why all this when you have my program anyway ..? multiview doesnt do checks for all the geo error messages like mine anyway once you are happy thats all that matters ..
-
did you install my program? otherwise ..run the GeoFix program .. that also installs the activeX and codecs .. Still, if you are going to use the browser, then you need to set security to run activeX. Rory

no, my program doesnt use anything to do with Multiview, just web cam .. but still my program doesnt need a port number, however there must be a port forwarded (any port) for it to be able to connect to, other wise it cant get by the router. The program installs on anything, even works on windows ME (tested it), just install it, port forward port 81 and you are good to go. Here's that browser basic version .. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/geo/default.asp Rory

Hmmm, just use my program?

Okay .. well like i said, multiview doesnt need a port number, but the browser does.

Web Cam is installed when you load the second page. Multi View installs if you click on Mulitview from the second page, if it is installed already, then it just opens. Both have 2 activeX's each. The first one for each do a check on your PC to see if they are installed, if they are not, then they install the set up files (codecs, etc) to the appropriate folder, then they load that installation. If they are already installed, the 2nd activeX kicks in which is the main one. My Program registers files and installs the codecs and other related files on loading, incase it is not there yet, if it is already to go it just loads. But thats just me. Also my program has a setup.exe file that does it all on installation, the loading part is just a check which the user never sees. But to connect to a DVR from a remote location the DVR still has to be port forwarded in the router, to the enabled web cam port number and DVR IP. No port number is required in my program though, it just connects, as with the multiview, as they are not browser based. Rory

Jasp, my program doesnt use the multiview ActiveX at all, just the web cam ActiveX, but the multi view, from what I can tell, just uses the Webcam activeX as well. Multi View, though personally i never use it, but have watched it, it is a seperate activeX that creates a directory then opens the program, which is not a browser based app. If you VNC to the PC then it will work as it would locally .. still i am lost to what you are asking? Okay, but you are running this from the internal network, not remotely?
-
When you say multi view .. what do you mean?

the browser's default HTTP port is 80, and i think 8080 .. if you want to use any other port then you need to specify it. If you can connect to Port 80 remotely, and you have a router, then either it is left wide open (DMZ) or port 80 is forwarded. As for why the program doesnt need to specify a port .. got me .. must just sniff it out in the activeX .

Never heard of it until now .. anyway, which one is it? Which power lead, the camera or the transformer? Generally the center is positive and the outer is negative, from looking at one of them it is 12VDC, but need a model number to be exact. http://www.geconsumerproducts.com/smarthome/prod_0_1.htm

my program uses the same activeX component as the webcam. If port 80 is open, then you will need to port forward to it to connect from the outside, if from the internal network, then it will work without port forward. If Port 80 is closed to the outside, and you want to use port 81, you will need to port forward port 81, and setup the webcam server for port 81 instead of port 80. If using the browser, you will have to enter :81 after the IP/Name, if using my program, you do not have to enter any port. Rory

High Resolution, what is the definition?
rory replied to jisaac's topic in General Digital Discussion
approximates: Color = 470TVL BW = 570TVL Also, look for picture / image elements, or Effective Elements, H x V. Typically a high res color camera (480TVL) can be 768H x 494V, and medium res (380TVL) 542H x 492V .. these vary a little up or down, and also alot of OEMs wont even list this in their spec sheets.. Ive been getting "alot" of action on my router, even though everything is closed off to the wide world web, way too many incoming requests, so i went snooping and found the same range of IP's attacking the same ports over and over, so obviouslty i closed a whole range of ports off just in case, but the router also deals with them, I still did it on my own PC just incase. Ok .. Scanners ,,, here is one i found last night, anyone else got any to share? http://www.seifried.org/freescan2/ and also, here is GRC's scanner once again, this one is good for checking closed or open ports as well: https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 Rory

Halogen Bulb - but there is more to it than just the bulb. Also here is a new Speco Bullet: "Split Glass Technology to avoid IR reflections" - so they claim http://www.specotech.com/cart/products/productDetails.asp?prodid=790 As for the halo effect, the lens is not close enough to the glass, or the ring is not stopping the IR from getting into the lens area and causing reflection on the lens. I had it way back when with the Speco BW IR camera, simply adjusted the camera's guts and was okay then, it was also white ones with white sunshields. no halo effects. Also someone mentioned the Sunshield causing the problem, and that also makes sense .. reflection onto the lens from the IR. If you have IR hitting anything too close to the camera it can reflect back onto the lens and cause issues. With the Extreme gear it typically just blinds the whole view as its so powerful, compared to the bullet cameras, plus the Extreme gear (UF500) will catch the object on fire if too close (within 3 feet approx) . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_effect

my router is blocking them though . .. just want to do some serious traces on these IPs so i can email their ISP. google uses alot of ports .. traced their IP as one in the list .. weird ..
-
dont get too addicted, you will end up only getting 2 hours sleep a night like me
-
a whole bunch of ports ... 1026, 1027, 2, 1433, 6346, 3306, 1031, and 80, just from the latest log Its a whole bunch of IP addresses, which i tried, but cant trace completely, though one of them took me to an asian site. No biggie as im in stealth mode, no ports open, its just the point that im getting them, perhaps that is effecting my download speed ..
-
tis why i install the IR seperate of the camera ..
-
he he .. black, white, doesnt matter, i have black and white IR bullets at a place here ..they all have IR glare issues when they are dirty.
-
no. The Geo software only handles 16 cameras, and as far as I know none of them can be stacked like that, at least not using the Geo software.

What Scott said, you want to make sure Modem Srv is turned off, use TCP server, this is if you are using the Remote View Software. Also your DSL ISP could be blocking ports, if you are trying to connect via webcam, try a different HTTP Port, change it in the WebCam server as well as in port forwarding, try 81, 1080, 88, etc. https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 Click Proceed, check your ports to see if port 80 is not stealthed. I cant help with the Hybrid card, but the DSP card is just an analog output add on to the DVR cards. Id like to try the Hybrid card one day though ...

I'll leave it to the guys that have built those models, i know having just got a 1480 from VueStar, for a client, the ATI card is great. It has VGA, S-VHS, and DVI outputs. Where the S-VHS comes in useful is this ... monitor out to an additional Monitor using Composite input, or TV with AV. The 1480 has the DSP card for the actualy live video output, which is also great. What i did, or in the process of, but tested it today, is using an LCD for the DVR configuration, playback etc. CLient also has a 21" Color CCTV monitor with Vid A, Vid B, and Vid C (SVHS). DSP Output goes to Vid A ATI SVHS Output to Vid C What happens is there is a manager, who needs to only view the live video, and change cameras and views, so thatw where the Vid A comes in, high quality on the CCTV Monitor, its great. He uses the IR Remote so doesnt need to go near the PC, keyboard, or mouse. The CCTV Monitor quality is much crisper than the LCD, but the LCD is nice for confuration and playback. Next, the courts down here can only use VCR tapes, so the owner can use the SVHS output from the ATI Card, using the ATI Catalyst control, i cloned the PC LCD to the CCTV Monitor Vid C. This way he can play back on a high res monitor, switch to full screen easily and using loop out from Vid C to a normal VCR Recorder, he can simply click record, stop, etc, for what video he wants on tape .. i know, going back a step, but thats how it is. He also can easily make the CD with AVI files for the actually investigators. Either way, the ATI card rocks, i dont know the exact model off hand, perhaps Scott can fill you in. Rory
