(after the DVR and the cameras) tips for an aspiring DIYer
rory replied to za's topic in General Digital Discussion
There is a new version out, check my post over here: http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2866 Its worth the upgrade just for the smart search. Doesnt effect any other settings. I think Iview is still a solid product, just having 1 distributor (ameba) for the US isnt a good thing. Rory -
Metal connector for flexible conduit
rory replied to cctvfan's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Its why i like vandal domes so much, you can mount them anywhere, wall mount especially, and peeps just cant move the housing that easy, plus no wire issues. Generally have to deal with less of a picture quality compared to a box camera, but then what use is a box camera if someone can just knock it with their pinky .. I got a Sanyo Dome to do tomorrow, but the easiest dome ive installed so far has been the WizKid's WZ46. If you're on a budget though, the cheap domes arent that great, gotta spend alot of cash to get a decent one. And why i like the Extreme cameras so much, no need to worry about housings at all. 4 years on the beach side the EX82's still going strong -
sooo close http://www.pinetron.com/php/english/product/m5000.htm That 240fps is in low res, so in High Res would probably be more like 60fps on an 8 channel. Its probably chinese ... anyway here are some others with H2 tech.. http://www.mirak.com.cn/Digital_Stand-Alone_01.htm http://astel.en.ec21.com/GC00969342/CA00969345/SeCube_Plus_Pentaplex_Standalone_DVR.html http://www.idis.co.kr/eng/support/tech.php http://www.hikvision.com/en/Exhibit2/exhview.asp?pid=30 darn they all look the same from the back .. Im too tired to go searching tonight, but maybe someone else will know .. cant remember all the other manu names right at this moment .. brain drain ...

Yep, either Nitek or NVT, or any 4 channel would normally work since cat5 is 4 pairs which will cover 4 cameras video. Here's the NVT gear: http://www.nvt.com/products/NV_208AM.html http://www.nvt.com/products/NV_214AM.html http://www.nvt.com/products/NV_653T.html http://www.nvt.com/products/NV_413A.html http://www.nvt.com/products/NV_452R.html And Nitek: http://www.nitek.net/single_channel/index.htm http://www.nitek.net/multi_channel/VH439.htm http://www.nitek.net/multi_channel/VH451.htm http://www.nitek.net/multi_channel/VH456.htm Personally I only use Active Receivers, and Passive/Active Transmitters, and right now im a NVT fan . But its up to you, both are high grade. If you need audio they both have other products listed for that option as well. Scott can get you good pricing and is a reliable source. You just tie in a cat5 cable and use 1 pair for each camera, total of 4 pairs for cat5. Gives you real time video. Alternatively you could multiplex and demux it, using Coax, UTP, or other, but not real time at that point. Rory

Ahh, okay, they are simply camera modules for PTZs as far as I can tell. EG. for OEMs. Only block camera you'll probably find is from Sony as thats just a name they called theirs. ------------------------------- http://www.photonics.com/spectra/features/XQ/ASP/artabid.341/QX/read.htm Small Block Cameras Tackle Tough Tasks by Jo Ann Vozeh They go where humans can't. Sometimes they go where no camera has gone before. Often they go where they can't be seen. And what they see (and enable us to see) is revolutionizing the use of video cameras in the industrial, law enforcement, scientific, recreational and related environments. They are block video cameras -- so named because, in essence, they're the blocklike guts of a camcorder, minus VCR, viewfinder, housing and battery. Block video cameras include a built-in lens with autofocus, zoom and auto-iris features. They evolved from camcorder technology as a way to give maximum flexibility to manufacturers who were integrating video cameras into different applications and solutions. Today they're used in surveillance, inspection, law enforcement, robotics, dome security -- even photo sticker machines in retail stores. . . . Article End -----------------------------------------

Ive used the Kalatel (GE) housings for a few years, never got any dust in them, very dusty environment, and on the beach, same location had a $20 housing from the previous job, is full of dust. .

