    please advise

Best DVR card i have used so far for remote video streaming is the Iview card .. it is limited on the local end, as far as features like playback & search, but it beats the rest on the remote video side, simple to use and fast. GeoVision has alot of local features though, and has local 720x480 resolution, where as Iview only has 640x480 resolution on the normal cards. Now, i forgot to mention one of the few (if only one) DVR cards that have Java Based Remote Video, which works in all browsers that accept java .... one of our own members, Thomas, works for Video Insight in Texas USA ... this may be an option you want to look at ... the users wont be restricted to Internet Explorer ... as it doesnt require anything to be downloaded, whereas all other DVRs require an activeX file to be downloaded for it to run to show the video which requires Internet Explorer and a pain in the butt download time on some of them (Video Insight just needs a Java Enabled Browser like IE, FireFox, Netscape, etc), and Video Insight can probably customise it for you. Thomas any chance of a demo $1000 gets rid of the broadcasting price range When I say broadcasting im talking like what you see and hear from TV stations. Rory

will do .... ive done it with GE stand alones before and it worked good, except was a stand alone not a PC DVR card ... will find out .. should be as good or better though as thats where PC cards shine also. Im using a ceiling mount CCTV microphone so it wont exactly be Stereo, so I cant comment on that side of it. For a church though, I dont think you are looking to spend the money required for broadcasting quality video and audio (tens of thousands of $$)... so this should all work out fine for what you need to do .. 5. Okay this copies the entire folder which includes all sub folders. What it does is copy to a folder on the archive drive called "Archive" and then the rest of it is the same ... this in case you want to switch the drive to a normal drive like C,D or something else with other numorous folders and files on it, i can change the folder Archive to another name if you want, or you can change it yourself where it says fpath and archive ... try it out ... let me know ..if you want it as an EXE then let me know too, Nortons may block it also due to Nortons built in Script Blocking (from the days of the vbs virus scripts), so let me know .. By the way, it copies the folder as you listed it, the CURRENT date, by using the year, month, and day. I created similar folders on my HDD and sub folders and files and sub folders under sub folders, and above those, etc etc, and it copied them all properly. I used "c" drive for my test. I changed my PCs date and it would copy it if I have a folder for that date, if not it just does nothing .. if you need it to create an error message or anything specific if there is no folder for that day, let me know. I created a folder say for October, and it copied it no problem. So you just have to add it to windows scheduling to run once a day and it will work. I can throw together an EXE for you if you want that will do the same thing but it will do all the schedule set up for you .. if you want ... just not until tomorrow ... same code but in an EXE. .. Didnt spend a whole lot of time on this so it could use some more customizing, cleaning up and all, but it will work for what you need '----------------------------------------------------------------- CONST bDrive = "f" DIM bMonth DIM bFile DIM fpath On Error Resume Next bMonth = Month(Date) IF Instr(1,bMonth,"0")=0 And Len(bMonth) = 1 THEN bMonth = "0" & bMonth END IF bFile = "d" & Year(Date) & bMonth & Day(Date) fpath = bDrive & ":\archive\database\" Call CreatePath(fpath) Const OverwriteExisting = True Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") objFSO.CopyFolder "d:\database\" & bFile, fpath, OverwriteExisting Sub CreatePath(sPath) Dim lCt, sFound, l Dim sTmpPath, lPos, fs, sTmp Set fs = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") For lCt = 1 To Len(sPath) If Mid(sPath, lCt, 1) = "\" Then sFound = sFound & lCt & ";" End If Next For l = 1 To Len(sFound) If Mid(sFound, l, 1) <> ";" Then sTmp = sTmp & Mid(sFound, l, 1) Else sTmpPath = Left(sPath, CLng(sTmp)) If Not fs.FolderExists(sTmpPath) Then fs.CreateFolder (sTmpPath) End If sTmp = Empty End If Next If Not fs.FolderExists(sPath) Then fs.CreateFolder (sPath) End If Set fs = Nothing Exit Sub End Sub '-----------------------------------------------------------------

