    Object Tracking using Geovision

its sais specifically in the geo software there are only 2 types of domes that work I think.
  2. oh yeah links. No shop links but im sure you can find them http://www.eclipsecctv.com/ http://www.specotech.com/cart/products/?action=viewcat&catid=137 http://www.wizkidoptotech.com/ http://www.extremecctv.com Also browse through the Security Camera and System Design forum for more ideas on cameras.
  3. I dont know if the cheaper cameras will hold up in that mountain weather Wizkid will, but they arent that cheap, more like mid range, over your listed budget though. Basically for that price you listed, at retail cost it will be the cheapest cameras on the planet, and with cameras, you get what you pay for. More than likely in that price range it will be a CMOS Chip, instead of a CCD Chip, which are not very good quality at all. Plus you have to pay more for a decent housing. Otherwise check out the Eclipse CCTV products for budget cameras, Provideo for mid range and a huge bullet camera selection, WizKid for mid-higher end with domes and IR etc., Extreme CCTV for higher end and much more $$ but made to withstand the most extreme conditions with 5 year warranties on most of their products (same company as WizKid but a different dept, wizKid are cheaper lenses and chips, and housing material but still decent and vandal resistant and weatherproof on most).
  4. You could get a VGA-RCA/BNC Convertor but the decent ones arent that cheap. If you cant afford a CCTV Monitor, then best would be to just get a 13" or 19" Color TV and it will be better quality than converting it to VGA anyway. You would then just need a RCA cable, and an RCA-BNC convertor (RCA Female to BNC Male)
  5. Just FYI a CCTV (CRT) monitor will be the best quality, then a TV. The LCDs will be not very good quality, but are nice for space saving, or large screens. If you need to view it on a bunch of TVs you could also get a RF Modulator and tie that into where the cable comes into your house and then set it to a channel.
  6. Its a stand alone embedded DVR, requires a CCTV Monitor or a TV or any Monitor with AV input. Rory

YEah thing is they are in the same building as their ISP, from what I remember, so that means power must be out and no generator ..ofcourse could just be no generator for thier office and they could be hosting the site themselves. I guess Thomas got out of dodge good luck cause tonghts the night. .

    Avtech 780W DVR problem

When you say picture, the whole thing, or just the video? I mean do you get any Text from the DVR on it, or theres totally no video? If all video, then could be a loose BNC connection to the board inside, and you should send it back, they can get damaged in shipping, normally from improper shipping or handling.

    Avtech 780W DVR problem

Also try it with no hard drive, like how I have mine, as it should also work without a HDD installed, though you will still need to test it with a HDD installed in case there is some issue with the connector inside.

    Avtech 780W DVR problem

You can also try it with another hard drive, just make sure its a raw drive, not partitioned or formatted.

    Avtech 780W DVR problem

Sounds like a faulty unit. I have that same DVR and havent had any issues, I run it without a hard drive and works fine I put a hard drive in but forgot it had already been partitioned and ofcourse it wont work then cause it needs a Raw HDD, though the DVR took a few minutes to start up, it did come up and worked fine, just saw 0.0GB for the HDD. Been like that sitting half off the edge of another PC, im sure its been knocked around alot, and Ive moved it several times while it is on. For the price, its one of the few you will find that doesnt crash, and has a browser based network server. There are a couple others out that dont have browser based, at the same cost, or a little more expensive, which have a better network client software, as far as multi view software goes. Basically its a good unit for the price. Rory

    Wirelezz

Yes please post some names, as i investigated hundreds of solutions and there was no Hybrid system that could achieve what I needed. Basically it was one way or the other. My requirements were /are Full D1 on every channel, 30fps on every channel, 32 channels, and 1 monitor with a 32/36 camera multi view on the server, not an extra client. In fact, milestone was the only software i found that could do 32 cameras in one multi screen, for IP based, 16/25 was the average limit, even though they all mostly claim they can do 240+ Ip cameras. I know of a few DVRs that do the 32 way multi view, but none of them also do IP cameras, just all analogue. I could tell you what I ended up quoting, and the products i looked at, but Id like to see what you come back with, in case i missed something, and ofcourse it needs to be supported in the US Thanks Rory

    Video Insight is in Houston.
  16. Yep, plus with the DVMRe you get to access the full admin menu programming of the DVMRe to change camera titles, motion settings, and more.
  17. once they are not trying to use the browser to connect to the DSR, then if port forwarding is enabled for the DSR's internal IP it should work with wavereader. Also, can they connect local, with the internal IP, and also have them try the static IP.
  18. What are they tryng to connect to, ports set up right, etc? Rory

ARE THESE CAMERAS AND DVR ANY GOOD?

