I have a client with 5 partitions on an Ademco Vista 50. They have 3 door entries, they want a keypad entry control. Is there anything else that can tie into the Vista 50 besides the Vista Key Prox system? They want code entry, not prox, or something that they dont have to carry and loose, no EyeScan either, do you think finger scan is cheap? It will be different keypads from the alarm, but im thinking of the programming side for codes, is there a way to integrate something so I can program the codes from the Compass Software? Or would it be just as easy to install a cheap keypad entry system, a seperate one for each door entrance? They wont have many users, maybe 3 or 4 tops .. or finger scan? thanks Rory

Recommend me a DVR (there are so many brands and options)
rory replied to PHOENIX's topic in Digital Video Recorders
For that cost i dont think you will get motion detection. Most of them have USB ports now, check out the Avtech 4 channel. Thats your price range in stand alone with retail pricing. Its going to be Mjpeg at that cost. Rory -
take a photo ... is it an alarm panel, or relays .. maybe a timer ..?

do you want the doorbell to ring at those times? Anyway, I would just use a Vandal Dome that has a 360 degree gimble, they werent available back then which is why these things were popular - back then.

Question about terminating UTP with Baluns
rory replied to lbtech's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
yeah they tell you only use 1 pair for twisted pair transmitters/Baluns or you can have issues. -

ive used/installed a DVIP and i hated it. Its not as good as their DVRs, though still for the price, the GE is better than the DM on this side of the globe. Either way, you wont notice any great differences between them without switching out to a decent PC DVR . ..

thats a good one

It wasnt end user prices, those were distributor to dealer prices ... thats why the price is going to be almost half the price of a retailer's store. Every link is free advertising on google for those guys ... so we gotta take care in what links we post.

we had a criminal pull a few down and short them out at the night club once ... hence the reason we upgraded them all to Vandal Domes .. well im still waiting on the owner to call me to put them up .. had them from before xmas, sais he's busy .. opening another night club . Here's my take on Bullet cameras, great for locations like poles, trees, anywhere that a dome or full housing cant be installed, and at residential locations where you can get a very cheap bullet camera to do a pretty decent job for the cost. I'd never install them in a business again, and I only use the BW or Color ones ... if there isnt any light, they put some up, install IR, or go get them installed by the plumber down the road. To end, no bullet camera can match the quality of a box camera, or any decent high end Fixed Dome, but they generally blow the cheap domes away.

Yeah I didnt see that part about surges, use a Voltage Regulator on the main Camera Power Supply, and the DVR ... as for lightning thats another ball game, but i imagine power spikes and brownouts are a little more common .. the cameras do get hit sometimes but rare.

its great pricing cause its dealer pricing (what us dealers buy from distributors) please guys ... The Monster sells at retail pricing so please dont compare, like someone else said, dealers sell service and knowledge, not equipment.

Magic radar t-04 driver
rory replied to nikolai's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I guess best thing to do is email them and ask for the drivers and older software for now. http://www.magicradar.com/english/04_support/sub3.asp Rory -
Yeah i know someone that did some of those storage things down here, though they werent flimsy really, anyway, they used Vandal dome cameras every so often to cover each row .. are they using fixed cameras as well as the PTZ? Anyway, let us know what you decide ...
