here, this is what Jason was telling you. . http://www.arguscctv.com/ PS. Jason im going to email you next week to clear away that other thing .. thanks Rory -
well Geo comes with Java Applet also, very basic though and needed/needs some more tweaking .. the javascript is cutsom though.. as for stand alones that have Java Applets .. Everfocus, Dedicated Micros ..all i can think of right now .. Customizing the software depends on what the DVR manufacturer gives you, PC based DVRs are much easier to customize things as its on a windows platform and then you can even write your own additional software to run on the server, GE Stand alones are also easy these days as they have Admin sections that allow you to upload edited pages, images, etc .. havent messed with it beyond customizing a GUI with ActiveX though ..

yeah right here, Geo Vision ..

Just that its using that generic software, which i have used in the past, i wouldnt buy it, thats first impressions anyway, even a year or so ago we tested out DVRs with built in CDRs like the provideo (OEM) units, and they werent great, never sold them. Really its going to boil down to how stable the unit is, and yes those Linux Embedded DVRs DO crash, especially the Hi Sharps and Neverfocus units ... And if it doesnt work over the lan without crashing like the ones i have tested do, then id rather stay away from them .. but then thats just me ... we spent alot of money testing out this and that, wont do that again, they gotta send me a "free" demo unti to test .. one thing, the AvTech units never crashed on us, and those are cheap ... the PowerTellecom 4 channel they used to sell also never crashed .. CDR, who needs it once you have a USB or near decent network software .. anyway you cut it, a stand alone RTOS will never have the back up quality as a Windows PC based for evidence sharing .. unfortunately, at least not with the current technology. -

no, but they are using the same generic remote software all the low end asian DVR companies are using. -
No idea, but once it has all the windows folders, system folders, a registry, a root drive and locations where the software can install, then it may work. Peronsally i dont know anything about macs .. sorry .. Its difficult enough just getting this stuff to work with Windows, let alone on a Mac ..

A Louroe Mic? Depends on the mic as to what wire goes where for the mic, normally power and audio, 3 wires, can use standard 2 pair telco, 3 wires used are power, ground, and audio, then you bring that wire back to the DVR location and splice off for power and audio, and audio goes to the DVR, Power goes to a 12VDC source. Anyway, once its a mic like those, just tie it into a RCA cable, splice it how ever you wish, you can even use a Terminal Strip to join it if you dont like tape or heat shrink. Ground to ground, center to center, the RCA plug end goes into the Audio Input on the DVR.

For a Perimeter Situation you would normally use beams: here are a few: 250' / 500' http://www.optexamerica.com/products/prodpage.cfm?product=ax250plus 350' / 650' http://www.optexamerica.com/products/prodpage.cfm?product=ax350-iii Beam Towers http://www.optexamerica.com/products/prodpage.cfm?product=rednet there are also special fence systems, they cost alot though. And for the cameras, if its a large perimeter and you want good video quality with less problems, you should use Active UTP, or Fiber. As for the DVR System, depends what make and model you are looking at, any ideas? Rory

Most DVR Client Software that I know of are all PC compatible only. The web browser viewer will only work if it uses Java or Javascript, not ActiveX. Rory

i tink he lives across the road from a grass house ...
-
is it that you want to hang the housing upside down?? No housing for a camera that size will be very discreet, you would need a smaller box camera and then maybe a dome housing, Wren has some housings for that. Pano has the mini Box DN WD camera also ..
-
if you can get into the camera, and try and find a small rubber or foam ring, glue that around the lens area, so it is tight up against the dome glass when it is closed, to block out any IR getting onto the lens glass area from inside, stopping the IR reflecting back onto the lens.
-
yeah, it goes up and around in a ring, but not as evident as the lower part ..
-
IR beam in red, lens reflection in yellow .. much better than it was.
-
I need help guys, dont know which camera to get!!
rory replied to camera714's topic in Security Cameras
here is your IR beam btw .. Looks like a short range IR illuminator, OEM style .. either way, any IR you use inside there is going to refelect off that iron bar, either move it downward, to the right more, or move the bulb outside of that area so it hits the yard at an angle, though the camera is only positioned for that area, not the yard either .. Either way its short range IR and all you are pointing it at is that iron bar and roof .. unless thats the flash from your camera we are seeing ? -

yep, ground level definately .. in this case im going to probably switch out the lens for an IR lens so it stays in focus in low light also, but only if the client says so. It stays in great focus in the day and with IR but in very low light it is not ..then again its very dark in very low light so .. Biggest thing i found with these Sanyos, is that they switch to quick when a car has its brights on, so im going to see if I can find a photocell and use the manual switchover .. ofcourse the Extreme CCTV Box cams come with Photocell switchover .. Client said money isnt a issue just wants the best, so I think time to switch the sanyos for either some all in one Extremes, or at least an Extreme box cam with IR corrected lens .. -
some more .. the darker spots within the beam represent IR glare. EX82 Beam - its 30 degrees and on a 4mm setting. UF100 on full power, 60 degree beam, note the glare from the building, its just too power ful for that close. UF500 with 12mm lens, 10 degree beam ... note the power of this baby. - Negative Image, then Solarized. Notice how the IR light goes way to the end of the driveway, as well as the edges, this is a great setting with the 10 degree beam, and a 12mm lens.
-
Paint Shop Pro, well they all have it .. select COLOR and SOLARIZE .. also Negative Image gives a similar Effect. I wonder if they sell Solarizing Glasses, would be perfect to see the IR beam when adjusting at night ..
-
this shows the exact IR beam for that dome ... not sure what the lens setting is on this, but im taking its maybe a 1/4" and perhaps 4.3mm, so that beam is probably 10-20 degrees ..? this is a 60 degree IR beam from the Extreme UF100, power lowered manually 20% to get rid of glare on that building as was too powerful. this is with a 3mm setting 1/3". (should have used 2x 30 deg EX26LEDs and that bush is killing some of the beam)
