    17" lcd with bnc input

pixelised = bad image quality. 1- different technology 2- LCDs normally run much higher resolution than the video eg. Comp Video = 720x480, LCD Res = 1024x768. If you can get an LCD that allows you to switch Resolutions, to 640x480 or 800x600, it will help, but still it will not come close to quality on a TV or even better, a CCTV monitor.

    Geovision 800

Make sure office and photochop arent runing on start up .. check msconfig. The only software I put on a DVR is the DVR Software, and VNC. Also, any printers installed?? The all in ones can cause problems also.

    17" lcd with bnc input

Be forewarned, analogue to LCD quality is horribly pixelised in general. Best I have seen yet is on a Sharp 15" LCD TV. Otherwise the BNC version LCDs I have used, or seen in action, have been like pulling my big molar, cause I can't stand bad quality video And the brands were far reaching. meanwhile ... http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1640138&CatId=0 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1576752&CatId=0 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1355754&CatId=37 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1446041&Sku=S450-8320

  18. fujinon & computar, both great choices.
  19. Basically i use a PC DVR for what they are good for, speed and remote video. They sure arent the best at local quality, so they have to be set to the highest possible quality they can go. On 5 cameras I can go through a 250GB HDD in less than a week. I set them all to smart motion recording. so they go the fastest possible per camera, depending on the card, which is normally either a 120fps or faster. 640x240 is low res really, uness you go up to at least 640x480, but I use 720x480 unless for some reason it is someone eleses camera job and the camera quality is bad, then I just use 320x240. Most of the customers will never learn how to play back the video, in the low end 10K jobs
  20. I cant speak for VI, but i run other DVRs at 720x480 recording and display with 8 cameras, with a 2.93 celleron, 512MB DDR, and have no issues, obviously the GUI becomes faster with more RAM and a Faster CPU, but if your main goal is recording and remote viewing, then its all good. I actually had I-view with 4 cameras in 720x480, 120fps, running on a 1.5Ghz celleron for quite a few months with no problems (had to use some of the PCs hardware for some other PC upgrades so its just sitting now) VST: I take it that 3 months is in low res and motion, and only 4 cameras?
  21. Geo Vision actually use great cards, the software isnt bad also, stable as far as I can tell, built some systems so far, been running a few months no issues at all. Also they are very high quality, and even moreso when using the DSP card. The best thing actually with Geo Vision, over all other DVR cards, is all the large assortment of DVR hardware accessories they have. This has actually what has me using their system right now, plus the high quality. Video Insight has a more professional looking GUI, compared to Geo's typical florescent green GUI with blinking eyes Video insight supports some IP camers and servers, where Geo's software is strictly for their cards. I haven't used Video Insight so cannot comment on the features, quality, or stability of that system, though I have heard good things. I have used I-view which was very stable software, less features, but also has a multi site client software, as well as Server and Client Multi View for 32 cameras. Quality is however lower without the DSP card, since it is 640x480 max, unless you buy the DSP combo cards, 16 and 32 channels available. I-view is definately a card in its own league right now, so much so it is not that easy to get a hold of. Support depends on who you buy it from, if you buy Geo vision cards from Ebay, expect next to no support. Alot of companies will only sell you a pre built Geo DVR system, which like any PC DVR, will ensure that the hardware is built properly, and the software is installed and set up correctly. Any PC DVR can be unstable, if windows is not set up properly, and the hardware is incorrect. Either way, you can't go wrong with either of them. Just stay clear of Anykeeper and Kodicom knockoff cards! (if you are interested in Kodicom, contact a legit source, such as Say Security for one example) Oh yeah, there are also Geo knock offs out there, stay far far away from them also, you will have the same problems as the other knockoffs, software wont work half the time, no support, and low quality video. Rory
  22. This really goes out to the Kodicom and Anykeeper Ebay buyers. The majority of posts regarding these cards so far have either started off as a member looking for support or software for the cards, or it ended up with someone else providing assistance on how to crack them. The facts so far is Kodicom does not sell cards, unless you are a major rep or builder of DVR systems. So this tells us if you bought a Kodicom card from Ebay, you can be certain it is a pirated card. And if you are an end User, it is also more than 99.99% likely a clone also. As for anykeeper, it is more difficult to determine as they DO sell cards. Basically we do not want this forum to grow into a Warez for DVR cards. The other thing is that most of the time, you are going to have problems with the software included with those Pirated cards, such as corrupted Zip files, or incorrect software versions. Problems like support from the suppliers of these fake cards, which make people come looking here for help, is also an issue. If you bought a pirate card at a low price, please DO NOT COME HERE looking for support. Members here will be more than glad to help you with legit cards, cameras, Ip systems, and the like, but when it comes to something that can actually be taking business away from the members here who run legit businesses, and undermining the legitimacy of this forum as a great source for CCTV information, it is not right. In all fairness if it is not the real thing, no one should be on here looking for help. It would be like going on a Microsoft Windows Forum and asking how to crack the Vista Activation, or asking Nortons why the activation crack for Norton Security isn’t working. Any posts or threads which include information on Pirated Cards, Where to find software for them, how to disassemble or decompile them, will be removed. We want to keep this forum legit. Thanks for your understanding. Rory

.THE BEST ROUTER FOR A DVR.

ive always used Linksys, well because they are the easiest thing to get our hands on down here, other than netgear or dlink, but i prefer Linksys over those. Otherwise the offices and stores normally have their own network setup already with a router.
