They are both similar when you compare F stop sensitivity levels, Toshiba is 0.2 lux at f:1.0 and the JVC is 0.4 Lux at f:1.2. JVC is slightly higher res, not that noticable though. Neither are True Day Night Cameras. If I had to choose between either i would go with the JVC and use a F:0.95 lens. Otherwise spend the extra couple dollars and goto the Sanyo True Day Night, cost is slightly higher but it is one of the least expensive of its type, compared to GE, Pano, Bosch, etc. http://www.sanyo.com/industrial/security/cameras/special/index.cfm?productID=147 OR (slightly lower lux) http://www.sanyo.com/industrial/security/cameras/special/index.cfm?productID=1235 Rory

If you want to save money then just use the plug in power supplies like Jasper said, Cable is important but if you really need to save money just buy the 100' all in one RCA-BNC cable. Dont go to far with it though, 100' is the max i would do with them.

uninstall all the drivers from the device manager before you burn the image .. -
one day we might have farming and not have to import everything .. one day Someone built a huge green house to do just that, not sure if it is in production yet, see the sun is too strong and everything is generally too dry .. If you did come, Long Island (an outisland) is beautiful, but it is a real outisland, so yeah food is mostly fresh fish and then everything else is imported .. no crime at all there though .. family kind of island .. everyone is related, most of the outislands are like that .. but nothing to do there to live, unless you are a fisherman. . I actually love veggies ... just dont trust them here after what I have seen. Well i guess there are always the frozen veggies .. i gotta start cooking again anywayz ..

Best type of crimpable BNC connector?
rory replied to RichTJ99's topic in General Digital Discussion
thats the problem, with all connectors, its up to the installer .. and cable used, also the quality of the connector, i cant use the Twist ons they sell at the electrical store here, they come out of the socket when you twist them tight, so I only use them in an emergency, otherwise i get them all from the US distributors. -
when i was living in the US i lived at Health Food stores, soy this that and everything, and tons of vitamins, i was healthy as ever ... but here there is but 1 health store, or maybe 2, in the ghetto somewhere, and they are too expensive for general consumption, regular food is too expensive here! Why do you think that Popular Bahamian food contains alot of rice (and fried chicken) .. its cheap.

the meat, yah dont want to know .. but ... at least can burn it cooked to get rid of most of the bacteria.. .

the professional software lets you restore the EXE image over the network .. dont know if Ghost does this or now, i remember it wasnt cheap, we just bought a single licence for what we were doing back then. -

id say buy them all the same mobo, load up windows and the other software, then make an executable Image ... bang, can take 10 minutes to install in the future. There is professional software that does it also. You can take out the serial number if you want to do legal way as well, right in the registry before you burn the image .. buy them each a version of windows so they are all legit. -
hard to find that stuff down here ... and when you do, it costs an arm, a leg, and a thigh ..

Seven Manufacturers??? how about 70??
rory replied to TopGeek's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
There are probably more than 7 at this point, alot to do with the chinese companies popping up every other day, though they may only be using 1 main manufacturing company in china perhaps .. Well world wide there are Avermedia, UDP, AnyKeeper, DigiFlower, Kodicom, Comart, Chance-i .. and those are the decent ones .. I think HikVision makes their cards too, China. there are quite a few more now adays i imagine. But just so you know, hundreds if not more, companies in Asia, US, UK, Canada, etc, will say they are the manufacturer when they are not. I hate when i see that .. its all over the web now though. Have you tried these drivers yet? http://www.iulabs.com/drv/index.shtml They didnt work with the Connexant Chip i had .. maybe will work with yours -
Best type of crimpable BNC connector?
rory replied to RichTJ99's topic in General Digital Discussion
I just use Twist on BNC Connectors, nothing special. Its more important to use good wire, good cameras, and make sure the connection is done properly. -
There's another program that clears it though (doesnt come with the default install), and im checking something else out right now that may be easier

Looking for a weakness in Intellex DVR
rory replied to cctv_down_under's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hmmm, okay 720x240 at 120ips in the DVMS version and that alone is almost twice as expensive as the GE standalone. Otherwise looks nice, i like the charcoal color software .. 720x480 at 240ips in the higher end one which is double the cost of the DVMS. What i did notice though there are alot of things to go through to get to playback video ... which seemed like alot of work - looks like it will require a computer guru This is nice though (CamStudio/CamTasia) http://americandynamics.net/applications/VPD_Intellex.aspx
