Software that run in the background?????
rory replied to PINBALLNUT's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Doesnt run the background really, just starts up minimized, but it does run minimized with 2 cameras with very little CPU usage on a 2.0Ghz with 512DDR ram and 128DDR Video Card. -
thats an alarm transformer .. i found it like that .. LOL

The PTZ brand name makes a huge difference, if you were to use a GE Cyberdome with Controller, you would never use another OEM PTZ And yeap they last alot longer to.
-
ok thanks, good to know you arent near there and are safe, also sad for the people involved, condolences to the families.

i think you are one of the only dealers from the UK here so I guess its safe until someone complains ...
-
Same camera right? Ofcourse i gotta ask, is that a retail price? I know we dont have many British dealers here, but just dont want you guys to have to deal with the same thing we do over this side, websites selling at dealer cost on products .. dont want your clients to come here and see it for much less, lets put it that way .. so its up to you on that, its OEM product so cant really regulate it .. let me know here or by PM .. thanks. Note for newbies on why: Some US dealers here got in problems where their clients came on here and saw the wholesale pricing (or not retail price - with alot of brands there is a suggested listed price which can obviously differ also) and complained to them that they were ripping them off, this, along with some long debates all in favour, led to no retail pricing being allowed here. Google is easy for that, and yahoo and ebay sites are great for spam filled websites and forums with all kinds of below normal pricing with little to no warranties. We basically agreed that this forum is here for technical support mainly, as well as recommendations (without pricing), and created the classifieds section for ads, as well as banner ads for approved web sites. Classifieds and banners are the only approved areas that are suggested for links with pricing BTW. All others can/may be deleted, depending on whether the mods find the pricing questionable or not (retail pricing is allowed - this is based on US$ pricing and brand name manufacturers - I myself have 2000+ PDF & Excel price lists so I have alot to back it up with) This info is for the newbies basically who havent read the rules yet. there should be a setting to adjust the Remote View quality, check that first. The CPU usage doesnt sound right, check what else may be running in the background. I wouldnt call it the most stable software, but there may be another issue with your system itself. Rory

that pano is a 1/3" cam right? whoops edit just noticed the 924 .. no real experience with 1/2" cameras but if its a Pano, Id probably use a Pano lens .. otherwise a Computar or Fujinon should suffice.

i tried polarising filters in the daytime, too much glare still outside in the sun ... gave them away to a photographer. Anyway, best to focus in BW mode under low lighting (either fake it with tinted glass or filters like the Polarising Filters or Welders glass, or just turn the lighting down if indoors like a bar), but just enough light to get a crisp focus, eg. Use something with words on it. If its a bar and the area is only 40' then focus on something 30' away, if the area is smaller like 20' then focus on something 10-15' away. If its a long distance that is being covered, then focus on say 50-75' away .. (from the start of the lens view). If nothing with words, focus on something that has a contrast, such as iron bars (we got alot of them down here ) or a Jeep's Front Grill, etc. You will see the difference as you do it. When dealing with additional IR will depend on the camera and lens used, and also location. So basically my preference is to focus them all under low lighting at my place, to the set lens, and then just install them at the location and use a monitor to adjust the view. In a bar, its easy enough, install them all in the day time, then go back in the evening to focus - if it isnt too far away. Adjust the focus several times, even after you think you have obtained the best focus, just to make sure. I only ever had focus issues when dealing with IR, and that was when using non IR and non Aspherical lenses. With Day Night setups, always expect to spend some time at the location at night time .. even if its a bar which may have low lighting available 24/7. Rory

30fps at d1 res(740x480) record for all 16ch pc impossible!
rory replied to griffonsystems's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
and in english ..? -
PC Windows XP gives you (i sound like a broken record now ) higher quality evidence sharing, faster speeds, upgradable flexibility, and larger selection of the newest compression codecs. Stand alone non Windows (eg Linux, Nucleus, etc) are great for plug, play, and forget about it, with little to no intervention. A budget Stand Alone is in no way silimar to a decent higher end unit. Same can be said with PC Cards, but with well known brands the software stays the same across the boards.

30fps at d1 res(740x480) record for all 16ch pc impossible!
rory replied to griffonsystems's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I know im getting 13 cameras at 30fps in 640x480, and i had it set to 720x480 in the beginning and was getting exactly that. -
depends on you, your clientel, what market you are going for, and how much support you can give a particular product. One is a non windows all in one unit, the other is full of features.

"All Digital" IP cameras
rory replied to Airick's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Covi Also .. i think, plus there are alot of Korean Manufacturers making these now for some of the well known brands. -
Check out Acti, Ive looked at every other and from what I have seen in all the Specs for each one, Acti has the fastest speeds and largest selection for one company (yes even compared to those above listed companies). Alot of the other companies simply rebadge gear from other manufacturers and use an SDK, Acti is the manufacturer. Course the software isnt that great though so you should look at a third party for software/PC side of it.

we know that, but to be fare to the dealers on the site that sell those particular products at retail pricing ... and lets not help in the destruction of whats left of the industry, everything here is indexed on google too
