  1. i still dont see the point, from a security side, unless it is done on every single alarm condition. Guards do walk throughs every hour normally, thats 24 tours a day to make it useful, and only in large areas.
  2. What would be the point of 2 check in tours??

    Determining lens focal lengths

Link to all Computar Lens Accessories: http://www.cbcamerica.com/cctvprod/computar/access/index.html Computar ViewFinder PDF: http://www.cbcamerica.com/cctvprod/computar/access/access_pdf/vm300data.pdf If you want decent low light without IR, a f:0.95 lens, you can get them from Fujinon or GE in 2.9-8mm VF AI lens. They also have 2.7-13.5mm Day Night lenses, though these would primarily be for IR apps.

    *.cms data file

i checked everywhere can only find a trial lawyer software suite, deals with video, but not what you need.
  5. yup, they chage the case colors on and off, Ive used them in the past, well other people had them. No OS though . so gotta use your own or buy another CD ... It'll work as is with the GV250 ... without swapping the board. good links though, i may post a sticky ..

    Thermal Imaging camera Demo

I guess yeah if its a heat based application, though we dont have any fog in this part of the world, but there is an Active IR that sees through fog too. As for the motion, i never had a problem with that, but then i always flood the area with IR .. but yeah if you must see 2 miles no they really wont do the whole area, without a bundle of IRs anyway ..

How far can a camera zoom these days Active IR is over 2 miles now ..

Right, the question is what do you require thermal for?

Yeah, what i meant is why not Extreme's IR ? Is it all wireless or something?

    Port problem

Your WISP may be the problem. Without a router or hub, you would be able to get right into the DVR with no port forwarding or anything, once the Windows Firewall is turned off, or set up.

What about Ganz? Why not Extreme CCTV?
  15. I have a couple GeoVision recorded clips on my home page, top right. The GV250 is their budget card, the one i Use in my PC, but i would never game on the same PC with the DVR software running, in fact when playing a movie on the PC i generally shut down the DVR software most of the time. I would really get a second PC just for the DVR if you can, it will be much more stable, and as it is security, that is a high priority.

kalatel dm 1500 vfa dome cameras

They're okay for a color dome. This is one of them here, i think this was the fixed lens version, I didnt notice any difference between the fixed and the VFA at this location. For the money though, if Vandal Color or BW dome is required, i go WizKid, and if Day Night, then Sanyo, Pano, or Extreme. For indoor color VF dome, the ganz model that has been posted on here before is supposed to be really good. Its funny how the GE indoor VFA dome is pretty much the same price of their vandal VFA dome. The nice thing at least with these GE domes though is you can wall mount them easily, and they use plug in terminals for the video and power output from the camera board so you can use your own cable when needed.

cant see peoples faces though ... good to just see if anything is happening however .. expensive also. Do these ones switch to a normal camera in the day or stay thermal 24/7?

    covert

Except its not a day night camera, its a Color Super HAD camera which doesnt say much. Provideo's CVC-637EX used to be much better than that as far as low lux, as it was a Color Exview, and they still lied and called it a Day Night camera, while it was not.
  19. yup, well you could always extend that cable with a small piece of solid 2 pair telco wire ... i cant remember the length off hand ..
  20. its going to have power and video, for the video, yes yellow jacket would be video, braid would be ground, and if it doesnt have a seperate ground for the power that would be the same, and then positive would be red. You could join it to the coax if you needed to but not easily. Telco and RCA is easy enough to splice with RG59 though, done it before where I had no choice, and has lasted 6 years so far - do it all the time to my own cameras here also. In your case you would just be joining a piece of telco, RCA or twisted pair to the RG59, which is easy. Joining that smaller cable to the camera cable plug would be easy too, you could use a terminal block to make it more secure and velcro / double stick that inside the dome housing. If you got the 1/2" bit you shouldnt need to cut anything. Connect your Camera Video/Power Cable to the Terminated Siamese cable at the attic entrance, then tape the connection up to secure it further, put a small thin piece of tape over the plug end, and put very small touch of Joy on the tape so it slides good through the hole. Then pull the Plug end of the Camera Video/Power cable and pull it through the hole - take off tape from plug, mount camera and plug in.
  21. you would just be cutting the Camera Video/Power cable and splicing the same cable back together ... only if the plug wont fit in the hole .. another thing you can do is splice a 5' piece of telco, RCA, or twisted pair to the Coax, then pull that with the coax, pull that end through the hold and put the plug on the end of it, then plug it in the camera board. You can always get a second Video/Power plug and cut that one, so you still have the original. Once done correctly you wont have any issues, except make sure there is no high voltage source right near that thin cable.
  22. yeah my bad, you shouldnt need to cut the lead, just unplug it from the camera board, then pull it through the hole from the attic .. plug it back in once the dome is mounted. If it wont fit through the hold, then cut it and splice it back, or use a bigger bit.

    Yeah HikVision is chinese right?
  24. http://www.bamanufacturing.com/hdbh_series.html Dude you dont even need that, use the thin bit. Take the Cable plug off the dome, push the cable plug end through, or pull it through, then that way you dont need to try to fit the BNC in the hole at all. Or extend the cable with a 2 pair telco wire or twisted pair if you need to. Or just terminate it inside the dome.
