that one im pretty sure de-interlace was better, that or it was done to get rid of the lines ... we'll see .. maybe some of the GV builders can show some images of GV800's etc . Anyway, ill see what I can find out .. my Video Card in this PC is only a 64MB right now too, i have 5 more video cards I can test .. and 3 PCs ... once i hook those PCs up .. Rory

    camera condensation

No I havent, but being that its a budget Color IR camera, I wouldnt count on reading licence plates with it.

    camera condensation

First fix the condensation then worry about the IR reflection, though one thing you can try is to leave the sunshield off. If the camera glass is dirty from rain or condensation, it will look bad with IR on in low light/pitch dark. IR cameras need to be cleaned alot. Just some clear silicone caulking/sealer. If the camera is white then you could use some white silicone caulking if you wanted ... so long as it dries like rubber ... which caulking/sealer does.

    camera condensation

With some bullet cameras, doesnt matter what brand, the seal where the cable goes into the camera can let air/water in, so seal up that area with clear caulking, and then make sure the front piece is screwed on extra tight, also caulk any other exposed holes it may have. Open the front piece and let dry out in the hot sun or a heater for a while first, then put it back on. Its too small for those condensation packs i think, i have used those in Full Camera housings before. Rory

    DVR's

One of the best standalone DVRs on the market is still the Kalatel, now GE, they have a long track record for stability and security. The only thing they fall short on is the speed, though thats not a high concern in the security world, whilst quality and stability is. They do up to a 64 way multi view of 16 DVRs in one window, and you can open multiple instances for more DVRs. With total remote adminstration of the DVRs programming as well, right down to the Motion Detection Zones or locking the DVRs panel. Their Remote Client and Browser software is totally customizable also. Another 2 would be Panasonic and Bosch. DM has also been around for years and is a favourite of many pros. Sanyo is another yet not on my list personally, though I havent tested it yet. Those are the high end stand alones, then there are lower budget ones such as AvTech, Active-Tek, and Even Hi-Sharp and Everfocus are popular (though the last 2 i have used and not on my list of stable DVRs). PC based there are quite a few, GeoVision is probably the most talked about. I would search the PC DVR card Forum for ideas on all the rest, also the DVR forum for stand alones. Use the forum to get ideas from feedback and questions, it may take some time, but it may be worth it. I havent used Video Insight also, but from the specs and screen shots, and knowing what cards they use, i'm sure it's all that and more. Then there's Iview, and more recently Avermedia, and a whole list of others like Digiflower, Anykeeper, DigiVue, etc. I think one has to ask themselves first, what is their budget, are they PC literate, and if concerned about remote video, what would be the available bandwidth upload speed at the DVR location. But money is one of the main factors .. unless you have an open wallet. Then you can look at what features you are going to need, or whether it should be a PC Windows Based or RTOS standalone plug & play unit.

    GeoVision Video Source Sizes

Deinterlace (googled) This is the process of creating a single frame from the two interlaced fields of a video frame. While interlaced video can look much better on a TV screen, on a monitor it can look rather bad. also see: http://www.100fps.com/
