Thomas you're too much man ....

Just a FYI on some simple adjustments you can make with your cheap color cameras for night time apps. This is just a basic OEM color Bullet camera ... Image 1 is the default image settings, Image 2 is with the Hue and Sat turned right down, and the Brightness turned up, as well as Contrast turned up just a little. Judge for yourself which looks better at night ... (now my monitor may be a little dark as its an old POS, so excuse me if image 2 is too bright .. but i think you may get the point, and what you see will depend on your monitor's brightness settings, mine's not turned right up) Ofcourse Day time will be too bright for sure, but if your DVR can allow seperate settings for day and night, then wouldnt life be sweet

thomas, no but it could let you adjust to do so, set times for switchover, or even implement it automatically when the image picks up low lighting, or even use the input from a photo cell. There are many ways to do it ... dont think anyone just ever thought about it. Basically its the same way digital day night cameras work, but this way it would be in the actual software and you save a couple hundred $$ a camera. Now that my electric is back on (went off again for 3 hours just now - last night was off all night - electrical company union strikes), ill play some more with that imaging code.

Virtual Desktop or something

have you clicked on multi view? First you have to make sure you select all cameras. Then click on say quad view, then click play, you can adjust the speed using the icons of the multiple little "running men" -
if this is so, they are the most desperate manufacturer ive ever seen.

FM systems has some "Ummm", can I say dedicated sales staff ... cant say more than that, but lets put it this way, they don't seem to be the manufacturers, cause their sales person was more desperate than me, scarey enough to scare me off. I probably shouldn't mention their advertising CD is just a copy of their web site ... but they seem to have some decent products.

--sorry electric going off too much, leaving the DVR off now indefinately--

Cool ... ill check them out. As for the digital cable box, is this different from the regular cable box? We just supposedly got digital cable in this country, so just checking .. With current clients with the original cable boxes just got the cable before it came in the house. thanks Rory

Nope, none that I know of, yet, unless someone else knows? Just it would be a nice feature right Though I was playing with some code tonight, that lets you adjust the video like this, problem is im not writing code for the actual DVR cards yet (the server) .. just the remote video side, but ill try to implement it at least into the remote video software .. somehow. I believe there is a DVR that has something called Xray vision, a cheap DVR also, cant remember off hand what it is though.

Yes IDE, number of HDDs depends on the version of the DVMRe. Let me know what version it is and ill check for you. And yes, HDD must be unpartitioned and unformated. The OS is non PC so it handles it different, it's RTOS Embedded Nucleus. There is also some extra software for the DVMRe's for upgrading them, but that also depends on the version.

Hi, If you havent already, download the latest version from their web site, its 2.8f now (says 2.8e but its actually f). With this you can fast forward all of them or at least they will move as they have recorded motion etc. Click on tools and click run window minimized on start program, that will run it in the system tray .. dont know if thats what you meant? Rory -
Ill do some research, have always just used seperate units until now, as its all I can get down here, shipping those units from the US ends up getting costly due to weight, but I may start doing it anyway with every system and ship an alternative route .. will let yah know. Rory

Systems with sophisticated motion detection
rory replied to loop's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
One thing i would like to see is where the motion detection doesnt pick up when the sun comes in and out, like it does here most of the year round, sets off the video motion detection on every video system ive used. Yeah i know what you mean, but only the big companies will be able to implement that, like you mentioned, Bosch for example. They do have it where you can search within recordded video clips to see if there was motion in that area .. or record only a section of an area ... not all have that yet though .. dont think that really qualifies like what you are talking about though. -
Need inexpensive Day/night home surveillance camera/setup
rory replied to troycctv's topic in Security Cameras
Avtech 4-ch DVR and any color or BW bullet camera for a stand alone solution. Check out the Iview 4 channel DVR card, or the GEO 2 channel/4 channel cards, for PC based. I cant personally recommend the Day Night (and definately not any Color IR cameras cause thats just a myth) cameras that dont have a switching IR Cut Filter as the image is so bad, but thats up to you. The ones that do have it cost alot more than your budget seems to allow. -
Doubled up for sure, this is for 24VAC only and not exact. Cat2 or better. 100ma Voltage Draw (BW): DUAL 22AWG - 1500' DUAL 24AWG - 1000' 300ma Voltage Draw (Color): DUAL 22AWG - 600' DUAL 24AWG - 350' You shouldnt run 24VAC with data cable though. Power it locally if you must use the same LAN cable for video.

just noticed version 2.8D now has a smart search .. for the iview users who may not have noticed it .. download from www.i-viewusa.com Rory
-
btw, check it out, browser or Freeviewt: (only 2 cameras right now but anywayz) xtreme1.gotdns.com
-
Ok there IS a version 2.9 ... Here is the new item in 2.9 .. MPEG4(HQ) Compression method ... Will leave it on and see how it is. other than that cant see any other differences. One thing I did notice even with 2.8f, probably was on older versions, can copy confifuration for cameras from other cameras, such as for recording setup etc. Rory

jokin or ...? you know their ftp is soo slow dont want to waste any more time than is neccassary ;-0
-
probably!! I never noticed the smart search before and I didnt check the version I installed ... e, f ... mussee same thing in taiwan Its a neat feature, even after having used Geo ..

I wrote a script for one of my previous sites (a fully dynamic ASP site) and it created static pages for it, well actually it was dynamic pages that loads it like a static page, faking the search engines basically. Once released in just a few days the site was all over google like a worm. It previously was on the 1st page to start with anyway, but nothing like that, and this is a site that has been on the 1st page of search engines from 1996. Other pages are ofcourse indexed, but im not going to get into any lengthly details on this as it doesnt really interest me anymore, but static pages or dynamics mimicking static pages are definately indexed by far more than a pure dynamic page with a querystring in it, regardless of what meta tags or content you are grabbing from the db. Okay ill tell yah how ... example of a real estate site.. Typical Dynamic Page: listing.asp?ID=1 Dynamic or Static Page: land_for_sale/orange_home_on_beach.htm The latter will get you a far better result on google just because of the name of the link itself .. if you check some of the other PhP forums you will see they have static pages with all the database info as well, and those forums results are like a virus on google ... Trust me, I physically did it, and it makes a huge difference ..i was using strictly dynamic names for years ... and still do .. but the static names are a huge difference .. and if it is a pure static site, or with just static info and using static page names (as above), same thing. Do a search for "CCTV Bahamas" on google and from the 2nd and 3rd results you will see what I mean ..