You can set it to "Always record" instead of motion, then it will record no matter whether the camera looses video or not. It will only loose video for as long as you have the video off that channel. Only having 1 channel you can do this and still get alot of recording. If you are going to use the 720x480 record quality which is the highest, then you would need quite a bit of Hard Disk Drive space, but good thing with PC DVRs you can easily add this later. As for audio. Ive never used audio with the PC DVRs yet, but actually hooking up one tomorrow It will record the input on the PCs Sound Card, what ever it is. Rory

Dude that will work ... hats off to CCTV Australia ... Yes, so you can then switch the outputs from the switcher to whichever one you want to show at any time on the web .. since that DVRs Video input will always be activated. Ofcourse with this, you can only ever view 1 camera at a time ... on the TV/Monitors or online .. .but you can switch between them seperately. Rory
  8. okay ... does it have sub folders also?? if so will have to pull out some of my old scripts for that ... though even easier to do in dos ... give til tomorrow and ill get something for you ... If there are no sub directories, then the above script will work ... just need to change the main directory to \database\
  9. Hey Piercam ... it doesnt have BNC, but it has RCA Output .... you just get a RCA-BNC connector and plug it into your BNC monitor ... is that what you are looking at doing? Any ATI AGP Card with TV out. Also check out these areas of ATIs site: http://www.ati.com/products/hdtvadapter/index.html and their multi media cards section: http://www.ati.com/products/multimedia.html Saphire Radeon Cards also work (with RCA out), thats what I have here now, just the ATI Cards are alot better. Rory
  10. I used an ATI card the other day with the RCA output and the quality with the RCA to a BNC CCTV Monitor was good. The PC DVR Cards DSP Output though its much muich better. If your DVR manufacturer has a DSP card Id recommend that. Im using a Saphire Radeon now with another DVR card but it isnt as good as the ATI card was. Rory
  11. So i have the GE price sheet, do i just pick say several 16 channels or whatnot and use that kind of configuration? Bringing one fiber cable from each camera or at each camera join into one main fiber ... its 52 cameras mounted 200' away from each other for 2 miles, a perimeter fence. tanks ...they gots plenty sand dollars for this one .. Rory
  12. GE? i need 53 cameras run on Fiber, back to a main point ... 2 miles along cameras, another 1/2 mile to the main point ... any ideas ?

    all solid state dvr

Totally different from a UPS .. UPS doesnt regulate the incoming voltage. A UPS is just a temporary battery back up. You can buy it seperate, or they have some UPS with them built in now. Seperate is more common and least expensive. All electronic and most computer stores sell variations of these. APC has some decent ones, cheaper than TripLite. Generally PC Stores will call them Line Conditioners, Electronic Stores will call them Voltage Regulators. The APC 600 watt unit costs around $30 retail, and can hold a couple PCs, TV, and a few monitors/TVs, at least they do fine with my set up, ive had a total of 4 PCs at a time, but normally just 2 all the time, 2 TVs, a PC monitor, and a CCTV Monitor, speakers, Router, Cable Modem, and 3 or 4 cameras. This is not a UPS and not battery back up. Rory

Well they need to move on all of them ... they need to track peoples history of trips to afganistan and look at those people ... there was a posted from London on a bahamas forum, who said they had just returned from the middle east, and their views were clear they were against the US and Uk governments ... food for thought for real .. ;-0

  23. avifil32.dll - Used to read AVI files. lsass.exe - Local Security Authority Service When you say crash, what exact error are you getting? What type of Video card do you have, all latest drivers installed? Is this Windows XP, SP1 or Sp2? What else is running besides the Geo Software? Have you turned any windows Services off? Have you tried a fresh reinstall of windows (reformat and reinstall)? Have you tried the cards in another PC? Rory

    GEO 600 dongles

GE can do 6 months recording easy. But yes it is not a cheap DVR. I have a 640GB GE DVR with always record at 5pps, 10 cameras, High Res, doing 6 months. I was looking at a GE 80GB last night, its recording from June 22nd to now (20 days), with 15 cameras, high res, motion only, 8am-8pm among 3 stores, high res high quality cameras though ...... As for GeoVision, check with Scott on this forum (VueStar). All new cards I am getting have the Piggy back, but there is no dongle required. Rory
