  1. 20 minutes, you know i didnt get that in depth with it but yeah it could be done.
  2. this will delete files in a specified folder every day. It leaves system files and read only files, and errors if you select the windows folder .. other than that its extra basic and use at your own risk. . it wont ask you if you want to delete as its meant to be minimized. Just minimize it once you click Start. It took maybe 20 minutes to write and compile so dont expect the world . http://www.bahamassecurity.com/uploads/DailyDeleteFiles.zip
  3. network or folders on local HDD? Date/Time, like how exactly?

    KTL DVRs

Looks like an AvTech, they have extremely limited evidence sharing, if you havent figured it out by now, there is nothing else left to figure out. Its a budget DVR, pretty much the rock bottom level among DVRs .. its worth the price, just doesnt do as much as other DVRs. http://www.avtech.com.tw/english/product_13_776w.htm

    megapixel cameras

Yeah but your stuck with their software ... this is pretty cool though http://www.arecontvision.com/products_3130.html
  6. Yeah down here, its even worse, they want that price but then they dont realise its x 3 once its landed, plus we have to make a couple dollars profit and also something to warranty it .. warranty includes more shipping to send it back and have it shipped back again in the case it fails .. and shipping is expensive .. so the mark up on "cheaper" products down here are much more than that on higher quality products ... but they all can fail so the mark up is alot either way. Alot of them see those web sites I wont mention names, and think that is the end user price ... at that point i say sure, buy it yourself, but labour goes up x 3 and good luck with the warranty Jasper, thats retail BTW Anyway, thats why I can sell them a cheap alarm system for much less than a cheap CCTV system, or any CCTV system ... and the alarm system is easier and quicker to install, especially since they are wireless ... Darnit, I got suckered into puttin a single BW bullet camera in for a client tomorrow .. basically after gas and traffic im almost doing it for free ... never again
  7. me, ill take a $50 color camera and a light bulb any day .. alls I can afford
  8. L-side is the only one i can truly say looks high quality. But there is alot more to a high quality product than what the image comes out with, such as power boards, and other components used, as well as the firmware. The Koreans and Japanese make the high quality CCTV gear these days, but they cost more. Then again what does that say about the GE cameras which are made in Taiwan Once your clients are happy, and you're making a living, thats all that counts. .
  9. Mace is basically in the same quality range as the Eclipse products, not near as bad as COP, but still low quality due to inexpensive components and low cost manufacturing.
  10. How far away from the camera is the fov?

    wide dynamic range

they dont appear to be as sensitive in low light.
  12. or compared to GE, Sanyo, etc. ... back to alarms ... Brinks TV Commericals crack me up, its like the lady can answer the phone from Brinks but cant dial 911 herself.
  13. Mace IS cheap stuff Alarms do work though to scare the criminal away most of the time, they dont want to be seen or heard so when the siren goes off ... I have 3 loud sirens and 2 indoor ones in my small apt...

    PTZ and Geo gv-800

just make sure it IS a speed dome also, as they have slower ones as well..

    PTZ and Geo gv-800

It may work .... i would go with something that is known to work though, unless you have alot of time on your hands Ive set up a GE Cyberdome with the Geo within minutes ... Others are Merlit Lilin, Sensormatic, etc Zoomed out? Wider angle? Most PTZs are not wide angle anyway, they are generally 1/4" or more. Day night is useful, if you need it or can afford it, in the brand names, higher quality PTZs, a Day Night will cost much more than strictly a color or BW PTZ. The no name PTZs are cheap, and there's a reason for that ... I mean they will work, 1/2 the time at least, but there is a huge difference in what you get with them, compared to a high quality PTZ from a popular name brand. Some no name PTZs are very good, but generally those arent the ones OEM distributors are pushing ..

    GV-800 motion detection and rain

It will pick it up just like any other motion. I dont think there is a way around it, besides turning down the sensetivity, lowest I would go is 7.

    Sunkwang Distributors

Provideo and other OEMs use some of their cameras, and from the looks, Ganz uses one of their DVRs. Ive used their cameras also, they are "ok", better than alot of the Taiwanese brands and definately much better than the chinese ones.
  18. yeah, thats how the government is here with bids, which is why i would never deal with them. Plus someone gotta get paid off and i dont work like that.
  19. i would, but we dont have chinese kids dancing in the malls down here
  20. get rid of the connectors, splice the cable together and tape it up good. Twist center to center and braid to braid, keep the braid away from the center, do the braid first and tape it up good, tape it around the cable .. then do the center, and tape it, then tape the whole splice up. It will look like a kind of "V" when done, do them inside a electric gang box so they cant be seen or touched, and caulk the holes where they go into the box. I never had a problem doing it this way before, and even using RG59 Copper to RG6 Aluminum, and as much as 3 and 4 joints at long distances. If you want to you could also solder them. Either way it beats running new cable, and it works. Any other issues then there is another problem. Rory

okay .. looks better than the cops helicopter stuff though how bout some video now
  22. 5.8Ghz (best choice - depends on what its near) http://www.trangobroadband.com/products/falcon_plus.shtml 2.4ghz http://www.trangobroadband.com/products/eagle_plus.shtml or you can see if you get a reply from VideoComm within a couple months http://www.videocommtech.com/ Trango know their stuff though and have great support, been around for years, and the prices on their site are Retail, so check with them on dealer pricing.

    Name that DVR! :)

no just was asking, sometimes a CD-R will play in other CD drives while CD-RWs wont. Sounds like another problem then.
  24. definately not around here ... but alot of them are repeat offenders so alot of the time the cops can recognise them ... thats when the cops actually take the time to investigate it ..
