  1. Only thing the DSP will give you if you need it, is real time fixed multi view RCA output which is high quality. If not using that then yep you dont need it, or can add it at any time. For a power supply make sure you get an Altronix or a Pthree, higher grade products, not much more than the OEMs but alot better. What brand cameras were you looking at? The Power Supply will depend on what cameras you use and what current they draw, the power supplies (at least the good ones) give you a choice of Amp sizes. The Power supply goes near the DVR, wall mounted, run all the cables from the cameras back to the DVR (or vice versa), with Siamese Cable, split off the power wires for each and those go into the DVR box, best to label them for troubleshooting also. Get the Siamese that has dual jackets, one for the power and 1 for the video, but joined together. This is better than just the all in one jacket cable, as at the DVR end it is safer when splitting the Power Cables off from the video cable, as then each power cable has its own jacket. Rory

  3. right here ... http://www.extremecctv.com/products/index.cfm?img=10 Also this for a varifocal version, though the one above is proven: http://www.extremecctv.com/products/index.cfm?img=96 and if you need a dome, you could ask them about this also, it should hold up but they may have another suggestion: http://www.extremecctv.com/products/index.cfm?img=20

    Bosch LTC 1462/21

They all come in similar options, the EX45 is a mini dome with fixed lens in case you need small, the 44 is a dual fixed lens, the rest are full sized with choice of VF lens. I generally list the EX45, 46, and 47. The main things are the part numbers at the end. SX = Mono w/ Enhanced Infrared Response CX = Wide Dynamic Low Light Color MX = Day Night w/ Mech Filter (w/ Enhanced Infrared Response*) *depends on the camera lens/model

    Bosch FlexidomeXT

YEah, well people know what Sony and Panasonic is, but Bosch and GE, most only know the GE name from light bulbs.. and never heard of bosch. Everyone knows what Daewoo is too
  18. Short for "original equipment manufacturer". OEMs buy products in bulk and customize them for a particular application. They then sell the customized products under their own name. The term is really incorrect because OEMs are not the original manufacturers - they are the customizers.

    talk about bad training

thats about how it works down here ... unfortunately low wages and the fact that "anyone" can become a cop here, results in alot of problems like this ..

    talk about bad training

they simply "shot" the dog! http://jonesbahamas.com/?c=45&a=4685 oh yeah and the incident with Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), happens every week from one store to the next, they hide in the ceiling the night before or come in the roof during the night. The cops come but dont go inside. So in the AM when the managers come in they get robbed. Thing is, they are soo cheap they installed their own cameras, i mean they had their own cooks and tingems install them ( ) but last i heard were still using VCRs. We quoted them a million times but they just went and bought their own GE cameras! I use to service and install the alarms for KFC for a local alarm company, for about 5 years.
  21. I doubt that, as our fellow members in the UK use alot of GeoVisions which can be Mpeg4, Wavelet or MJpeg, not to mention the thousands of low quality VCRs still being used and utilized all over the UK. Now the UK guys can jump in, but I think the Law there states they cant use any motion recorded video as evidence in court ... (?) Hence it has to be on timelapse / continuous record.

    GEovision PC Reboot

could be a video card issue also. If the Mobo has video on board, take out the video card and just try running windows with the default video .. Now if the CPU fan runs then dies, can be the mobo or the powersupply ... rebooting normally is the powersupply though ..

    GEovision PC Reboot

Power supply, if you have an extra PC yuck the power supply out of that and put it in and test with that ... problem with PC troubleshooting is you really need extra parts to test it with, otherwise thats when you become friends with the local computer store guys