Dude same here, but like you said alot of people cant afford it. I too refuse to use a day night camera that doesnt have a IR cut filter, it pains me actually, so much Id rather just use a cheap BW camera first, and add IR later. Ive been fortunate to install at least 2 locations that used a bunch of EX82's and one of them used 2 UF500s with a Sanyo Day Night Camera in the EX29 housing.

ARE THESE CAMERAS AND DVR ANY GOOD?

Yeah I got 2 UF500s at a driveway here, nice and also easy to change the bulb when it does go. have you tried the UF600's yet? I havent yet but supposed to be even more flood. Also they have the 3000km now, pricey but would be nice to have somewhere to test them out. Cant think of anywhere here I could even test those out, yet, except for the beach and ocean here, but then Id actually have to buy it first And you are right on with the too much light, those suckers can burn your skin, and eyes, if you are too close .. thats what my oaks are for looks like we are in the same game

ARE THESE CAMERAS AND DVR ANY GOOD?

Yeah I forgot to mention all Infrared LEDs and Bulbs have a life cycle, in other words eventually the IR LEDs or Bulbs burn out. LEDs last longer but bulbs give you the greatest distance. I change the bulbs every 2 years approx on the UF500 from Extreme CCTV, but heck does that baby flood the area ))

    eclipse dvr

Not that version, Ive used the version before this, but they tell me the network software is the same. I dont think Eclipse would be able to change that, besides putting their name on it. For multi view network software it is no good, but for single camera it is fine. Once again, cant speak exactly for the Eclipse model. Also PM me to download the client software: PM me for details on using the client software, and how to use the admin side of it. Note. This is not the browser software, this requires an installation. ARE THESE CAMERAS AND DVR ANY GOOD?

They are OEM, pretty much the same products. KT&C will be better though as they choose some better manufacturers, but also cost more. KT&C is more like the range of Provideo. None of them make their cameras though, they just rebadge them. But in the land of Bullet cameras, most of them are sold by brands like these. Best thing to do is, choose a camera for the location, if it is low light at night, use a BW camera, if it is enough light, use a color camera, if it gets near pitch dark, then use a BW with IR, if it is an indoor room not too large, and gets dark, then you could look at a Color with IR. Provideo has a couple IR Bullets that can do around 30', watch out though most with 6-10LEDs cant see beyond 10 feet, and do basically nothing outdoors in wide areas. True Day Night cameras with/without IR will cost alot more, Provideo AND KT&C both have a version of these, as well as many other manufacturers, ExtremeCCTV is one of the leaders in this area. Other high end cameras like this but no IR, though have IR response, are Sanyo, Panasonic, GE, etc. and for an IP camera you can look at the Acti gear. A True Day Night camera is a color that switches to a lower lux BW version for extra sensitivity in low light, and also has an auto (also known as a mechanical) IR Cut Filter which turns on in the day to cut out the IR from the sun, etc, and cuts off at night for IR response. Without an IR Cut Filter, colors will look messed up to put it simply - especially green. Color cameras that are just color cameras all have fixed IR Cut Filters as they dont need any IR Response. This is why you will find al cheap Color IR cameras have no IR Cut Filter to keep the cost down. Last note on cheaper OEM type cameras, you will normally find they cannot handle lighting issues very well, be it bright light or abrupt changes in light levels. Rory

    eclipse dvr

The nubix is a 4 channel, The 16 channel MPEG4 one should work, great local video. No real powerful netwoirk features, but it works. Have you checked out the remote software yet, or are you primarily concered with local video. Also, motion detection exists but it is limited. Lets put it this way, AvTech make the best budget 16 channel DVRs I have tested, and at a lower cost.
