ive got the BEFCMU10 4-port and its using DDNS with DynDns.org I dont think updating the firmware will help, you would need to get a new router one time. Rory -
Domes are useful for cosmetics, and when you dont want anyone to be able to easily mess with the camera.
-
Depends .. If you are using a PC like Geo, and if the PTZ is say GE and uses the KTD312 which is basically a PC interface that converts it to the Serial Port on the PC, then I guess you could look for a wireless serial port extender?

Yeah, dey made of palm leaves
-

-
sure, anyone can plunge a toilet too

If you set it up to restart then it will do so, but only once a day. Check that part of it in the system settings of Geo, you would have had to set it up for it to do that. Also, forget remote desktop, just install VNC and youre good to go. Rory

NVT-NV452R 4 CHANNEL ACTIVE RECEIVER pricey but guaranteed NVT is all i use for UTP now ...
-
Nah dont want to touch it, too much like construction work, liabilities etc. CCTV is much easier and I stay within the technical part of CCTV mainly and let the others handle the labour work. I installed alarms for 6 years but cant stand it so i dont do that anymore, also, too much time spent on CCTV now to do anything else. If i wanted another trade, honestly plumbers and electricians are making all the money now. The only other thing I may get into, is Home Automation as those jobs are megga bucks down here ... like crestron or Amx.

Yeah saw that, the prices are even more outragous than extreme's What kind of applications besides military do you think they are useful for .. just trying to see if i can justify adding them to my product list .. rory

Umm, beg to differ, you have to have experience in locks and doors to install strikes, and have the tools to do so. If i got into Access Control and do it properly, I wouldnt have the time to do CCTV, properly. I can clean pools real good to, use to be a painter, and did landscaping for a couple years, but that doesnt mean im going to do those jobs now. Thats the problem today is too many people are doing too many different things, and not concentrating on what they do best. When you see some cameras installed by a locksmith, you are going to normally find they were not installed properly, and for sure if i go and stick in an access system and start digging the door up, its gonna look like crap thats why the alarm and locksmith companies call me to do their CCTV, and why i dont go near access or locks.

yeah i know .. Hey, have you tested the thermal cameras from ganz, and if so do you have any images? thanks Rory
-
actually you can get an entry level 4 channel DVR without LAN from AvTech, as a dealer, for around that same price.
-
Depending on what you can get your hands on over there, probably GeoVision, baywatch can probably sell you a decent card. Xvision looks like everyday OEM stuff, nothing special. Either way, you will need a dedicated PC for the DVR. You can use a KVM switch to use only 1 keypad, mouse, and monitor for the 2 PCs. I use the Linksys version and it allows you to click scroll lock twice to switch. Rory

Extreme also is part of WizKid, a more mid range product, with a 5 year unbreakable warranty. Other than that I dont go any lower anymore. Other than that Id look at using the Ganz cameras. Rory

ahhh, he ate too much cheesburgers ..
-
Well an OEM product is an OEM product, no matter who you buy it from, that goes for neverfocus also. I just got tired off all the crap and now sell only Extreme CCTV (and WizKid) cameras. I sell the GE PTZ and Hidden cameras also. Some people may say, whoa, that stuff is $$, sure it is, but clients are paying for it . .. the work is coming in, just got a whole airport darnit ))) Rory

Im a sucker for a quality image, and eclipse can't do that for me. ... regardless of the following info. I dont buy them anymoe for certain reasons, the image is worthless, their dist in miami speaks very little english, warranty is basically non existant, and simply the product is the kind of rubbish which I dont sell anymore. Maybe when they were giving my boi the same camera for $45 that I had to pay $65 for, they could have remembered who turned my boi onto them! Also, another OEM, Provideo claimed their CVC-637EX was a day night (even said it on the darn box), and i got screwed on 20+ of those cameras which were only good for daytime, same kind of crap, if you tell me BS and lie to me ill never ever ever use your product again. why spend more ? You get a superior product most of the time. If you want cheap products then I cant help yah, there really is no money in it for me if i sell you a $100 camera, and to be honest im in the business for fun, but also for money! Tried the cheapo way and made no money worth talking about ,,, so now I only sell the Mid End WiZkid and high end Extreme CCTV Products. Food for thought, in CCTV you get what you pay for. rory

rory replied to dspruett's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
if you PM me and can email me a copy of the PDF, software, or something, I may be able to help. I think Chance-i are the cards they use, or at least we had a huge discussion on that a year or so ago
