The relay is a relay, while the IO are just the inputs and outputs to the DVR .. so you need both as far as i know .. i havent used them yet, but used relays with alarm panels .. relays are used to trigger other devices, and you can provide voltage to those other devices also, such as sirens, lights, etc.

CCTV / Access Control Integration ???? Need Advise.
rory replied to kandcorp's topic in General Access Control Discussion
im wondering though, to do access you really need to also be a locksmith (to compete since locksmiths are doing CCTV also) .. so are you willing to learn that whole other industry as well .. -
ddi you try messing with the Bios settings, may have to change something in there .. rory

Yep, sorry we got off tract, im definately not saying dont use IE for remote video, activeX is still more featured than a similar java/javascript version, and requires IE for that. Jasper and i somehow went off topic talking about trojans and things ..
-
im not talking about privacy, im talking about IE allowing the installation of trojans and spyware, while FireFox does not ..
-
means activeX, vbscript, etc, trojans, will not install when using firefox, but when using IE they will .. hence dont surf any porn or casino sites with IE as you "will" get trojans and spyware, but it is 100% safe with firefox .. if one must use IE then should not be doing it without Spyblaster.

Im safe .... the main thing is that using FireFox you are safe when surfing the web ..
-
that is internet explorer basically, just customized ... i prefer safer surfing with FireFox ..

hi and welcome. we dont like to say the X word here .. As you would have gathered from browsing the other forums, there are certainly alot of choices out there. Like VST said, there are Stand Alone and then PC based DVRs. If you are fairly PC Literate then you may want to take a look at a PC based system, mostly for higher recording speeds and extensive features. If you are the Plug, Play, and Forget about it type, then you may be better off looking at a Stand Alone DVR. For PC DVRs there are alot of options, the following come to mind: GeoVision, I-View, Video Insight, NetProMax, LuxRiot, among many others. with GeoVision (and others) it is best to buy a ready built system from a rep, though even if you buy the cards alone, there are plenty of tech guys on here with Knowledge of most well known cards/software. As for stand alones, its all about budget, what can you afford .. What are you looking for in a CCTV system, are there any particular features you know you want? Please list anything you can think of. thanks Rory

Slow shutter though, not good for CCTV ..
-
i did a review on a samsung GVI zoom camera a year ago, they are all basically the same, night time image under low light wasnt good, without messing with the shutter. I was looking for an "easier" camera for day night, never found it ..
-
could be one of thousands of cameras out of asia ..
-
hmmm, well yah going to tell us already ..?

one is clean ... one looks better than the other one ..
-
no idea, what did you pay for it? looks like this one? http://www.wave-p.com/en/productsc-5.htm If so, then you are more than likely stuck with that .. its a cheap card and therefore software wont do much .. software is where the money is .. Rory

We install PVC or any conduit only when the client "has the cash" to do so, as its not cheap. If its going outside, they have no other choice, except perhaps wire mould for cosmetics mostly, run along a wall.
-
another year on the forum, everyone have a good one! Rory
-
there's easier ways to disable the camera than trying to locate the conduit, which shouldnt be exposed anyway if you can help it, such as paint gun from a distance .. imagine EMT pipe on the ocean side ..

Quality from High to low: 1-Japan 2-Korea 3-Taiwan 4-China
-
i agree they are slightly overpriced on some of their products, though most of their cameras are made in Korea. Korean hardware are generally higher quality than Taiwanese, and cost more.
-
For decent IR they will need to spend more, just sell them on some motion lighting inside the store, it works well. Small areas with cheap $200-300 IR cameras will work fine though.
-
I used the CVC-637EX when it had the same lux specs as this one, it was okay, nothing amazing .. a True Day Night makes a real difference.
-
i would spend the cash on a really sweet LCD oh yeah, and a very good PC, then add a real time DVR Card such as the Geo 1240 or 1480, or buy a ready built system like VueStar (scottj), then add some decent cameras. IR like Extreme cameras for pitch dark locations ... depends what your budget is .. im myself am tired of the work involved with custom cameras and regular housings, so im just sticking with the all in ones now, Extreme makes some nice cameras for that, and if you use a view finder in the day to get an exact lens focal point, you can order the camera preset for that. Bullet cameras do only so much, and then you need some "real" Infrared .. anyway, depends what you are looking to spend, PM me if you like .. There are ofcourse the budget stand alone DVRs ... but you get what you pay for, you will definately get more fun out of a full featured DVR over a basic unit .. Rory PS. Sounds like a sweet place to live

Sal we need a demo dude on off light switch, or open close front gate, something like that .. man if i only had the relay thing .. PS. does it work with the GV250??