Metal connector for flexible conduit
rory replied to cctvfan's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Im not saying dont make it neat, but no point in having the pretiest housing in the neighborhood if the camera isnt set up properly .. Remember the criminals can always just use a paint gun to disable the camera ... so basically stick to the fastest way to install the housing, and spend more time on the camera adjustments, and DVR set up .. -
Metal connector for flexible conduit
rory replied to cctvfan's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Actually, a professional job would use Cable Management Housing ... Anyway, it is more important for a CCTV professional to set up the camera properly, than worry about what conduit is used .. -
I need it like its plugged directly into the DVR, id be recording in high res. I need to deal with someone experienced in large wireless installs, both IP and Non IP Wireless, to get the best product for the project. Thanks Rory

But wont matter since you are using Black and White ..
-
LXR no IR cut filter, MX has the IR Cut Filter. LXR is their original day night technology, MX is new.
-
What are you using it for? Do you need to see an object 3000' away? I take it you will be using a Zoom lens and a PT motor, which type ..? I havent used the ZX700 yet, just the UF500s, dual with the same housing used in this kit, Impressive. Which camera are you ordering along with it ..? If possible get the MX not the LXR.

newbie question!!! just bought a dvr, what next?
rory replied to duntovlives's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi and Welcome It looks like the AvTech 9 channel Color DVR. http://www.avtech.com.tw/english/product_13_776.htm There are 2 models, one with LAN one without, doesnt say it has it on that link, but you would know by looking at the back of it, if it has a ethernet socket. Its what we call a budget DVR, I have the 4 channel here. It works great and doesnt crash, great local quality on the monitor, and better if you have the one with LAN so you can remotely view it. So it is color and works with up to 9 cameras, once they are normal CCTV cameras with BNC, or RCA using a BNC-RCA adaptor. Whats your budget ... whats the lighting like outside .. ? Rory -
Need screenshot of desktop ftp'd every minute - doable?
rory replied to WildCard's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Sounds like you want software ... but if you can use a camera, a Zoom camera will work, we use it in the Alarm Central Station .. If you are okay with Visual Basic code there are some examples of doing screen shots over at www.vbcode.com , then you can make your own customized proggy. Now you could use CamStudio, which is now named Captivate (formerly was Robodemo, and before that CamStudio), just set up a region and using task scheduler have it auto run .. i still use Cam Studio dont know what the newer ones are like, this does it for me, though I hardly use it anyway, and just recently found out I could write my own .. so .. (thanks jeff) -
Systems with sophisticated motion detection
rory replied to loop's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Yep no Motion detection is great, but the best ive seen so far is on the kalatel units .. Hu umm , GE now .. Im sure some others I havent tried are probably as good though or better .. It beats all the PC DVR motion detection ive used, but doesnt have the search features some of these PC dvrs are coming out with now .. which are really amazing stuff. . What they need is more intelligent image handling and then they can deal with the motion ... there are alot of things they could be doing with the video to make it better ... once that is covered then they could work on better motion detection, as then it would be better anyway and there wouldnt be much to do. -
Virtual Desktop or something
rory replied to Ghazi's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
by the way if you PM me your IP or local IP I can embed it into my first generation liveVue software I wrote for the Iview ...and you can have something else besides FreeView. Its only a live Viewer, but a desktop GUI with more form options ... id like to get the newer generation one I wrote for the Geo into the Iview at some point also ..anyway let me know .. -
Whats your budget? Also, what kind of features do you have in mind, if any.. .. The Provideo DVRs arent that great, their bullet cameras are generally decent though .. Come back with a budget, then we can see what we can do. Rory

What is the Capture card, and what is the Router Model? Is the Router a Modem also like Thomas said? Basically yes, you will need to port forward to the DVR, forwarding to the local IP assigned to the DVR, and the ports the DVRs Client Software uses. This is called Applications and Gaming or Servers .. depending on the router brand ..no experience myself with this Router but if you post the model one of us can help you out. Rory

no they were on a UPS .. needs a voltage regulator (and a generator).

Need inexpensive Day/night home surveillance camera/setup
rory replied to troycctv's topic in Security Cameras
gotcha now, horrible software .. Kworld, never heard of it, I think its some cheap retail thing found in Sams Club, Kmart etc..? Ganz decent cameras. That Yh30 isnt a low light camera though, with the 32X on it will be too bright in the day time .. The GEKTC840CE is a low light EXview color camera though, does the job. But if you have decent lighting the Yh30 will work. its a wide dyna mic camera so its really for another type of application. But those cameras require a housing and lens, so the price goes up, dont go cheap on the DVR also, especially if you are using expensive cameras. . otherwise just get some cheap color bullet cameras for now .. then as you see what lighting you have or what you want to do, get more of an idea, then change out the cameras for better ones..
