Multiple video signals on one coax
rory replied to lpdog's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I only know of a 2 way combiner like that, from Foresight and it still has its limitations. http://www.foresight-cctv.com/VDS2500.pdf Otherwise you could look at something like: 1-UTP Twisted Pair - 1x 16 channel Active Reciever and 1x 16 channel Passive Transceiver - for 3000' using Cat3 Multi Pair Bundle - eg. 16 pairs = 16 video signals (power the cameras seperately at each location or multiple ones in a central location near the cameras) http://www.nvt.com/products/NV_1613A.html http://www.nvt.com/products/NV_1662R.html The Active reciever gives you:: -3,000ft (1km) when used with any passive NVT transceiver or hub -5,280ft/1 mile (1,6km) when used with NV–653T transmitter and Cat-2 or 3 wire (single channel transmitters with cat2 or 3) -8,000ft /1.5 miles (2,4km) NTSC when used with NV–653T and Cat-5 or better (single channel transmitters with cat5) 2-Analog Matrix Systems but still need tiwsted pair to link them and the control keyoads, and not sure how well that works or what it does, check out: http://www.geindustrial.com/ge-interlogix/kalatel/prd_matrix_switcher.html 3-Fiber - big dollars ... best bet but not cheap. if all it is for is a deterrent, then just buy some dummy cameras .. will save you a bundle. Sanyo makes a dummy camera that looks identical to their working Box cameras. Rory

i thought jasper might have been meaning Internet Explorer 9x -
LEDs can last as much as 10 years, so far they have lasted 4 years (5 years 1 of them). Not sure on the replacement part, I would figure after that length of time would be best to replace the camera with a new one, as CCD imagers eventually wear out and start looking crappy after 5 years anyway. Thats the only thing I dont like about the UF500, it needs the bulb to be replaced alot, at least every 2 years, as it is a Halogen Bulb - whereas these are LEDs.

they have a built in fan. They are made in Canada so im sure they are used to the cold climate also. Truly are waterproof, they have rubber suction sealed plates on the front and the back. they also have the ZX55 which is double the infrared distance ... and they now have the EX30 which is the same housing as the EX82 but a single day night camera, though i choose the EX82 over that model.
-
No, the EX82 is double the price. The EX82 are 2 seperate cameras with Varifocal Lenses, it uses a Photo cell to switch between the 2 cameras, and has level adjustment pots for both the IR and the Photo cell switching and power. The color camera is a strictly daytime or full light color camera, great quality and high resolution. The BW camera is a lower resolution camera designed primarily for infrared applications. Performance outdoors is great, i have had an EX82 on the beach side for 5 years now, and they have been through many tropical storms.

Explain importance of ActiveX control
rory replied to cachecreekcctv's topic in Computers/Networking
1 - You would need to be using Internet explorer browser 2 - First time you will need to install the ActiveX Control - set Security Settings in the ActiveX section (Tools, Options, Security, Custom) to prompt where they are disabled 3 - Reload the page and click ok when it asks if you want to install such and such program. ONLY DO THIS WITH A WEB PAGE THAT YOU ARE CERTAIN IS LEGIT. -
its cheap even for a clone . .. so yeah its a pirated card.
-
wont work in safe mode as drivers arent loaded, unless you specify exactly what you want loaded.
-
thanks, here are 2 images that aren't on there.

Combo Cards Quality of live videos

do you have .NET Framework updated to the latest version, and De-Interlacing is enabled or set to Automatic (not "Weave") in the Catalyst Control Panel? -
though down here there is no actual law that uses CCTV video as evidence in the courts, they still try to use it, both the defence and the prosecuters so basically what i normally do is make AVI files and put those on CD, along with the original raw video format, and the software to play it. This is as far as digital only systems go. Another thing one of my clients does is create standard VCR tapes from the monitor out, and also give that to the police and lawyers.

Here's the Extreme versions, they are more powerful IR than the WizKid .. http://www.extremecctv.com/products/index.cfm?img=65 http://www.extremecctv.com/products/index.cfm?img=5

Actually I would think in the US you would have more chance with a Kalatel Multiplexer .. also Kalatel was a much bigger player in the industry, next to ATV.
-
You would need the muliplexer that the tape is recorded on, as the protocols are different for each one. Basically you need something to demux the tape, as what actually is on that Time Lapse tape is super fast switching video, full images from each camera individually. If played back in a standard VCR you will probably not see anything. If played back on another mux it may just be super fast switching images as it cannot recognise it. Kalatels are common Muxes and been around from day one, especially in the US ... but there are many more, such as the Dedicated Micros mux mentioned above. Best bet would be to find out what systems your local security companies are using and then get back to us on that. Rory

closets are hot down here, drop ceilings are okay though .. but not that sturdy .. and lots of dust ... embedded stand alones should manage okay in those situations though ... but i think they were talking about a PC DVR ..
