-
man i tried to learn nucleus but it was just taking too long .. nah i have them all on Voltage Regulators, bout the only electroinics in the clients places that have survived this long
-
The GE Interlogix Units said Kalatel on them, but I think they took that off since they started renaming them with GE Security.

sounds alot like power supply or mobo ... is it all new hardware?
-
Ohhh oh, here we go again
-
anything that can hold a bin can be flashed ... ahhh, member the days of flashing cards ...
-
not the DVR you just bought??
-
just interupt the flash if you flash it with the wrong bin file also she dead, temporary at least .. The GE DVRs have a web page for accessing the flash page, to upload new bin file, also only requires a simple password, so yeah, it can be unsafe if you leave the http port forwarded/open. As for worms, the system used is Nucleus so I doubt many people know how to write a worm for that. it all depends on the OS when it comes to worms and viruses, but for sure you can just upload some "bad" code to it and wont work great after that PS. the GE web server files are all on the HDD not in Eprom.
-
How fast is the actual upload speed at your DVR location, and download speed at the remote location. If you want PM me the IP info and Ill check it out from here. Rory

XP is still Windows XP, as far as I know it doesnt matter that the OS is embedded, it still has alot of the features that regular XP has minus a couple here and there.

Guys, which hardware is most likely to always have a serial number? I know with HDDs if you have dynamic disks it can show it as 0, and some Mobos dont have serial numbers ... what else is there ... would be guaranteed that all network cards would have a mac address or serial number? What about the Bios Serial number, different from the mobo, or that wouldnt be unique ..? any ideas .. need a unique serial number. tanks Rory
-
Yeah i know nothing is 100%, but for the average joe they wont know how to do that .. anything else you suggest? besides a dongle What about the Bios Serial Number ...?
-
Yeah I found some code that gets the actuall hard drive manufacturer serial number, will check it out ... as normally it is just the OS supplied serial that would change with each format .. A license key may be the alternative, with some basic encryption at least .. didnt think of that one thanks Rory

The best thing would be to report it to the cops and keep the kid away from him until they do an investigation, could be the kids telling the truth, could not ..
