    Need a camera

Well having the client has tested almost every low light color camera on the market, and if an exview wont see low enough light, then no wide dynamic unless it is day night, will. The client I deal with wants crisp quality, and NO color camera can give that in low light. If you want the best quality, then you need a BW. If you can afford it, then buy a Day Night with level adjustments,. which switches to BW in low light and according to the level of light you set it to, any of the big brands. Bosch, Ganz, GE, Pano, Sanyo (actually installing a couple Sanyo Day Nighter Domes there this week, client had them at his home but moved now wants them at the club) On the subject, i have a 420 TVL BW cheap Provideo Bullet in a club on the dance floor with EI and it responds great with the changing light and sees everything, and its been there 5 years now. But personally id never put a box cam in a bar or nightclub environment as anyone can knock it and throw the lens outa whack, and short of that would require alot of lens cleaning. And if you're going to install a housing then may as well install a vandal resistant dome, with wide dynamic if you like. Sorry ive never come across a mood or wine bar in my travels

    Bosch FlexidomeXT

never said it wasnt a good product, just doesnt do what i need it to, for the jobs im selling. I have to leave those other jobs to everyone else, i get called in for the extreme jobs. By the way, no Bosch USA rep has contacted me yet, they arent on the ball like you aussies yah know ))) Besides i think they dont care about the bahamas as its not the US ... plus there is already 1 bosch seller here, a locksmith company with very little knowledge of CCTV, we are cleaning their jobs up all the time. They use good products just use inferior cable, and lack of proper installation knowledge. Bosch has some good PTZs and Box cameras now, but for domes, they have like 1 ??? I dont even use GE for domes as no selection either .. extreme and wizKid all the way for domes, and even box cameras now with their new MX and CX technology.
  4. anyone else seen the new price list? Its titled "Honeywell Korean CCTV Price list" ... are they getting desperate for sales that they have to sell OEM ??

    Need a camera

Nothing amazes me anymore, I expect it to be great. Back to the subject. Dont think you need a WD camera in a bar, unless its in the car park, or looking from dark area out to a bright area. But domes for sure. And i would really go BW over color any day, for a Bar area. But every bar can have different lighting, so buy 1 of each, BW and Color, and try them out in different areas. Rory

    removable harddrive dvr system

talking stand alone embedded units i imagine. yes .... but you need the same DVR at the other end. Even with GE DVRs, you just grab the HDD and stick anothe one it. It doesnt have a removable HDD drive but it is easy to get to. Take it to the other DVR that is the same type and it would work. Alsqo, can use a PC Capture card with AmCap or VidCap and capture non compressed video and burn that to CD, using the video out from the DVR, or mOnitor as you play it back, for high quality non compressed video. From what I can tell though, you are really looking for a DVR that records to Removable HDD, which you can take that HDD and play it back in a regular PC, such as AVI files. There's gotta be, but not sure which one. I can test this AvTech unit i have here, once i get a HDD for it. It uses a removeable HDD. More than likely with any linux based dvr that saves files as AVI, as the HDDs are pc fornatted . Rory

    Bosch FlexidomeXT

sum ugly cameras, all i can say on this subject.... going by the picture of it in their advertising etc, if it looks diff in real then i take it back they need to think ... redesign ..
  12. use the RCA or Svideo output from the Video card. Use an adaptor to convert it, such as either a Svideo-RCA adaptor (requires 1 Svideo cable and 1 RCA cable) if the video card only has an Svideo output, and a RCA-BNC adaptor. Or if it is RCA output then just use a RCA cable with a RCA-BNC adaptor. Most cards like the ATI Radeon and GEForce AGP cards, can do this. Ive noticed the GEforce mostly had Svideo while the ATI had RCA. The cards Im talking about are standard 64-128MB AGP video cards. Set it up for dual monitor, also make sure to install the full drivers and software to enable the monitor options. Without the full drivers and software they still will work to the output, but only if there is no PC monitor attached. Rory

    FPS vs. IPS

ill check my book, though im sure a couple of them probably wasnt in it when it was printed.
  14. Yeah is been discussed before .. Pesonally ive found Wavelet and Mjpeg to be highest quality while using Standalones and PC cards, and they can take up more HDD space especially with PCs, but depends on the DVR. For example, to use 720x480 in GeoVision have to use Geo Mpeg4, and that is higher quality than the Mpeg4 and Wavelet, well probably cause its 720x480 compared to the others at 640x480. When using Iview i use Wavelet, as at 640x480 it is better than Mpeg4, though takes up more HDD. Also, i use Mpeg4 for remote video on that as its faster. Didnt see much difference between Mjpeg and Wavelet. GeoMpeg4 was darker than the others. Mpeg 4 was smoother than Wavelet and Mjpeg. and ofcourse there are variations of Mpeg4 on these DVRs, eg, GeoMpeg4, Mpeg4+, Mpeg4-S .... Wavelet being "Indeo", etc etc. Wavelet on GE DVRs doesnt take that much space, i am still amazed at how long i can record for on those DVRs, compared to similar compression and HDD space, with motion, on PC DVRs. Just from what I used, no exact facts or anything. Rory

