Well, i took a chance on a housing and ended up on my butt! Basically i ordered a APW housing, ive used them in the past, but not this model. Generally they are good. This is the model I have: http://www.apw.com/productsServices/productShowcase/ccsh-10al.jsp Pros - 1-Its small 2-Its Vandal Resistant 3-Its inexpensive Cons - 1-Its TOO small that a Sanyo Box camera is too WIDE for the housing, with the Auto iris lead connected. The camera itself may be a little bigger than the GE camera, but its not THAT big. Basically the Sanyo fits into it, but the housing bolt for the camera does not line up with the camera. Its just too narrow. 2-The camera leads have to come through the Mid way of the bottom base of the housing, which basically goes directly underneath the center of the camera about mid way. This means maga bending on the RG59 ... then bending again at the back of the camera for the connection. 3-Its not really an outdoor housing. They claim its an indoor/outdoor housing, but it has no rubber seals anywhere, has 2 vents in the rear, and basically just doesnt look nor feel weather resistant AT ALL. Basically, I would say it is a decent housing for a warehouse, indoors, and perhaps underneath a covered outdoor porch, and using a mini box camera with a manual iris lens, but thats as far as id go. Thankfully thunder storm season is over (though another is on the way as I speak!) and hopefully wont get any heavy storms until I can change them for a GE WeatherProof Housing in the next week or so .. Ill post some images of the housing later tonight .. Rory

Hi, welcome .. 100' will be too far away, basically if you have a light mounted near the camera, it will not light up the area 100' away (unless you get a large light). If you have a light mounted 100' away, it will just be a dot basically, the surrounding area will be dark. You may see what is in that dot, but either way 100' is too far to identify. You could however mount a light 100' away, then use a 5-50mm lens to manually zoom the camera into that area on installation. That Sony camera should do pretty well in low light, though its not a high res camera (according to specs found on google - 380TVL?) At night time clarity drops, even with lighting, even with a good low light camera, ofcourse the larger the light the better. BTW I just installed a 400'+ IR Spot Bulb last night ..and a 80x80 IR Bulb also, from Extreme .. sweet stuff, like having a ton of lights or even close to daylight, but still after 50' or so cant identify people, and if they are too close or in line of the IR center, too much glare on their face. Still nice to see in Pitch dark Rory

you need to set both the DVR Server Software to 800x600, and then the Computer Screen Res to 800x600. Not sure how it is done on Anykeeper. Still, why not just use the Remote Software that comes with it? Rory
-
on the VNC server itself, the VNC software, goto configuration and set up the display part in there to view all colors .. or make sure it is set up, or it wont show all colors and wont see the cameras .. except maybe in 9 way view o r higher as they are then smaller camera views ..

check this out: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000474.htm

Are you using Internet Explorer, cause that message will appear in other browsers.
-
You also would need to set up the VNC server to show all colors .. But I would never use Remote Desktop or VNC to view the cameras. Rory

was thinking, if the highest resolution of some cards are only 640x480, why dont they design the software in 640x480 ... it makes sense .. cause then you have higher quality video ... at least it will seem like that. Its very easy to have the program switch the screen res to 640x480 automatically when it opens, then switch it back to the normal res on exit ... they then just design the buttons, etc, smaller so it looks normal. Also same goes for 720x480 res, should be in 800x600 screen res. Just a thought .. Switch your screen res to the highest recording/viewing res of the card and see what i mean. If you are using an LCD then, well, doesnt matter a whole lot anyway, but for a CRT, it is an improvement. It should at least be a thought for full single camera view. They should also consider a stand alone emulation mode, where the user never sees a windows type GUI, all full screen and using an IR remote to pop up the search screen. Yah know for the clients you dont want touching anything .. heck they dont even need a search mode .. touch screen monitor also would help. Rory

nah, when its in full screen mode it is perfect the gui itself is out of whack though ..

ill take one please
