Tip: Simple Paint gun at a distance and camera is disabled .. Psst, dont tell the tieves though ///

Sounds like Ground loop, are you using Active or Passive Twisted Pair Devices, and what brand? What type of cameras are they, brand, model, and voltage? Have you tried plugging a single camera directly into the DVR with coax/rca and see if the lines go away?

Should make some of them for us to buy, then we can use simple cheap color and cheap BW bullets in a cheap housing .. Hey ill buy one .. or two .. or .. -
I still dont see how it will survive if it has no way to breathe .. PC or stand alone .. the HDD's need air. As for protecting it from theft, they make DVR lockboxes with fans in them to circuilate the air, and vents.
-
Yep, the next question is, how good is the camera .. power board/circuits, etc, in other words, how long will they generally last and what is the warranty. You buy something like an Extreme CCTV camera with the knowledge that it is going to outlast most other brands. .. what would be nice, this may already be done, is if they give out an SDK or protocols needed to connect to them in various code or at least VC++ and VBasic .. would be nice to get the SDK for Geo and incorporate these into a custom version of Geo ... Split the signal off to 2 PCs, one with the Geo and one with software that handles its high res and storage

should have seen the one i just ran, though it was 150' my distance was only maybe 50-70', from a bedroom, through a hole in a 3 foot thich wall, tie strapped along with other cable (tested it as I went to make sure no interference), across then up then across again, then off on its own stapled to a wooden beam for about 15 feet and into a weather resistant gang box ... where i left slack inside and spliced the end to where i cut it. Covered the gang box in clear silicone and good to go ...

Yep you could build your own, using a photocell and some minimal electronic experience. Its the case/housing part that would stump me ... thats manufacturing and im no good at that ... otherwise not many people actually make cameras these days, they generally just source the components from Japan .. and manufacturer the housings etc. It said 0.1 lux when I got it 5 or so years ago, it sais 0.02 lux now, but i think its still 0.1 lux, that extra 0 is the normal OEM misrepresentation. Exview would be 0.02 lux - if that. -
Jasper I think you had the all in one cable that has Power and Video Plugs right? If so that is RCA, i just used one of them for a bullet camera install. It was 150' cable so I cut it down to the distance i needed.

Yeah i just installed another one of those Exview BW bullets for someone, they were broke so anyway, its a cheap camera ... not the highest grade Exview CCD so daytime looks pretty shabby, but it does well in low light. The provideo was a better quality all around, but not as low light as the Exview one .. plus the Provideo one cost more. That exview bullet is really small too, like under 2 inches long. If i was in da Budget Biz, all I would sell would be a really really cheap CMOS color bullet, the color CCD budget bullet, that Exview BW bullet, and the cheapest hidden B/W smoke detector camera I could find .. that would be it .. forget the domes and forget day night .. its not budget anymore if you want some decent quality. And just sell the GV250 and a budget 4channel stand alone, and Probably the PowerTelecomm 16 channel Embedded Board. -
with a GE StoreSafe on motion, 4 cameras, 40GB, set to max pps and motion detection (thats 30pps or 7.5pps per camera when all 4 are recording, or 30pps when only 1 is recording) set to HIGH recording quality, in a busy Mon-Fri Office building 2 indoor 2 outdoor cameras. ... they get just over 1 month recording ...

Did you set up your IE Security Settings for ActiveX? Does it load video at all?
-
Cameras, how far from the camera is the start of the field of view? In otherwords how far away from the car park will the camera be?
-
Do you have any spare PC's lying around ..? If so you could try a GeoVision GV250-2 channel card, it will run on Via or Intel Motherboard Chipsets, AMD or Intel CPU, and I had it running as low as 1.5Ghz with 32MB video though at the cost today a 128MB video card is cheap. Anyway consider that also. Otherwise an IP camera and put it on their internet like you said. Check out Acti. http://www.acti.com/ProductsV2/Product_Catalog.Asp You could also use a standard Camera, any type, and a Acti Video Server, then use an Acti Video Transcoder on your side, and output that into a regular DVR. Another option is to repeat it and use wireless, use a (Office) TX - > RX (Repeated Point) TX -> RX (Camera). Costly but that will work and get real time non networked video back to your office to record to a regular DVR. A single IP camera will probably be best for what you want to do though, there are several Acti Reps on this forum. Rory

The color camera, #1 is the only place there is alot of light, in the other 3 locations it will be a pitch black image, so really its fine ONLY if you have ALOT of light. Basically camera 1 will be worst than camera 2 if placed in the same location as Camera 2,3 and 4. Camera 4 would be very dark also if placed in Camera 3's location, as Camera 3 is Exview and sees much more in low light. Rory -

1, 3, and 4 are all OEM bullets, 1 is cheap color 1/4 CCD, 350/380TVL (depending who you ask) 3 is cheap BW exview BW 400TVL 0.02 Lux 4 is Provideo CVC-321WPS 420TVL 0.1 lux -
OEM cable tends to be 20AWG

anything but the Ademco Video stuff .. would be better off with something from Hong Kong .
-

rory replied to PHOENIX's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Does it have true motion recording, or just the normal one in Budget DVRs that claim Motion but are really where you can search Motion events but its still recording continuous? -
do you mean admin account in Geo or Windows ..?
