the AX70T has dual beams also, just different technology and smaller beams, hence the price is less. Anything over those are decent, but they still can false. We've used alot of the 200's, 250's, & 500's. Used the 70Ts mostly on cheaper jobs, or ones where they want to cover alot of windows or doors (install on the house's wall). Pulse count is always set to the fastest unless you encounter false alarms, and then it still only slows it down for the criminals to get through. Birds can false the dual beams easy enough, depending on their size. the 200's are the most popular, due to the price increase from the 200 to 250. Basically with beams, must sacrifice the chance of an occasional false alarm for greater security - cause they are still one of the best ways to secure your premises. If you can afford it use multiple beams in parallel. Motion detectors on the other hand, they false outside like there's no tomorrow.

ive installed tons, got them in my own yard here Cant get away from False alarms even with their best models, but it depends on the enviroment of the application, such as birds, dogs, etc, which beams used and how many sets of beams tied together as one .. they're designed to trigger when something over a certain weight crosses it, the Plus versions and above are the better units, the AX70Ts are very basic and even small birds can set them off. They generally have protection against rain, etc. Never had one go off due to weather conditions, just when trees are too close and blow accross. Regardless of false alarms, I like beams over anything else ... we've put them in luxury homes, all the major food stores here, beaches, docks, auto sales yards, wireless and hard wired, you name it ... did that for 5 or 6 years ... always run the beam wires in conduit, helps in the long run.

http://www.ge-consultantlink.com/Docs/camplus_man.pdf Set to DD Everything else can be default, you can turn on SAGC if it looks better, that makes it brighter, since its indoors only it could help, outdoors i never turn that on. BLC can stay on by default, if you have brightness/glare issues then turn it off. You shouldnt need LinkLock but wont hurt to leave it on default. manual. http://www.ge-consultantlink.com/Docs/camplus_man.pdf

Car Vandalism- See Pictures of house for suggestions
rory replied to surf1div1's topic in Security Cameras
it will work but you will loose some lighting ability as you would be looking through the smoked glass .. want clear glass or will cut down the light level even more, for day night apps we never use tinted or smoked, always clear. -

Do you have an alarm in the van? -

You will want something like a 12mm lens, or a varifocal 3-12mm. A 5-50mm would be better for identifying the criminal but then you are talking money (as you could zoom right in on the van like 20mm), and will also require extra lighing in the Van, or IR, as when you zoom the lens in close, it will get darker, requiring more light. If the lighting level is low, and you cant use IR, then you would at least need an Exview type BW camera. Not easy to find in anything but a Box camera, without a decent varifocal lens. Ofcourse then its not discreet anymore. Optionally you could find a Mini BW Weather resistant Dome, and use a 16mm fixed lens. WizKId has these, though the Extreme EX45SX.3xxbh LXR version is a lower lux chip, much like the Exview. The EX45 isnt cheap though, but you will want either Exview or in the Extreme case, LXR. The WizKid BW WZ30 dome is pretty inexpensive however, and comes in that white housing. http://www.wizkidoptotech.com/products/index.cfm?img=2 http://www.extremecctv.com/products/index.cfm?img=19 Ofcourse no guarantee you will see anything unless you add more light. yep, its the Bahamas Customs, since we are supposedly tax free, they kill us with customs, PCs are duty free though, but we still pay 7% stamp tax ..
-
the distributors on here that i have ordered from, know what Im talking about.
-
You're in the US though ... i did send something back to a manufacturer once, a big name brand, i had to pay shipping both ways, plus full 45% custom duty on its return trip on the original total, it was an expensive stand alone unit ... never again ... it took 3 months to get back here also!!

H ah haha .. i was just using a Linux PC DVR last night, it had a gold GUI ... whoa the chinese got a taste in colors hey ..

Whats the PNW? Can you get high voltage to the beams? Then you could just use Wireless TX's in a weatherproof box with Altronix Power Supplies and 12Volt Rechargable Batteries. We've done quite a few of them down here in the past.

i saw 7 features .. hmmm, BLC, AGC, AWB, ATW, Flickerless, AI, EI ... etc.
-
i'll get out of bed (well off the couch) for $20, and even go hop in my jeep, just driving down the road is another thing ..
-
Take a look at Optex, they have some of the best outdoor security products, and been in the industry for many years. http://www.optexamerica.com/indexes/security.cfm
-
i meant is it really worth making $20 a camera ... i just dont see the point of the headache anymore with cheap products (from an installer/tech side), unless you are selling bulk .. Like i said any BW camera will work in low light for a nght club, but a high res BW 600TVL is even better.

Which power for a camera? Power cord or Power Panel?
rory replied to RichTJ99's topic in Security Cameras
Look at something at least 6amps for 16 channels, basically most COLOR bullet cameras and hidden cams may be around 300ma, which times 16 is 4.8a, bit its best to get more, so if you only got the 4a version you may have issues later as you add other cameras (unless most of them are BW which only draw generally arounf 100-200ma each) 6a - ALTV1224-DC2 The AC is more common in professional installations, and actually cheaper, as alot of Pro cameras, Box and Domes, are 24VAC. We normally use these over 12VDC, but if you are mostly using bullet cameras and hidden cameras then it would be 12VDC or even the mixed unit of 12VDC and 24VAC - dont get the 2 mixed up, the 12VDC versions also have 24VDC. Basically it is either DC or AC, or a mixture of 8DC and 8AC. Say you had 4 bullet cameras and 2 hidden cameras that all ran at 12VDC, but also wanted to add some Box cameras or domes, then you could look at the Dual Voltage unit: ALTV1224C AC/DC. In your case just you probably just need the 16 channel DC box i listed above. You could get the 4amp version if you knew exactly what all the current draws of the cameras are, such as if they were BW bullets they may be pulling 100ma each ... so 4amps would be plenty. I generally always just get the 6amp or higher versions myself for 16 cameras. I had to delete the links due to adveritsing rules [sorry] -
