can I get a list of DVRs with live remote view
rory replied to bigD's topic in Digital Video Recorders
most use ActiveX, at least for full motion video, other wise you are stuck with java, and scripts, that pull the images down. I think java acts the same, just doesnt have to refresh the page. Here is a link to a java one. http://www.demovi.com/ DVR is www.video-insight.com -
GE has some motion detector cameras, which are real sentrol electronics, you can use them as an alarm motion detector, plus tie the video into the DVR ... Ive put these up in a house down here, plus we added some Louroe ceiling mount mics that look like heat detectors. ... they catch everything If you need product numbers send me a PM .. Rory

-
sorry my inet was down all night, are you changing the port in the DVR software also ..? also put your ISP DNS Server info in that PCs 2 DNS Server boxes, at least we have to do that down here.

Kalatel, now its GE.

What Router is it? You tried all those ports? Also, does the MultiCam thing work, not the browser, the regular software ..

Id like to visit that showroom when i eventually come up, you said it was in Merrick right? I use to ride my bike through merrick all the time, i lived in NY for 3 years, Freeport, Baldwin, then Wantaugh ...went to Nassau Community College, for a short period.
-
PM me the IP and ill telnet it for you .. also, locally you can enter the ISP IP address, and do it that way, to see if it works.
-
they do have that neat LCD which is cool .. if they could get the rest downpacked now ..
-
Well the dongle is hardware copyright protection, and they are software developers, as for 7.0 and no dongles, Scott how they doing it, they must be flashing the actual serial numbers to the eprom on the card?

internet is crawling tonight, guess from the rain and the hurricane ..anyway, only thing that is needed, is set TCP server to port 81, and Port Forward the router to 81. Restart everything and it should work. If it doesnt then they are also blocking port 81 perhaps. Try another port, there are a few. Try www.grc.com and Shields up, do the port test to see what http ports are available. To test it, must be done on the DVR, or a computer on that ISP. https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 First port forward a port, like 81. Then Click on ALL SERVICE PORTS and see if it is open or not. If that port is red, it is not blocked and should work, if it is green then it is blocked. Port forward another HTTP port on the router (no need to do anything to the DVR yet), and try again. Do this until you find an open port. For other HTTP ports to use: https://www.grc.com/port_80.htm

Yes they make them right there in CAN ... it sais Made in Canada on all their cameras. I just took the camera apart that you told me about earlier, and its nothing like the WizKid, doesnt even come close, other than it has an off white base, though WizKid is true white, totally different material, solid. That one is made in Taiwan, has the asian type alan key (hexagon), and the guts are identical to the Ameba Domes I tested previously, but the housing is much cheaper and lighter. Also that company you told me about earlier, is like Provideo, they purchase OEM gear from Asia and rebadge it, for example, they use WebGate Inc for their DVRs.

noone oems for Extreme, they are the manufacturer ..

DSR-2000's, 3 of them going over 4 years now ..a couple storesafes doing over 2 years .. no failures on any yet actually. I put them all on Voltage Regulators though, just the regular APC 600 watt type. Ive had my Triplite 500watt from 1996 and never lost a hard drive that was on it from day 1. Rory

Do you need Plenum? Normally non plenum is around $200-250 for 1000'.

How about this instead of using a Power Supply
rory replied to calvis's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
There was a discussion before about this type of power supply, and if I remember correctly the consensus was against using it. Just like how a $30 camera will show you an image, it will be no where near as good as a $100 camera. Basically will the PC give you the correct amps to push the cameras? Ofcourse depends on what cameras you use. Also, it has no protection at all, no fuses, nothing. With all the issues that can happen with incorrect power connections/supplies, it is best to keep it seperate and use the real thing. PC Power supplies are built for PCs, CCTV power Supplies are built for CCTV cameras. -
It depends on the house. WizKid domes look neat though, and are white to blend in cosmetically with most homes. But yes, and also depends on what the client wants to see on his wall.
