Sure, power everything from the same supply, dont mount anything on something that can cause a ground loop, keep far away from high voltage, or use UTP with something like the NVT gear with ground loop isolation built in. -
By Default, the only way it will fill the whole screen if set to 720x480 would be if the Program Size is set to 800x600. You are viewing the recorded video file so whatever that file size is, is what you will see, short of using the zoom feature. Rory

Yeah found it thanks, everything is done in the OSD programming ... so good luck LOL Actually yeah, leave Shutter OFF, Sens Up OFF, ALC. under ALC, you can try it with Preset BLC on or Preset BLC OFF. They have alot of settings you will have to play with, i think the AI level should be under ALC though I may be wrong as Ive only ever used a couple OSD cameras, basically the same settings as any other OSD ... i still prefer the dip switch Cameras with normal settings ... Send me one of these and Ill figure it out for you .. Or ... get it online with something where I can adjust it for you and see the image as we change the settings ... nothing like having it in your hands to check the settings under various lighting conditions to understand them properly though. I would suggest taking it home and testing all its settings properly first so you know what it is doing under different lighting conditions, should only take 1 full night/day Rory

if anyone has a link to the manual please post it

The iris adjustment is the same as with any camera. If the lens is an Auto Iris lens then you would have to adjust the Iris Port, or AI level, depending on the camera. Open the Iris all the way (bright), then close it (dimmer) slowly until the glare goes away (not over exposed anymore). Then you can make the focus adjustments and any other adjustments required. Here i link you to check out http://www.mediacollege.com/video/camera/exposure/

I dont know the Nuvico but with most Stand alone DVRs thats typically the back up image size. (320x240) Local playback is where you would notice a big difference between a high res and lower res recording image. Make sure everything is set to default, and just adjust the Iris level. You dont need to adjust the shutter, AGC, or BLC on a decent camera in a location like this. If anything get a lower F stop lens and camera. BLC would be for looking at an area with alot of back lighting such as a door entrance. AGC would be where there is very little light 24/7. Shutter speed would be where you are attempting to catch fast moving objects like cars. Rory

Is there a linux solution that compares with Geo's features?
rory replied to CollinR's topic in Geovision
Nah i seen that Zone minder before, I want something that at least looks like a $30 system .. Anyway, something like Sentry24 but need a US source ... -
Jasper catches on quick histogram examples, notice image 1 is my car park with that big florecent light (ofcourse images are camera dependent and you would need to adjust your glare issues)

Wow, 16 people logged on .. okay link off now..

Our adveriser sells legit Geo cards, as do others on here, but basically just looking at the cards and software versions will tell you. If its a new card it will work with the latest version of Geo. It also sais Geo on the card. See the link above for more info.

rory replied to CollinR's topic in Geovision
Me too, Im looking for one that runs on Linspire ... you know that cheap wintergreen PC from tiger . .. so can use it without buying an XP licence. In my case it doesnt need any features, it just has to be very very cheap ... so long as it doesnt crash .. -
Yep, turn off AGC (Auto Gain Control) and BLC (Backlighting). If still too much glare turn down the iris until the glare goes away. Also, make sure the lens didnt get any finger prints or liquid on it. PS. you got a ton of light sources in there ...

IO works for me, but there are non so just comes up blank .... It could be 100x better but at least it looks better for default installs than it was .. Rory

You can start using the Beta Browser Software right away though, here i have it running on a GV250-2 Card and it works without issues. Its basically the same thing except the GUI has changed.

Haa ... ha .. ha .. They are attracted to the heat source ... they will make a web from a tree to your IR so dont expect to get away from it that easy. Only way to get rid of your issue is to disable the IR on the camera and use Seperate IR. Or keep spraying the housing and mounting area (such as a pole) with Bug Spray every couple weeks. Even with seperate IR they can make a web and you'd need to clean them occasionally. It all depends on the location of the IR whether it gets a web or not, or how much and how often. If its a cheap IR bullet then I wouldnt go overboard on an Extreme IR, just get something basic. If you must then get a 730nm as it will perform better than 840nm with a camera like that. Maybe something like the UF100, or EX26LED (cant rememeber the Derwent name off hand).

try taking the sunshield off, that can cause reflection back onto the lens also. Otherwise there isnt much you can do with those cheap cameras.
