with passive baluns i had issues with a couple cameras, no logical reason, last time i ever used passive baluns ..
-
yeah brand .. try them from the DVR 5-10 feet away and see what you get. also, try the cameras with coax near the DVR. Also, forget the DVR and use a CCTV Monitor or TV to check the video also .. Rory

Hi, what baluns are you using?
-
yeah DM was my first choice a few years back when searching the interner, until i found Kalatel which had better remote software ... and well it just got better from there. When they say they are selling DM, im like cool man great DVR ... i mean they are buying it for double the GE and selling it for triple my selling price ..

GE, Bosch, Sanyo, Pano, for Box Cameras. Domes, WizKid, Extreme, Pano, Sanyo. Depends what you want. Bars generallyt require BW cameras as color will not be as clear even in the best low light color camera you can buy. Your price range is less than a Decent day night so you are really left with Color or BW. SInce you are going to be using a decent DVR, best stick with a decent camera one time. Decent domes can cost more than a box camera, but less chance of anyone messing with it. a PTZ sounds like overkill for that size of a location, since you are looking at spending in the $2000+ retail range, plus a controller keyboard. DM must be doing some serious marketing to the general security distributors, since the majority of companies that buy them just ask their security distributor to recommend a DVR .. we got plumbers installing them down here now ... moe power to them, moe jobs for me to take over and switch with a GE One person I would never ask advice from on DVRs or CCTV for that matter, is a sales person from a general security distributorship ... and by that I mean places like ADI, Silmar, etc.

Its nothing like the other GE DVRs, uses totally different software (not WaveReader) and has no features of the other DVRs. For $300 more you can get the StoreSafe which has all the bells and whistles. If the DM Eco is the same price, then it is a better buy than the Digia Rory

How big of hard drives do you normally provide?
rory replied to jisaac's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Most stand alones are 30-60fps, except for some asian ones that claim higher fps in lower res. I get 2 months recording with motion, with a StoreSafe 4 Channel 30pps 40GB DVR, Highest Quality, and Smart Motion Detection. Some food for thought. Not every DVR is made the same. Also, Im getting 6 months with 640GB, 10 cameras, and 10pps on each camera, 16ch Color Mux and DSR2000. -
VideoComm - http://www.videocommtech.com/ Best to run cable if you can though. I still prefer NVT as i know their products. But i will look into Fibertech at a later date. Rory

Setting up as a new security company...need help
rory replied to shaqdiesel's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi, Ive heard Nuvico is good, also check out the GE Security's StoreSafe 4 channel it is around the same price range, and has great remote software, which allows a single 64 camera multi view from up to 16 DVRS (any of the GE DVRs StoreSafe and DVMRes), all camera windows are configurable to which camera from which DVR goes where, great if you are doing remote monitoring for a few clients. Full configuration and advanced search features remotely. As for the camera, its not a Sony, they dont make bullet cameras. Find out what the name brand is, and regardless of that, find out what kind of warranty you get, look for at least a 3 year warranty. These are normally found in well known brands though like GE, Bosch, Panasonic, Sanyo, Extreme CCTV, etc. -
i must have had a fluke It only did it once maybe after turning off make sound on video loss it stopped it .. oh well ;-0
-
so it can see 164 feet in pitch dark at a 30% angle ..? as advertised? by the way ive used that same camera, was sold by COP-USA ...
-
i think the ones with the dongles do, as this one i just got had a dongle and with video loss will reboot, none of the others without the dongle with video loss would do that.
-
ok cause i was looking at a direct bury telco wire here, but its very old probably 10 years, anyway, its not twisted pair, so looks like we need to run new cable, its around 2000'. It was originally installed by the telco company. They have since discarded it and ran fiber.
-
was the cable twisted pair or just regular telco wire?
