  1. Center2 needs to be on a PC with some HDD space, and something kind of fast .. though i tested it on my PC and with the GEO DVR software mimimized in the background, 2.0Ghz 512MB with a GV250- 2 channel ... and very little HDD space .. it worked without any issues, ran it for a couple of days .. HDD space will depend on how many cameras, how much motion they get, and how long you want to save recorded images for. Rory

    Remote viewing DVR's

maybe, switch it to port 81 if you can, and chage the port forward also to 81 .. then see what you get. Also, if its a PC based DVR make sure things like Windows Firewall and Nortons Internet Worm Blocker are configured properly for the program and port being used.
  4. Welcome .. First question would be, where did you buy it from? Might want to take a look here first, just incase. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3301 thanks Rory

block the pc from unwanted apps.

leave it in a user mode in full screen, so they cant minimize. And lock it up somewhere so they cant do anything else to it ... Better yet, have them sign a waiver that says any service required will be billed accordingly, if IT staff touches the settings of the DVR or installs any additional software. - Make some money off them
  6. well i went to the only camera store here, took a 20 minute walk and 1 hour drive ... anyway, they dont sell filters, except for large lenses .. oh well ..

    Which cards

I've used both the Iview and Geo, Iview is a decent card and software runs well, though it doesnt come close in the features compared to Geo. If you need a cheaper card, but still of decent quality, and dont need all the bells and whisteles, then Iview is a good one to go with .. though not too many people sell it in the US.
  9. Anywayz, so in bright sunlight for backfocusing or regular focusing, should use the NF or a PF? Would it be fare to say use a NF for back focus at Infinity, and a PF for general focusing? And i take the level of the NF will depend on the amount of light at the time? Whats good for Bright sunlight, and then overcast, 0.5? Rory
  10. Have fun .. http://www.tiffen.com/filters.htm http://www.tiffen.com/products.html?tablename=filters&filter_format=Screw-In Polarising Filters: http://www.tiffen.com/ultrapol.htm Neutral Density Filters: http://www.tiffen.com/NEUTRAL%20DENSITY.htm They screw right on the lens of the camera. These are meant for Film Photography but also work with CCTV Video Cameras. Rory

    Home Automation and GeoVision

right here .. http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/product/GV-io.htm Outputs for sirens, door releases, etc, inputs from alarm contacts, motions, keyfobs, etc. I think for high voltage devices you would need a convertor. Rory

    Home Automation and GeoVision

dont know but if someone sent me the IO stuff id hook all kinds of stuff up and let yall know : - )))))))) basically anything that can be triggered .. a release, alarm contact, siren, etc ... all can use low voltage relays. Then just use high voltage relays for the lights, or even X10 if you must mess with those toys

    Home Automation and GeoVision

i havent with Geo, but you can use any Relay, even buy them from Rat shack .. just for simple stuff like releasing doors, etc, actually if the door has an electronic release already you can just tie that into the IO for geo and work it like that .. anything else, depends on the voltage for which relay you buy ... such as you can get high voltage relays for lights etc ... and then that converts down to the IO on Geo .. 19. I dont know that brand .. is it PC or stand alone?
  20. my bet is its the TV, do you still get the lines if the TV is disconnected ..? or is this a stand alone DVR and your using the TV as the monitor, if so, i would try a different TV or monitor. Bad RCA input on TV will cause that.
  21. Hi You would need something custom. What other DVR brands do you use? Rory
  22. I got a featured article last one on the following web page. http://www.extremecctv.com/home.cfm

Im in an Article on Extreme CCTV

Thanks Hey, and they dont even need backfocusing
  24. Yep, anwyay that didnt last, wasnt really in focus ... in wide angle anyway, okay whats the best lighting condition to back focus in, without a filter, since i cant even get a darn tinted piece of glass down here ... also, i have a 50-50mm Computar lens im working with .. PS. I dont think i really ever had to back focus any of the other ones .. I have to do this indoors .. anyway, im not too worried about whether I have to refocus it if i zoom it in .. which i have to anyway .. im doing it in my appt which is only 20' long so i need to do this in wide angle now .. so far it is a great focus once i adjust it in some like 12mm ... waqs having issues for a bit there where only parts of the image was getting focused, had to pull the lens off and replace it again and power on off etc, then it came back to normal .. I back focused in low light, where only 1 light in the hall was on .. focused it in the same light, when i turn the light on its clear ...and when i turn it off it stays clear .. obviously not 'as' clear as its lower lighting .. but the writing i was using to focus on stays clear. I got some more time to play with it .. but anyway, any tips on setting the Iris pot level? That part also is messing me up .. Should i just do it indoors with the lights on .. or does it have to be done outdoors ..? thanks Rory
  25. so Coop its best to backfocus in telephoto rather than wide angle correct? I would imagine as you can focus better when zoomed in on something close to the furthest focal lenth of a lens .. i mean i just did it so thats why im saying, i tried it wide angle but cant see everything as clear, so did it in telephoto and was much easier. Both stayed in focus in wide angle and in telephoto ... not inbetween though ofcourse .. I need a darker tinted glass though, anyway, its low light from overcast now so .. Rory