    FPS vs. IPS

Sorry CCTV .. regardless of the GUI. Im selling the cards and im still going to be honest here, and im not saying dont buy them: GeoVision to me, has no useful Remote Software by default: ActiveX Control (webCam) - Slowest I have ever seen, worst to work with next to eclipse. You require 256 upload speed or up, preferably 384 and higher. It connects to each camera individually which just slows it down even more. Remote View: Connects fast, thats it, it is featureless and terrible quality, no matter whether you turn the quality level up in preferences. Center V2 - ??? Never worked properly. Is of no use to the average user. The rest, never touched. WebCam being the most common used. Iview knocks it off the wall for remote video. Iview even tackles GEs Remote Video, and even Eclipse knocks it over. Now, it has great local video quality, and obviously a ton of useless local features, nevertheless it does have the features. But for "just a software company", and the cards being as good as they are, they could do alot better. Rory

    FPS vs. IPS

geo has 720x480 now dude you been away from the mother ship for too long btw im using PC based now cause its cheaper and with the right card, real time record speed. btttw, geo has the worst remote video ive ever seen with the cards ive usedc so far ... bestest local video foe sure though ... , but i made a customised version if interested..
  17. For Professional Infrared Products check out www.extremecctv.com but rememeber, artificial light is always better.

    Need a camera

i really doubt it, for serious IR jobs, but for a club maybe. But for a night club, BW is all you want to use if you need good quality. If its too dark then add some decent IR. I only sell day night cameras with removeable iR Cut Filters anyway. Unless they are giving them away at the candy store ... bosch is still too new a company for me "personally" to dish out $800 of my own money to test a camera with, ...i mean i need pictures .. video .. something (Yes ive used Phillips Dinions and they were "okay"). Same as saying Motoralla makes great cameras, we know the name, but they are new to CCTV so what incentive would it be for one to buy their products while there are others that have been in it from day one, who's products already work? Specs and Reps can say all they want, but without proof ... whats the point. If reps want sales then they would have samples ready to go, so reps need to shut up or put up, other wise their word means very little. Thats why i dont deal with reps no more .. and only the manufacturer, and if it sucks or otherwise, i tell them like it is, and maybe they wil improve it. So far looks like im dealing with the right manufacturers cause they listen to their users.

    Need a camera

i tried every low light color in this club, no go, i mean it works, but the picture is not clear enough compared to a BW cam, and like me the client is very particular. Depends on the lighting ofcourse, but clubs on this side of the globe, lighting is near non existent, or it is neon type which color cams cant see much at all.

    Need a camera

i just added some OEM IR Bullets to a club today, where we have had BW bullets last 4 years, will let you know how they perform, they have 3 differnt levels .. like amount of IR, worst thing with them from the onset is the lens is 1/4" so its not wide. manu warranty doesnt matter when you buy OEM but at $2000 a camera it makes a difference. Personally i only worry about the warranty of the person i buy it from, and also, if its a vandal dome, peeps like Extreme give you an unbreakable 5 year warranty so with a night club, that IS good. Criminals just broke up a bunch of the bullet cameras the other day .. ;-( From what i can tell Bosch and Samsung Techwin have the same idea, no pixelisation in low light, whether it works ive yet to see. EDIt. they dont come close to the BW cameras by the way, been through this many tims before with every color camera to name, and BW is still the best for a club.

    Matrix/DVR combo

http://www.geindustrial.com/cwc/products/ge-interlogix?pnlid=9&famid=63&catid=1088&id=DVMRe_Matrix&lang=en_US The Network Software is capable of 64 way multi view from up to 16 DVRs. Then there is the old school matrix up to 32 channels. http://www.ge-consultantlink.com/Docs/ktd_348_prd.pdf 2 of those and 2 DSR-2000 single channel DVRs. and also check this out. http://www.geindustrial.com/cwc/products/ge-interlogix?pnlid=9&famid=63&catid=1090&id=DigiplexIV&lang=en_US But the all in ones are nicer and have more networking features. Other than that, would be something like a 32 channel PC DVR, hard ware compression, so you would rack mount 2 of them. Here is a lunux based PC: (108 channels?) http://www.webgateinc.com/wgi_htdocs/eng/product/view.php?id=wgi_eng&page=1&sn1=&divpage=1&category=1&sn=off&ss=on&sc=on&select_arrange=headnum&desc=asc&no=7 PC Based Hardware Compression 32 Channels: http://www.i-viewusa.com/dg-3200ase.htm Toshiba 64 channels (?) - dont know how good it is though. http://www.2mcctv.com/specs/EVR-1.pdf There is anothe company that sells 64 channel DVRs cant remember the name someone here may post it.
