    Geovision 6.0 -6.11 error message

From a google search ... "The GeoVision Version 6.1 Software will only work with the latest hardware cards. The message you have received means your card is not able to support Version 6.1. Contact your distributor/supplier on how to get your card modified or upgraded." Its version 7.0 now though, and also 7.0.2 just came out. Rory

  6. mace is cheap stuff, stay away from it. Cat5 would just mean you can only use 1 camera and 1 power for the camera. Multipair would give you options for PTZ and others as well.

    Infrareds

730nm - Traffic Light Glow 850nm - Slight Red Glow 940+ nm - Invisible 20-30% loss at 850nm, 50% loss at 940nm. This is with an enhanced IR camera such as the Extreme Cameras. Cheaper cameras like bullets will be much less. Not all cameras are made the same. Bullet cameras will not perform as well as the more expensive IR cameras.. Basically the performance of the camera with Infrared effects the distance that the camera will see under infrared lighting. So while my $1000 Extreme camera can see 150' with a 200' IR Bulb 940nm outdoors, the cheaper cameras will not see that far, if they see the 940nm at all, and quality will not even come close. this is something I put together for the extremeCCTV IR and Cameras: It is based on the UF500. yeah the previous russian gov knows how to take care of terrorists ... maybe the western world need to follow their lead .. but then ofcourse they may become just as bad as the terrorists themselves .... i guess .. heck even what they did didnt stop the terrorists anyway. i say take it to the next level and get even more extreme than them ... i doubt it was all a lie over oil ... there would be no way to cover that up. Sadaam had weapons and that is well known, has been from back in '93 .. and before. I think they need to ask, where the heck did those weapons go ... thats the real question ... does some phyco have those weapons now .... obviously they just didnt dissapear ... they existed so they are somewhere for sure ... maybe castro has them.. EEEeek! To stop it happening, pull out of the mid east, then if it still happens tell them we told them so, and drop the big one ...nahh just jokin but yah know .... there is no way to fight these terrorists, they want to kill anyone that does not belong to a fundementalist islamic society, that includes Saudi Arabia ... they arent extreme enough for them .. they have to take them our at the root, where they start from .. where they get the ideas to kill others ... whereever that is ...

at least they have some ExtremeCCTV cameras out on the roads ... CNN had a program tonight on the amount of cameras they have there ... something like 1/2 million cameras ... and whether the cameras they have would actually capture anything ...
  13. i use realvnc.com . its simple to use and gives you total control. Cam Studio??? That is a screen capture program mostly designed for software demos to AVI and convert to shockwave... how are you using this program for CCTV??? Cam Studio is going to record huge AVI files. You want a DVR card with central station software, such as Geovision, hate to say it, but they record motion detection remotely and this is not common among DVRs. Rory

Hey levon yep thanks. One thing i noticed on a samsung I recently set up here for someone. yep at my home . It would accept a C or CS mount camera without an adaptor. This meant adjusting the back focus until basically it became clear. The backfocus basically controlled the entire focus of the camera. If i set it to wide and then made it clear, if i wanted to set it to narrow/far, i had to adjust the back focus again. Not sure if this camera is similar but that feature i have to say I hate! Arghh .. but i got the darn thing nice and crisp anyway Anyway no matter what, always set the camera up, or at least Test it, before you mount it at the location, and never focus it through a DVR, always use direct to the camera such as a CCTV Monitor or even a decent 13" TV (at least if you drop it off the 20' ladder its only $50 lost!). Also never use an LCD Monitor (any size TFT or not) to focus the camera. Portable Technician monitors are great for adjusting the camera position but not for focusing. FM systems even has a meter that has a focus mode, not sure how good it is, but the specs say it basically lets you focus the camera without a monitor. Rory
  15. cool thanks .. well the whole fiber thing is something i need to look at closer, GE has fiber nodes but they arent cheap .. .maybe there is something else out there ..?
  16. Great, let us know what conspires. Also, if you dont mind, can you PM me the name/contact of the person pulling your fiber, i may need them for a job at some point down here, cant get anyone here that does fiber. Thanks.. Rory

Yeah, well we arent using the software, thats like $15K .... but the license plate camera itself captured every single plate at night that went past .. they say the software itself, is approx 94% precise ... thats where the problem may arise ... but still, its 100% better than any other camera I have seen, or any wide dynamic or any regular low light camera. Ofcourse it would have issues with motor bikes and messed up plates , nothing is 100% ...

Sounds familiar, the government here have their friends installing everfocus and eclipse cameras in the customs, government buildings, etc, and they are awful, i mean they are even their cheapest models. They all get a cut so thats why they push their friends ... you know that thing called coruption .. It has been since 1993 since i lived in london, but it all looks so familiar still .. even just on Tv ...

Here's a tip to all, set your camera up before you install it, makes life easier. If you are an installer fully test and set up your camera at your location under similar lighting and focal conditions, before you take it to the job site. That way at the job site you only have minimal lens adjustments to make if any. A viewfinder will help with this so you can use it to get the exact focal length required when you quote or spec the job, then adjust the camera accordingly at your location. Personally I prefer Dip Switches over the OSD. Rory
