3 beeps and then 2 beeps

yep .. long time, that same day .. they took it back to the people they bought it from as was a companies PC LOL
  5. Sell them all the same Motherboard and other hardware .
  6. Windows installs allot of drivers whether you do or not. If you uninstall them then you would not be able to make a CD .. though you could probably try and uninstall everything within the Device Manager except for the CD and then burn it .. see what happens.
  7. Well getting into legal things here now with Windows, but basically if you load the image on a different PC the windows you used would still have all the drivers for the original PC so you can have problems .. it may work, it may not.
  8. i checked it out, the software on CD is the legit 7.0 ... settings needed some adjustment as had all 16 cameras enabled . will wait and see what the final result is.
  9. Down here, no more than 3 months, if they're lucky they may get 1 year ... then they have the choice to pay for shipping & customs to send it back to the manufacturer for a replacement.
  10. If you did it with a CD-RW then it may not work in Dos or on other PCs CD Drives, use a CDR only.

    EX-200C color bullet camera ?

sure, any 1/3" micro lens should work. I would say if it is Exview, it would be more like 0.2 lux in color, and then it still depends on the camera whether it can produce at that level, either way, its going to pixelize at low levels as thats how Exview componsates, and even more pixlising on a bullet camera such as this (compared to a pro box camera). Its going to be the lower grade Exview CCD for that price (googled it), but still not bad
  12. the cable wont matter. almost looks like the hard drive has an issue, or what are your settings ..? let me log on and have a peek ..
  13. Thats the infamous HiSharp The nubix is a great unit though, thats the Active-Tek.
  14. Well there are Low end, Mid Range, and high End Stand alones. With the low end you will generally find the network software is really crappy, while the mid range ones become better, some of them being very good, and then the High end Standalones will have the more powerful network software generally. High end being big name brands, cost can be more than the fastest PC based, and less configurable as far as hardware - but generally solid machines. If your client wants great remote software then you wont sell them the lower end units. There will also be certain features you will only find in the PC based, so you can base the sale on what they want. If they can only afford the low end units, then thats all they can get. Typically I like to deal with Companies that have been around a long time, and arent going anywhere soon. I have some old DVRs from Kalatel (now GE Security) and 6 years later while the hardware and firmware is now outdated, I can send them back to them to get refurbished instead of the client buying a whole new system. Easiest thing to do is pick a select few models and stick to them, know them inside and out. If you are a small company and really want to specialise, then just use 1 brand, or 2 at the most, like 1 PC brand and 1 Stand alone Brand, both having a great range of products. DVRs are an ever changing industry and what was a POS a year ago could be a great product now, best thing is to get demos, test them out, see which works best for you and your clients, and make sure you get some decent tech support and warranties for them. Doesnt matter how great the DVR is if you cant get support for it, small warranties, then its a waste of money. Think about the features your clients need, and what you would feel best selling, then look around for that. Me, its Ge Security and GeoVision, and contomplating a couple budget Stand Alone DVRs also, such as the Active-Tek, AvTech, and the PowerTellecom. Rory

    GE Storesafe 4-Channel

They require 5400rpm HDDs. I've never replaced them like that, but generally you are supposed to be able to just switch it out, and once the Dip Switch on the HDD is set properly, the DVR will auto configure the HDD. You will then need the DVR Uploader softare from GE to upload the Browser HTTP server onto the HDD, if you want to use that. You maybe able to use 1 single 7200rpm drive without issues, supposedly I was told it will work, when adding more then the internal DVR power supply cannot power them unless they are both 5400rpm Drives. GE also has a Power Upgrade kit but you need to goto GE to get factory certified to be able to purchase those. I've never used the Bosch, probably never will. GE DVRs have been out from day one, under the name Kalatel, Phillips used to even use their DVRs and Software, from what I could see back then. If it was me, I would buy the GE over the Bosch, but thats just me. Rory

    Memory Stick Backup?

I filled 2 CDs before with 30 Minutes of video from 13 cameras on a GE Stand Alone DVR recording in Wavelet. It depends on the cameras used - Image File Size.

    Feedback about 4 Channel DVR

Hi Wendy, thanks for joining, it is reassuring to see a manufacturer visiting the forum to join in on the discussions, especially from such a well respected and high profile company as Avermedia. I look forward to many more informative posts from you and/or your colleagues. I would like to extend a warm welcome to your company. Thanks again Rory

    sanyo tiger dvrs

I havent used them directly, but i wasnt impressed with their remote video software when i tested it out from a member here. I still prefer the GE DVR software for a stand alone.
  20. I look at it this way - that Everfocus is simply an overpriced budget DVR, so why pay high prices for it when you can buy a budget DVR at budget Pricing .. Check out the AvTech DVR for a budget 4, 9 or 16 channel unit ... software isnt great but you get exactly what you pay for, other wise check out (in order of pricing lowest to highest) the Sanyo, Nuvico, and then a little pricier but better, the GE StoreSafe. Or even better, a PC based system for faster speeds and higher quality evidence sharing. VST - whats the Nubix 16?
  21. Should be a little better at 640x480 or 720x480, if you want, load on VNC and then I can go on the DVR PC and check it all out for you. PM me and we can continue via email if you like. Thanks Rory PS. I think this is dejavue [http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=33417]
  22. What version of software do you have ...? The System its on shouldnt matter that much, Im running a GV250 on my main PC here and runs great, only time i ever have an issue is when i run some video editing of a 800+mb video file that hogs all the memory and CPU, but even so, it doesnt make a diff most of the time. Im also talking i have Adobe and Paint Shop open the same time, Nortons System Works running, and a million Browser windows .. and i get great quality even on the 380TVL $50 bullet .. let me know, PM me if you want me to look at it via VNC..
