Another option is to look for used or bad IR cameras, and just use the IR from them - can sometimes get them for free or next to nothing. Then the IR is in its own housing already.
-
You get what you pay for. Good IR costs 10x that.

Settings for arecont 5100dn to use as LPR

Shutter would be set to high, balance the amount of IR you need. The above was just a test, not for moving vehicles or to be actually placed out in the field for LPR. -

if a $20 amazon camera can do it, hopefully the arecont can - both with some mods testing $20 color IR camera - hand over top of leds basically the IR cant be that powerful, just enough to pickup the plates at a certain distance, not to see anything else. Eg. See how the plates are picked up although too far from the camera, but that would be enough light to get the plates and nothing else at that distance, if the lens could zoom in that far. -
based on the Avtechs I have used, the Dahua are much better quality video and full of features, difference is night and day.

What monitor was used to focus them with?
-
It depends on the firmware, in general no - it would have PAL or NTSC installed. However one can normally apply a Config update to existing firmware for NTSC or PAL.
-
What are you using to focus it?

Adata Apollo, APOHDLED4-SF. Firmware Disaster!!

Telnet would be just to test the port is open, not to go any further with it, as Dahua dont give us the commands to talk to it. -

Ive used 700, 800, and 900 from Extreme CCTV, 900 was invisible to the human eye (unless Im blind). Ive been right in front of them (off to the side ofcourse), no glow, no red light. In fact I think one of the old UF500's I have in my garage now to test is 930nm. 99% of my work are pitch black apps, it actually kind of sucks. I would generally suggest against it as with the high powered gear that is dangerous. You dont know until your eyes start to hurt or your skin starts to burn (if within 3 feet of some). There is the loss of distance though with the higher filter, approx 20-30%. to compensate for some loss one can turn the power up higher. I cant speak for other brands of IR though, only what I used.

they put the copy protection on the card and stopped using the dongle, as far as I know. will PM the link.

Adata Apollo, APOHDLED4-SF. Firmware Disaster!!
rory replied to seanfry's topic in Digital Video Recorders
before you scrap it. Start, Run Type cmd and hit Enter Type TELNET IP PORT Where IP is the IP of the DVR, and port is the DVR's port (eg. 37777) See if that works, at the least it will tell you if the port is open. firmware updates do not overwrite the passwords, if you have changed the admin password previously try logging in with any network software and your custom password. Optionally, shut down the DVR and remove the battery for 3 minutes, then replace again and power back up. See what that does. -
The 7.05 I used didn't need the dongle, but that also depends on the card.
-
Problem is 8.xx updates the card, I dont recall if 7.xx does but I "think" it does. either way, I have 7.05, not 7.11

Adata Apollo, APOHDLED4-SF. Firmware Disaster!!

Thats strange as Dahua says 2.608 works for all their DVRs, I guess they forgot to mention it doesnt work with the LED model, and oh yeah unlikely for the VGA one either Actually I have installed 2.608 on the LE-A 4, 8, and 16 and the LE-U 32 ... but not the VGA models which I doubt it would work on. BTW there are 2 versions of 2.608 floating around, the initial release of May 2011, and a recent August release which is Spanish/English (Spanish default) with an NTSC config update - this newer version of 2.608 works much better than the initial release but as far as I know they are still beta. What firmware version do you have now to replace it with, and where did you get it from? There is typically no need to update the firmware unless you are having problems that the new firmware can fix. Telnet - would be to see if it is responding over the network. In XP, start, run, type cmd.exe, then type TELNET IP PORT where IP is the IP of the DVR and Port is 37777 or 37778. Or just ping the IP. Can you log onto the DVR at all using any of the network software? -
I got 2 holes in my head from nails in attics doing alarm runs .. I dont go in attics anymore for that same reason. Steel toe sounds great, until something like a hammer hits your ankle. I'd spend more on bullet proof vests and weapons. Bump cap sounds promising though. I normally just wear a camo cap. Cant look like a nerd round here, the ghetto would eat you up.
-
Right, take the port forward out for now, then just use the DMZ.
-
Also you could test the ports from the location using this site tool http://www.websitepulse.com/help/gadgets.server-test.html If you have XP and want to do it another way, goto Start, Run, type cmd and hit enter, then type TELNET IP PORT and hit enter - where IP is the IP address/ DDNS name and Port is your port to test. if its port 80 though try changing to another one as your ISP might be blocking it.
-
Yes, its like being connected direct to a modem. The DVR is read only embedded OS so no worries. Normally we like to forward the port but if you get stuck this is one way to test it.
-
Yes there are some. Check out the Dahua 32 channel, sold under various names in the US such as QVis. Holds up to 8x 2TB SATA Drives. 7fps 4CIF each channel, Real time live display, HDMI/VGA/BNC outputs, eSata, etc. I've helped install 3 of them so far, they work well.

maybe use rubber over it? Check this out to see how they do it http://www.louroe.com/products/specifications/emic_louroe.pdf http://www.louroe.com/products.php?id=56
