    Best IR Illuminators

Best ever was Extreme CCTV. Now its owned by Bosch. http://www2.boschsecurity.us/videosolutions/family.aspx?family_id=35 I'd stay away from the other rubbish they mentioned above.
  2. Something that looks physically like the CNB VBM-24VF, but with a Sony chip. Something not "pointy" like some Vandal domes are, as cant have it sticking out on the wall. Must be TDN, 2.8-11mm 1/3" 700TVL 960H camera preferred. Something in the price of the CNB or KT&C Obviously does not have to be as cheap as the CNB. Also must be available in the US. Name brand NOT important but would be good to see a demo video sample. Any ideas Thanks

    Anti - CCTV

huh? Seriously, rioters in my community wouldn't last very long. I've had to deal with kids and rock fights in my yard before, and I'm talking big boulders - it stops then and there. If they came with "Petrol Bombs", the neighbors guns would eat them all up. And that's if the cops with Machine guns didn't get them first.
  4. I used that once, was an Exview DN camera, not bad actually. Been years though. Since its exview its going to try let in as much light as it can, so need to make that dark as possible. Turn off AGC, adjust gamma (probably only 1 way or the other). Dont recall if it even has shutter adjustments on the dip switches.
  5. Search for: KPC-N850NHF And their LPR B/W only cameras: KPC-LP850 = 50-50mm KPC-LP500 = 9-22mm

    Samsung SCO-2080R STINKS!!!

and to think that camera has been there from around 2001/2002. through all the storms and heat and sun.

    Samsung SCO-2080R STINKS!!!

better than a snapshot, here is a video of the KT&C mini bullet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-D3AIc0VldY when you watch this, remember this is just an inexpensive fixed iris really tiny waterproof (IP67) bullet camera. Think very small hidden camera in a weatherproof housing. There is some noise at night under even that lighting, but thats the same for even more expensive color/TDN cameras I tested there recently.

    Samsung SCO-2080R STINKS!!!

i'll check, meanwhile click on the image to make it larger. these were all captured over the network, so there is some loss of quality.
  11. Then it begs the question ... can they understand English? Or must I reply in some other language?
  12. What CCTV monitor was this photo taken from? Speed will only cause motion blur and that is shutter related.
  13. What Im saying is I have never seen that with ANY camera I have ever used. What you are seeing is not on the CCTV monitor which the camera is plugged directly into. Use a CCTV monitor and you will get perfect video. Bottom line is, it isn't the camera's fault, blame Axis.
  14. maybe a bad iris or iris control. Physically if the Iris gets stuck, normally it does it the opposite way, so it is stuck open letting in too much light, and causing whiteout during the day but looks fine at night. can you post a photo or video of it? is it video loss or just a black image?
  15. Looks like focus shift to me, blurry image. How is the day image? With the regular sub $150 ones I used, could focus good for day but would be blurry like your image at night. No matter what IR optimized lens they claim it has. With the $350+- ones, they have 30% and 10% IR so it makes a ring effect.
  16. Thats the video encoder you are using. Have you checked the cameras directly? If you see this type of image at the camera, then something is wrong with the camera. Here is an example from the DVRs we use, of a moving car. The wheel in this image is more like what you should be seeing even after recording.
  17. This is actually a good candidate for catching plates, though the manufacturer has dedicated LPR cameras. This has - 5-50mm, 70m Ir (obviously less than that), IR min and max level, Dual Window IR, Headlight Compensation (masks out headlights for what its worth), Adjustable Gamma, Adjustable Shutter, Adjustable DNR, Negative Image, Digital WDR (for what its worth), AGC on or off, Heater, Dual Voltage - though it does draw alot of current, and its the older 550TVL - however that could be a good thing. Unlike the LPR cameras though, this could be used for non LPR applications also. Just an example of what maybe to look for as far as specs go. These features can generally be turned on and off until you get what you want. BTW you dont necessarily need WDR for LPR. http://www.ktnc.co.kr/english/viewtopic.php?t=581&sid=347a71f2b4c9a1d1e96786595755d818
  18. Im done with the CNB, image quality just isnt there with them and the Monalisa chip sucks - all their cameras come with Monalisa now. Yes their cameras physically look good, install easy and are cheap - but thats about it. Every IR bullet I used from them suck also - faint IR, too much focus shift, bad day image, or the IR ring effect. KT&C costs a few dollars more but uses Sony chips and even have the 700TVL (960H) cameras now for not much more than CNBs. They also have a huge selection of bullets and with more functions than CNB, eg. D-WDR, HLC and Negative Image are common features. Bye Bye CNB ...

    Some pics from the cameras

Hmm, WaveReader is really old school Also try WaveVue on my site. See if that installs. I dont recall what dependencies it uses though.

Call local alarm or security companies, as if they have any bad IR cameras they are throwing out, thats how I got my cameras, all used, some bad and i just fixed them

What software is it? WINE just needs all the dependencies, download dependency walker and see what files are needed, then copy them to your wine install on the linux OS. Dependency walker 1.0 also came on the XP CD. For browser based activeX and Wine check this - it shows for Mac but Linux Wine is even easier. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/articles/browser-based-video-on-mac.asp
  22. With the arecont, perhaps adjust the shutter higher and that it cant see much in low light like that could be a plus, if it has WDR use that, otherwise try BLC. here is a CNB WDR camera, with WDR enabled. Negative - edited saved image if your camera has a negative feature that may help. I know some KT&C cameras have that built in the OSD.
