Most of them are actually located in the UK, african nationals .. yep it is all scams, and you can get locked up by local law enforcement when you go cash the check .. fraud .. 2 americans living here got arrested recently for that, a couple old guys ... they probably just didnt know any better .. as for the other emails, not really spam, I get them also .. i get a huge amount just from forum members .. wanting to buy from me .. in the Bahamas ..!! I have to say no as well, it will cost them 3 times the US price to buy from here ..

sorry, must be the british in me .. our dates go the other way from yours also ..

I wouldnt do it ... what about wireless, once you have open air and get high enough could work? Probably cheaper to trench though ..

Software that run in the background?????
rory replied to PINBALLNUT's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
well if its Geo you set it to start minimized and auto login, dont see the splash screen, if there is a splash screen with other programs, still shouldt show, as it loads it hidden, not minimized, click F2 and brings up a login screen to load the program. Course user will manually have to delete the shortcuts on the start menu and desktop, quicklaunch etc, to the program. -
Software that run in the background?????
rory replied to PINBALLNUT's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
yeah i just made a program to do it, small .exe, it reads the program name from a text file on the c: drive so you can change the app from there for anyone you want to use it for .. i havent tested it with Geo yet, but works with notepad.exe -
normal wireless video.

Software that run in the background?????
rory replied to PINBALLNUT's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
well you could always throw together a basic EXE program that calls the DVR software and minimizes it in the background ... -
yep, same with analogue wireless ..

Are you in North America or the UK? Last I checked EzCCTV is in the UK .. so it would be set to PAL.

is a cat5 network really CCTV? (closed circuit television)

Yes, as those are IR Filters, so they cut down the visible glare from the IR. Most cameras will see up to 850nm, the higher wavelength cameras will say so i n their specs generally, not all cameras are IR optimized for the invisible IR ranges.

Yeah, i had some issues with their cams and hate their Ultraview, but their DVRs have been rock solid from 5 years ago when it was Kalatel, not sure how the very new ones are, last one we bought was a year ago. But if i want a cheap DVR like everfocus, the best bet is AvTech, 1/2 the money, similar remote software and local features .. but they dont crash .. Difference between the unit having a hardware problem from day one, to a DVR just locking up cause the software is poorly written and they use cheap hardware .. and yeah if I got 10 bad units in a row you bet id be on here giving the same review of them, never heard of that though from anyone that bought them. Once again, return policy means nothing to me, it has to work everytime. Obviously if it is a harddrive issue that can happen to anything. Ive got the tools to fix that myself.

See the difference down here is, we need solid systems, we cant afford to just send them back if they dont work, and they cost double their price just to land here ... so thats why i dont really mess with demos anymore, i mean if they are ultimately low priced as a demo, i have a colleague that would, but like me he wont ever touch another everfocus, hisharp, or provideo DVR again ...wasted too much money. If they dont work, for the cost of the unit itself, it costs too much to make it worth sending back. Ive tested others for half the cost and they worked better .. 480fps was out a year ago, and the thing is, with all these stand alones that claim 480fps, its not in high res, and have very few features compared to the bigger brand names with slower speeds. With Security you want a solid DVR, and Kalatel, now GE, has proven that with their track record over the past several years, from being one of the first major DVR manufacturers ..
-
we sold several of the EDR1600's or whatever they call them, that was a year ago .. never again ... they cant have upgraded it that much .. the price is too high for what you get, there are many other more stable alternatives for a low end DVR.

do you think geo 8.0 will be ready in a couple of weeks
rory replied to jeromephone's topic in Geovision
Probably expect it around the time of the show .. -
Yah mean NeverFocus We had terrible luck with them in the past, basically dont try to play back on the network ..

Doesnt look like much of a modification, looks exactly the same as the HiSharp generic software. They always had a couple different back ground colors.

Honestly, every single camera location will call for a different IR illuminator, beam, wavelength, and possibly power setting. There is: SHORT RANGE - WZ12 or EX12, 10-40' MID RANGE - EX26LED - 24VAC - Hi-LO Setting - 850nn, 30 degree beam > 60'. 940nm & 60 degree available MID>LONG RANGE - UF100 - Own Power Supply - Power Supply has 3 Transformer Taps to lower/heighten power - 730nm, 10 degree beam > 164'. 830, 950nm, 10, 30, and 60 degree beams. LONG RANGE - UF500 - Own Power Supply - 730nm, Spot Beam > 490'+. 730nm, 830nm, and 940nm, 10, 40 and 60 degree beams. Very powerful, only use for 150'+ apps with nothing in the way of the view until 150'+, not for close range. depends on the width of the camera view, how far you are trying to illuminate, what is in front of the illumination at various distances. In other words, if you want 3.0 mm then you would need 2x 60 degree beams, or at least 1x 60 degree beam and 1x 30 degree beam, but once again depends on the length of the distance to cover, and the IR Illuminator used. Learned the hard way. easiest way to start is do a diagram of the camera view and send that to them or someone else to look at, detail everything that can be infront of the view, widths, distances, etc. Narrow lenses are best when using IR, such as 6mm, then you can get away with a 30/60 degree beam at 840nm, or with 8mm a 30 degree beam at 840nm. 4mm can also perferm good with a 30 degree beam, but only if there is alot of area to reflect back the IR without glaring, once the IR is not too powerful. Once again, all depends. noone can say for sure without seeing the location. Something that guarantees 75-100' outdoors with an 840nm filter and 30 degree beam, along with a 4-8mm lens, can normally handle most general situations, but you also want the ability to be able to turn the power to the IR up or down. If its a large area and you want to flood it, then use the UF500 60 degree, and the wavelength will depend on the distance to the nearest reflective object, and you cant use it if there is something too close to it. The UF500 840nm and 60 degree causes to0 much glare on a reflective subject which is directly in front of the beam, at even 70' away.

Make sure Directx 9.0 is installed, and also make sure your Video Card has the manufacturer drivers installed - else you probably wont see any video What Video card are you using?
