    Need some advice please

Hi Casey First, wiring, how large is the area, longest run, approx? Normally we would just use RG59 Siamese Cable, which is RG59 Coax, with 18AWG Power Cable, in one. For real time, would need PC based, but would have to be a tower, not a laptop. I can recommend GeoVision right now, for high quality local video. Using one of their new Combo cards, available in 8 or 16 channel versions. Sorry, cant run video with high voltage. Maybe see if there are any other conduits going over there already like Cat5/network cable, and utilize that with Twisted Pair Active Hub and a Passive Transmitter. As far as price goes, you are on the right forum, lots of dealers here, also price will depend on how many cameras total you are looking at? Rory
  3. whichever one, its all good once you stay clear of dedicated micros

on a 640GB with continuous record on, all BW cameras high res cameras, 10 cameras total, 5pps, we got approx 6 months. But ofcourse this will very greatly. Best to use the calculator .... if you dont have one let me know, pm me ill email you the GE one.
  5. You could check out www.video-insight.com . Thomas on the forum works there. They are I think Comart Systems Cards (asia) but they customise the software in the US so you have full US Software support. They also do Hyrbid (IP cameras as well as Analogue), and Java based Remote Video, which is Cross OS / Browser. Rory

5 and 10pps setting is not much difference. I dropped down from 10 to 5 on a Kalatel (now GE) DVR and got an extra 14 days., continuous record. DVMRe-CT for sure. Also, get a smaller HDD and you can switch in larger drives yourself. Saves a bunch of dollars. You would keep the original HDD for warranty issues. Rory
  8. Yeah, but thats the card, it still has the Pelco name on it. Levon can verify it exact, im just going by what I heard.
  9. Cant comment on it, but even Honeywell is selling OEM Korean Products now. Pelco makes some good housings though

    Geovision Webcam recent issues

make sure all ports are forwarded, you can leave out audio though if not using that. Also, whats the users upload speed, what type of connection? And is this with MultiView or just the single or double view? Also, download and try this, pm for password for the zip file. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/uploads/LiveVueGeo_1_0_5.zip It will auto scan for cameras initially, if it is too slow a connection it will time out and "cannot connect to server", then you can click on the Options button and set only the cameras you have, like 3, 4, 5, etc .. ..also set the quality level to low and it loads faster if it is a slow connection .. this works with a constent 110 upload DSL speed. .

    GV-DSP problem with tv out

This is in case of a new installation of the DSP card, if drivers are already installed you can skip those parts. Also see the manual in the DSP download which is located from the link posted above. 1 - Verify these 2 things: Make sure you are not using a VIA chipset. Make sure you have a supported video card. 2 - Manually delete GVDSPG1.dll (for 16-port system) or GVDSPG2.dll (for 8-port system) from the GV system folder. 3 - Turn the PC Off. 4 - Install the DSP card. Use the supplied ribbon cable to connect the DSP card to the GV capture card. Use the RCA cable to connect the DSP card output to TV monitor. 5 - Turn on your PC and start Windows. 6 - The Windows Hardware Wizard detects this newly installed card and appears. Ignore the wizard window and keep on the following steps. 7 - Execute DrvInst. exe from the supplied CD-ROM under Driver folder, or click on Install Drivers from the Set Up window. Click Install to install the driver. When the installation is done, the message will appear: Install Successfully. 8 - Copy the DSP 16port or DSP 8port folder from CD-ROM:\GVDSP TV-OUT AP to the hard disk. Make sure to keep the DSP port folder separately from the GV system folder. 9 - Execute GVDSPTV16.exe or GVDSPTV8.exe from the DSP 16port or DSP 8port folder. 10 - Set up the window with the appropriate video format for your location, and also the right cameras. Once you are sure it is correct, and you see video on the TV output, uncheck SHOW APPLICATION. 11 - Set the GVDSPTV16.exe or GVDSPTV8.exe program on Windows Start up. thats it ...

    Multiple Geo Cards

funny enough, the card manufacturer makes 32 channel versions of the hardware. Its the GeoVision software that doesnt "yet" support 32 camera views.
  17. They come with manufacturer software also by the look of it, not sure how it is though.
  18. the cards are good, depends on who writes the software.
  19. Chance i are decent cards, mostly used for DVR Software Developers as they have an SDK program, which is then sold as various other names. The other one, not sure who they are?

Yah need to try the GE ..
  23. Well the best top of the line DVR, and the specs you mentioned, dont all mix together. Best embedded Stand Alone DVRs: GE Security (Kalatel) - best ive ever used, hear good things Sanyo, Bosch Divar - never used these, hear good things Dedicated Micros - well liked, but not by myself. March Networks - hear good things ... ? Panasonic <- ? I havent used it nor dont know anyon that does, but it does look impressive per specs, and a very high price tag Now, if you are talking about recording speed, that is a whole differrent issue. There are a couple out there that are faster, but they are all Asian manufacturered, and none do D1 in real time recording. Ill pull some links.
