Need help on choosing cameras for Cocktail Lounge
rory replied to Jasper's topic in Security Cameras
It would like to think so, Tropical Storm Rita killed the one I had here, this one lasted 5 years! he he .. dead as a door nail now. If you just want some BW High Res Domes check out the WizKid WZ30 for a fixed lens, and the W46 for a Varifocal Auto Iris lens. White cosmetic housings, and vandal resistant with 5 year warranty. They come in Surface Mount, Flush Mount, or a Pendant wall Mount. WizKid's Day Nights dont have IR Cut Filters though so dont use them for that. http://www.wizkidoptotech.com/products/index.cfm?img=2 http://www.wizkidoptotech.com/products/index.cfm?img=12 Extreme has even better units but much more $$ http://www.extremecctv.com/products/index.cfm For Day Night, would be either the Sanyo http://www.sanyo.com/industrial/security/cameras/special/index.cfm?productID=766 Panasonic (with Wide Dynamic) Panasonic Day Night Dome Extreme EX46MX (link is EX40MNX and MX - MX is Day Night, MNX has IR also) http://www.extremecctv.com/products/index.cfm?img=67 EX46MX - they dont have this listed on the site but I have the brochure. http://www.extremecctv.com/products/index.cfm?img=20 Other decent Day Night Domes with auto/mech IR Cut Filters are Nuvico and Hunt. If I missed anyone out please excuse me Rory -

those, the client got a good deal on 3 of them while in the US on a shipping trip, smallest one, middle one, then one with alot of IR and a 16mm fixed lens, we hooked them up, ended up throwing them in the garbage they looked so bad, and yah know me, Id rather see a BW image or nothing at all, than to see distored color imaging at my appartment -
Yah need the EX14MNX

I thought they were pretty good bullets, definately have the day/night specs, then again we dont get any "cold" winters down here, more likely they will die from the heat and sun

Depends on the lighting, if it is always going to be very low lighting, then a day night camera will stay in BW mode anyway, so would be a waste of money, if it gets lighting or day time brings in alot of light and you need to cover that also, then a day night. I just installed the Sanyo Day Night dome in the club down here, he has added much more lighting since originally. I have 1 more to install inside now where it is typically less lighting or Neon lighting, so Ill post some shots after that. That will be this week, he wants to meet tomorrow to take care of it. I used BW bullets originally for that job, the CVC-325WPSW and it worked (and a couple GE Exview cameras outside), 4-5 years actually and still working, though to do it again Id use vandal domes. A crook ripped down some of the outdoor bullets just a month ago, if they were domes he wouldnt have been able to. It shorted out all the power supply and hence all the cameras connected lost power! But they were okay after a reset. Course he was caught on camera right in front of a few of them at close range, so they know who he is. Rory -

Actually i should have reworded that, I meant the Extreme CX cameras dont have any info on their wide dynamic performance, but they say they have it. Just wondering how they match up to the Pano WD cameras .? Thanks Rory
-
How do the CX compare to the Panasonic Wide Dynamic cameras, like for a front entrance? They claim it has wide dynamic range, but cant seem to get any more info from them on that part. Have you tested any of the CX models in an application like that yet? Thanks Rory

Yeah I heard it through the grape vine they didnt say who did it though ...

What happens when you have 6 lanes and alot of traffic? That 1 PTZ cant cover every lane. Then you have some guy jump out with an uzi and shoot the gas attendant, while the car he is in, is in line behind the car which that PTZ captures, they reverse out and are never caught on camera. Gas Stations make enough money to pay for the right product, if they are going to be cheap, then they deserve to loose money, or go into another business Economical would be to put up a few cheap OEM bullet cameras on each lane but Best would be to use a proper camera one time .. a PTZ camera is useless without at least one fixed camera on the same view. I have 2 friends with gas Stations, and although drive offs are a big issue, actual stealing (shoplifting) is a bigger problem here. Knivings, Shootings, and kidnappings, are also big here, right at the gas station, more important than drive offs. Though at both gas stations, I know 1 PTZ cant do the job for drive offs, we have at least 1 normal camera per dual lane, and it works, though a Wide Dynamic would be alot better.

Ive tested their Network software is all, its good. Cant speak for the units themselves, except they arent cheap. Did they offer you a good price or something? Where are you located? Country wise? Rory

The High Def looks really interesting, tell us more please

send me the IP so i can connect and ill crack it for you as a last resort. Rory

Unless you have somewhere to use it, id sell it off .. could be useful though in an IR app .. you're right those lenses arent cheap ..

Once they have lighting, check out the Panasonic Day Night wide Dynamic Camera, with a 5-50mm Lens. They have this in 1/3" or 1/2". Also Extreme CCTV has similar box cameras for the same cost approx in the box style. http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?displayTab=O&storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&itemId=88337&catGroupId=14458&modelNo=WV-CP484&surfModel=WV-CP484 http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?displayTab=O&storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&itemId=68240&catGroupId=14458&modelNo=WV-CL924A&surfModel=WV-CL924A http://www.extremecctv.com/products/index.cfm?img=108

Please post some snap shots PS. I know who really makes it .. -
No default admin password works? Is it that you dont remember what the Supervisor login is on the network? Because that is seperate from the Menu Programming Password.

Thats an interesting one

Yep she works now. Thanks. UPDATE: Okay guys, I have a Louroe V-A mic hooked up to the mic input on the PC, and it streams the audio like im sitting there, very crisp and clean, I have to say the best streaming audio Ive heard yet (besides Skype of course ) Remote Software is good too, multi view, and is very clear. Local software is good also, for SEARCH it has a type of disk map, multi view playback, zoom in and out, full screen, though I didnt notice any features like smart search such as with Iview, nor thunbnail search as with Geo. Only drawback for myself I can see, is it doesnt appear to be Multi Site Multi View Software, it does do multi Site, though It seems it will do a max of 16 camera multi views. Still havent had a chance to play with the Multi site yet. Also couldnt get the DDNS working though it has a tick box for that. I also couldnt use my DynDns,org address for it, only works with the router, even after port forwarding. Im sure it will work, but the user manual doesnt mention it. The user manual could really use some more work. But over all it is decent software, with US Tech Support. The hardware seems to be solid also. Rory

I dont know what it is, no name brand, could be a sony, but could be OEM. Was it only for inside the home, not outside? There are alot of choices out there, no one camera can do everything .. unfortunately
-
yep, oem, this is the actual camera .. dont know off hand who makes it .. http://www.elanhomesystems.com/product/video_comm/v_c/cam5000.asp

You can reset to factory defaults in the menu programming, but you would have to do direct, not connected to the network software, and provided you remember the main password.
