Depends on the DVR used (Real time ones - combos - want a higher perf card), a Saphire Radeon 9200se is generally all you need, cost like $40, $5 or $10 diff between the 64MB and the 9200 128MB version.

Wow, i mean today - Sunday January 15th - had to the the busiest day in the history of the forum. Well maybe not, but it seemed like it. Alot of posts were recurring posts or posts that could have been minimized by joining them together. I welcome the new members, with open arms, and i love helping them, as do other members, just want to clear that up first. Basically if you can, put as many questions into one post as possible, it will help us answer questions easier. I myself was answering posts and many, many PMs from as early as 8am, and i didnt even goto sleep Saturday night at all, except for 2 hours Sunday Evening. Why do I do it? Well i like to share the knowledge or experience, depends who you talk to. Why do others do it? Well im pretty sure they like to do it for the same reason, and to share experiences, in the hope of helping others in the industry, Professionals and DIYers alike. I am starting a new contracted job (CCTV Software related), which basically started a couple days ago, and will take up much of my time for at least a couple of months, perhaps more if all goes well, but I will still be around daily, just not as much as I would wish. I would like to be able to be here more and will do the best I can to answer emails and PMs. Concentrated posts will help our moderators keep check, and what helps them, helps keep this forum here and online. I am actually happy to see all the new members we have of late. and wish them the best in their endeveours. I also welcome the guests and hope to see them join in and participate as much as possible in this detailed and ever changing exciting industry. Much respect goes out to the forum Admin for this chance to meet new and interesting people from all over the world who are interested in the same things we are. See you on the forum. Rory

You got this running with PAL? Actually this IS the 7.1 Skin (at least similar), but customized for the older/current systems The Chrome version anyway. The other 3 versions are just modded versions of the Chrome one. The View Log was actually the hardest to customize, and which is why I only have that in Chrome right now, and why im not just "giving it out" right now. The new commands with the 7.1 are totally different from the 7.0xx so thats why i had to incorporate a bit of both, see the View Log Image example. 7.1 is going to be great, i just couldn't wait for it myself, and for my clients. Plus, it will be the same as far as customisation so Im getting myself ontop of it before it is released. All credit goes to Geo 100% as they really are putting alot of work into the 7.1 version, and they spent some hard cash on the graphics for 7.1. I'm just throwing something into play for the current cards/software ... but when the new software comes out, ill have it ready also ... I just wanted to share this with everyone as I didnt know how long it will last. Rory

Works on the 1480 as per my last client. I didnt use this actuall software to install the new GUI, i did it by hand, but its the same settings and images (Chrome Version). There is a "RESET DEFAULT" button that sets the 7.05 default settings and images, which are applicable for up to 7.05. The GV System crash generally occurs if some of the images are not the original color count, or if the main Geo config files are not in par with the DVR software versions. Hence the back up when you first apply a Skin, and the Restore button to restore the original files. The Reset Default button uses the settings and files for 7.05. Rory

Hi all, thanks. and no prob mon .. those smileys are the bestest ..! I mentioned pal on the dealer section, i dont have a PAL system to test it with. It is possible everything is the same and they named everything with PAL for their own personal reasons (GEO) but it might not be so .. Basically if everything is not right then the Geo system will crash on startup ... so I really need a PAL system to test with .. now if someone gets me VNC and a Geo 7.0x system with web access i can do it ... that way i can see if it works or not, and fix it if i need to, I dont need to see the video at all (which you dont with VNC), just the GUI. Let me know .. ofcourse you will get anything else i have for the GUI such as the View Log mod Rory

Hi, thanks. I would have if it wasnt in the same month that Geo is supposed to release the new version. But anyway, what I did was just leave out the modified View Log (search and playback) GUI in this version, plus there are so many other things I can do for this, and the new version when it comes out. As im involved in some other major software I will be releasing free software apps as I get them done in between. There will also be seperate paid apps as options i will add to these free apps as I go along, and can customise for anyone. Though my main software project comes before anything else. For now these are only for the forum, not on my site. Also, dont forget, so people dont thing i'm all that biased, Here is a link to custom remote software i did for the GE Security (Kalatel at the time, 3 years ago) Stand Alone RTOS Systems. I even had my own Browser based software for the DVRs before they came out with it!! http://www.bahamassecurity.com/uploads/MSWVUE.ZIP Rory

Hi and welcome, where did you buy the card from (PM me if you need to keep the sellers info private) Thanks Rory -
First thing all cameras are BW by default. Main criteria for a "True" Day Night camera is that it has a Mechanical Switching IR Cut Filter. This does 2 things: (this is just an example and differ) 1-Goes across the CCD to block out the IR and apply Chroma to the image - COLOR 2-Goes across the CDD to allow IR and cancel out any Chroma placed in front of the image - BW Some also have IR Pass filters which will optimize the camera for high Infrared Wavelengths not visible to other standard BW cameras. In Color Mode (added Chroma) they will still pick up IR, such as from the Sun or IR Lighting, but with an IR Cut Filter you will get better color production. Without an IR cut Filter images can looked washed out and bright from IR such as Sun. Without an added IR pass filter they will not pick up as much IR (Spectral Wavelengths) as would an IR Optimized camera. So when you see a Cheap Color IR camera (eg. OEM Color IR Bullet), typically it will digitally be reducing the chroma, and is basically as sensitive to IR in the day, as it is at night - hence the low cost. A Digital Day Night Camera simply digitally removes the Chroma and has no mechanical Filters. Prices vary among the enourmous amount of CCD grades available, especially from Sony. The quality and sensitivity also vary with the price. Some Day Night cameras will simply cut the Chroma and stay the same lux level or just slightly lower in BW Mode, while some will enhance it with things such as AGC and other proprietry light enhancement, digitally. This is why you will notice cameras that claim 0.2 lux in Color and 0.02 lux in BW, they will cost much more than a Digital day Night camera which are generally not that sensitive. Alot of manufacturers will also only quote the faceplate luminance level, which can fool a prospective client into thinking that is the true sensitivity level, while it is not. Even with correct specs the sensitivity levels can vary. The end result will also vary depending on which F:stop lens you use. [TIP: you can take the image of a color camera on a DVR and cut the SAT and HUE and you have a BW image - add a bit of contrast and a touch of brightness to it and it will see much more at night - daytime will look okay, but not near as good as the original image] Different cameras do this different ways, just an example of what is taking place with a True Day Night camera. PS. Cooperman please correct me if i am wrong anywhere on this (Coops been in it for years so if anyone knows he does!)
