  1. yep Ive seen them before, seperate IR is always good. Sunkwang has a similar product, though this being chinese will be cheaper on the pocket, ill take a closer look at their other products. thanks Rory
  2. Mech Filter is something that goes in front of the CCD, normally cost more $$ think of it as having a BW camera, which is IR sensitive, then adding color to the image, then screwing on an IR Cut Filter onto the lens .. this just does it mechanically by sliding a filter back and forth over it depending on the digital light level (or in some camera cases they switch by manual or photocell). It is also a better way of doing it, better color images and BW images, as well as more sensitivity in BW mode, generally. Some even integrate an IR pass Filter which is even more sensitive to IR for night time. Auto Interchange IR Filter - Not sure what it is, it could be the same thing. I think there is now a way they do it digitally also. .. cant say for sure.
  3. this'll probably get moved by the more mature among us mods, but here goes 1-knowing when someone is coming up to my door, so i can get the machetes ready 2-watchin the potcakes drag my garbage off the wall and tear it apart before I can get outside to run dem 3-keepin an eye out for the repo man 4-watchin that big cookoe bird set off my darn beam! 5-knowing when the sun is coming up - time to goto sleep 6-watchin a gang of potcakes chasin a little cat around my car park 7-watchin the ambulances pass by every half hour or so 8-watchin the garbage truck pass by off schedule so i can run outside and chase dem down the street with a couple week old bags in my hands 9-watchin dat tief run and bolt over the wall when da alarm beam goes off at 5am 10-lastly, lookin back and seeing myself come back in after a few beers! oh yeah, i also use it for a demo for clients, go figure why i aint got no work
  4. ive deleted 2 e m a i l accounts in the last few years, this one will have to go soon. back in the 96-98 time line it was all h o t m a i l accounts which timed out decades ago
  5. id like a mini weather resistant dome, that you can just screw up from the outside, and adjust the position and focal length of the camera from the outside, and lock in place, so you dont have to go inside it .. high lux color, BW low lux Exview with Day Time IR cut filter .. 420TVL is fine, no IR required, Monitor out sealed removable plug so you can see it as you adjust it ..
  6. does he not mind his email being public ? Might want to pm them with that, remember this gets on google .. but good looking out
  7. yeah, IR Cut Filters arent cheap ... and then you are talking about a mechanism, then if you want to try digital it takes extra processing .. its a BW camera anyway with just Chroma added to obtain a color image, so without a IR cut filter it will pick up IR in day and night, sunlight emmits IR just as does an IR illuminator, different levels of light is all .. add an IR pass filter and you get more sensitivity to IR, but they cost more also ..without chroma the camera is more sensetive to IR, but the color camera can still pick up some IR from sunlight in the day. Hence is the saying not all cameras are made alike, not all are great for IR and hence checking the specs to see if what spectrum it can see, if its got a IR pass filter then it maybe able to see the higher spectrums also. Mechanical and Digital variations are available now, but makes the camera more expensive either way. The CCD used also plays a big part in what it does, eg, some Sony Exview Color CCDs will switch to BW by just turning off the chroma digitally so you get a BW image, but if it has a standard IR cut filter that is not removed and the lux level stays the same, it is not as sensitive and not reponsive to IR light, some remove the IR cut filter so it responds to IR light, or some just leave it out all together. you pay extra for the filter and the processing involved ... something like that, at least thats the way i see it from various manuafacturer info i got

    Fake Motion Detection

Dont know what DVR that is, but let us know so we dont buy it .. with most DVRs you can speed up the frames on motion detection, have it set to record by event (motion) and or timelapse (continuous) and then set pre and post times, even on the stand alones. All i use is motion detection recording on the DVRs i use so i know they dis work well
  9. true that .. for the price, and the 50' IR, its not a bad camera, even though its a narrow beam, still good power on it, but i cant get past the non IR cut filter part .. they got any around the same price without IR but with an IR filter, i know, im pushing it at that cost ... but yah never know the chinese .. they may just have something ..
  10. it also said it was a network camera ...

  15. i have self running demo software from the people that do the Licence Plate capture software for Extreme, PM me and ill send you a link to it. And if you need any more info on the Reg gear let me know, I have stacks of it here. Otherwise you could look at the GeoVision PC based, tweak it good and it will be stable, they have Licence Plate software also which would be 1/10th or less the price of the Extreme software/dvr. I have a demo online for that also, let me know. Then all you would need is the Geo GV800-4 channel card and a decent PC. One of us can jump on and tweak it for you via VNC or you could follow some steps on another thread. Alternatively GE Security have a 120fps 4 channel with DVD-RW - DVMRe-PRO-4 LIke i said though evidence sharing is much better quality with the PC system such as Geo. Rory

    Coax vs UTP

Yeah, i mean worst case scenerio you have the pole to play with, you can then look at other alternatives from the box to the cam in the event that it doesnt work out..
  17. its a $100 camera, i think we are lucky it even powers up ... The retailer if they only sold you one camera, probably made $2 - $5 off a camera like that ....

    Powertech cameras?

could just be an old camera or lens, or even a dirty lens, CCD chip images degrade over time also .. since its Korean i doubt its that cheap, but then that doesnt mean it doesnt look like crap also .. actually looks alot like a neverfocus camera .. the case anyways ..
  22. so not high res .. arghhh, i take back my previuos assessment then .. http://www.lsvt.com.cn/english/products/index.asp
