  1. leave slack at the camera end, if you ever need to move it, and "some" slack at the DVR end.

New Geovision 7.1 Features and Hardware

G22 you know u already have 8.3 .. and yah lovin it
  3. Okay I got 2x 120GB Hard Drives, I am partitioning the first 10GB for windows, and the rest for Video, then the 2nd drive just 1 partition. Question is ... how do I make the DVR Server see the 2nd and 3rd Partitions as 1 partition/drive? Do you use like Partition magic or something else... anything free and quick ..? By the way its Windows XP. thanks Rory
  4. true .. by the way just hooked up a 3 input Channel Vision RF mod, not bad. Have 2 muxes and 1 DVR on it .. the DVR is better quality than the 2 more expensive muxes .. strange ... on the Plasmas I mean, maybe cause its an all in one DVR, a budget one too, but maybe cause its digital and the muxes are analogue?? The Muxes is a Kalatel Simplex 16 Channel, and a Provideo 9 Channel Duplex, they are both around 5 years old. The 4 channel DVR is new a month now.

    removable harddrive dvr system

you may still be able to do so with linux embedded DVRs, once they record in a familiar format like AVI, ill check out the AvTech tonight and let you know. I know cant be done with GE DVRs as the hard drives are unformatted, but Linux DVRs generally let you format the drives so once it is a format that Windows can recognise should be okay? Ill ask them also.
  11. K7VT4A PRO. Socket A(462) for AMD processor VIA KT400A chipset; For FSB333MHz AMD Athlon XP/Sempronâ„¢ processor Think this may be your problem, very few cards will work okay with Via, but most dont. Generally you need an Intel or SIS chipset.
  12. Is it an Intel or SIS chipset?
  13. what operating system are you running, does it say which OS it is designed for? Crashing is a software/OS issue normally, though could also be hardware related on the PC. Whats the specs on the PC also? This can change from one card to the next. Rory

    USB DVR

I have used 1, dont know which it was was not paying that much attention to it as it really didnt work that great. I mean its okay, and a neat idea, especially if you can velcro it on your laptop Basically it is DIY quality gear. The one I used, software was very very basic. It is better to use a PCI card if you have a desktop. I can see where it can be worthwhile if using a laptop, thats about it. Rory
  15. The hardware is inexpensive and can be mass produced. It is the software that takes the time and money, and supporting the cards and software.
  16. either way, and run all wires then connect cameras. Generally i have someone else run the wire as anyone can do that, then I come along and do the camera install.

    Bosch FlexidomeXT

Yep, normally my quotes are 10 pages plus full floor plans, etc. All specs etc on the parts are included also. Just got a local airport here, and another 32 channel job somewhere else .. Actually use to put brands on it, but the clients dont know what none of them are anyway.

    removable harddrive dvr system

just buy a second $300 DVR. If u really need to know about that DVR, ill ask AvTech for you. You are forgetting one thing though, there is no operating system on the hard drive, just video files recorded in their format.

    removable harddrive dvr system

It depends on the DVR. The Embedded Stand alone units, have the software on chip on the dvr, and generally the video clips are not saved as AVI files on the hard drive. But it depends on the DVR. For example, you cant do it with the GE DVRs.

    Need a camera

Yes i have used Wide Dynamic Cameras, but they are not low light like an Exview, and nowhere near a BW quality in low light. But if the bar has lighting like a retail store then it will be fine. In any event, im going to recommend what Im using in the nightcub bar environment now, and these are reasonably priced, BW only, or color at entrances and areas with enough light, and these are for inside the location, not the car park area. Otherwise you can use what levon recommended above, i sell the ganz and pano also, just not vandal resistant, unless for the pano domes. Once again im not trying to sell anything here and im not a "rep"... also extreme CCTV (not wizKId) has a line of wide dynamic cameras, basically all their dome cameras come in those versions also, known as the CX camera, and also MX for Day Night (Not WD). If you need a WD Day Night then Pano all the way. http://www.wizkidoptotech.com/products/index.cfm?img=2 http://www.wizkidoptotech.com/products/index.cfm?img=3 http://www.wizkidoptotech.com/products/index.cfm?img=12 http://www.wizkidoptotech.com/products/index.cfm?img=17 http://www.wizkidoptotech.com/products/index.cfm?img=27 http://www.extremecctv.com/news/PDF/ACF1C3.pdf http://www.extremecctv.com/products/index.cfm?img=66 http://www.wizkidoptotech.com/products/index.cfm?img=9

    Bosch FlexidomeXT

i Dont put names on my quotes, or in my catalog, but if we got that route, sony has the best name in cameras. As for prices im going by US dealer pricing so nothing is misleading.

    Bosch FlexidomeXT

i agree CMOS is crap, generally sold as an OEM camera, and 380TVL is sold by all manufacturers, though personally i use high res only 480TVL and above, except for certain hidden cameras. Cosmetics is everything though when dealing with clients who are paying for it. Lets put it this way, been there done that, now i sell Extreme cameras. Exview, decent chip, though useless if not in the right camera.

    Bosch FlexidomeXT

"5 year unbreakable guarantee" Its on the specs for the cameras also, some of them, such as the WizKids. Can i drive over the flexidome with my jeep 10 times, and use a sledgehammer and mallot on it, without damage (short of replacing the dome cover which i have a box of), and can i spike it with a brownout day after day and still works, can it survive a couple hurricanes in a row, then lastly, add some daily beach salt air while we are at it, not to mention mon-sun 24/7 tech support?
