Hi, Need some more info. Which Extreme Cameras are they? Are they doing the job? What are they intended to do? All i sell now is Extreme Cameras, so If I can help let me know. As for DVRs, you say 4 DVRs as the cameras are at far locations. So you were using the Everfocus Network software to connect to them? If so, Everfocus is not a multi site DVR, at least shouldnt be used as one. If I tell you the ones that are great for multi site, you may just think twice though when you see the price. You can also just get them all back to one location, using Cat5/UTP Multi pair, and some ACTIVE N.V.T. Transmitters and a receiver. These can allow from 3000 feet to 1.5 miles depending on which options you use. If you have read the forum you may have already seen something on the NVT gear. Another way to do it is almost Old School, with a little of the new School gear. With GE Multiplexers, you can link them with Cat5 cable up to 10,000 feet away. You can use 1 GE Keypad to control and view them all. Now, the recording would have to be at each Multiplexer, but this is still okay, you can use the DSR2000 for that. To confirm that best to email GE, and then check with a local distirbutor on pricing. Its not that expensive, but alot more than the everfocus set up. Another nother way to do it is multiple DVRs like you use now, PC or Stand alone, depends what your needs are. GE has stand alones, with a 64way multi site network software. PC based can give you much faster remote video though over the current GE units. Anyway Ill leave it there for now, let us know. Rory

Levon? Back again .. nice to see yah, hear yah, read yah i mean Yeah Id like to find out about those IIp units .. from GE? thanks Rory -
gawd its my last choice short of ordering from the US ... there are no others available on the island with Intel chips, everything else is either too large or dont have AGP. .. or are VIA.

well the DVR baud rate has to match the PTZ baud rate ...
-
well most of the time the cheap PTZs only work with the same brand DVRs, just like how I cant use the Eclipse PTZ on any DVR other than the Eclipse ... or at least I wouldnt even try it. That PTZ looks like someone built it in their back yard with a zoom camera and some tools ...

which DVR and which PTZ?

High quality, yes. Audio, 1 channel. If you need more than 1 channel you really need a PC based. Well I wouldnt even put honeywell on the list, nor clinton, and GVI and Nuvico are mid range DVRs so they arent really in the same league, but still decent DVRs. Video Insight is a Hybrid PC DVR. Toshiba and Sanyo are good names but not the same as the GE DVR, though some like to think Sanyo is as good .. I just havent seen anything yet that matches the GE, bosch is getting close, very, and may even be there. Remember Kalatel has been doing this for years, along with Kodicom, and Teleplex, they were really some of the first major manufacturers of professional DVRs. Dont forget Dedicated Micros (personally dont like them), Baxtor and Dallmeir either ..

The GE's are rock solid stand alones, except for speed (and price), will beat any of them in quality, ease of use, simplicity, and stability. The DVMRe-CT is the best, cause its so small in height, and does alot, even though 60pps, its a great unit. The PRO does 120pps with built in CD or DVD and USB / Firewire. still embedded Nulceous RTOS, but I prefer the CT personally. If you want speed then you need a PC, which the fusion is, but you can build a better one for much less. ATV doesnt come close to the GE DVRs.

cctv.net?

Dont assume too much, Honeywell is not exactly a big player in the CCTV industry ... only thing they got going for them is they bought Ultrack and Silent Witness, but even those arent what they use to be. Ademco video's prices have always been triple what they are worth, so dont go by the price tag, i checked into them before they became honeywell, but its still the same brand. Where did you get that price from anyway, ADI, or other? I See commusa is selling them, but then they are also selling crappy pelco cameras (just worked on a couple of those they have on their site, and they were sooo crappy).

The GE DVMRe-CT has 2 Multipleview Monitor Outputs and 1 Spot. You can link them all up just like you can link their muxes. The Digiplex (Matrix), yes, you would need single channel DVRs along with it so it would act like a mux recording to a DVR. You loose some network functions like Multi-Site (can only remotely view 1 DVR at a time in one instance of the software). They have a 32 channel Matrix System which is less expensive, to some degree. Matrix is actually old school, but with the single channel DVRs and disk space up to 2TB it still gives you alot. I have a client with 10 camera mux and a DSR2000 single channel DVR, 640GB, gets 6 months on 5pps, motion detection. They have the DVSe which is additional digital storage that can be added to the DVRs and you can also connect to them. This is GE anyway . .. the others not sure. Ultrack has some good matrix systems, used to use them for most casinos, but casinos have upgraded to PC based now ... some of them anyway .. even GE now makes Casino DVRs which are PC based.

why are you switching your GEO to the Iview? is it the dongle ? They dont use them now ...

i like iviews simplicity for sure .. been playing with a Geo since yesterday, had some issues, and Geo doesnt have any "real" remote live software .. whats up with that??? Anyway, going to make my own and hopefully their new software comes with better remote software, as well as a Disk Map/Slider. I havent really seen what features it has as far as what we can actually use ... maybe someone can point some out cause im not reading that 100 page booklet ! I like the Geo support though, from Scott, especially for specing out the raid rack solutions etc. ... and if its the leading card on the market, will be worth using it and customising the software ... Plus GEO does have all the extra goodies ... hardware accessories, etc. Eclipse still has the best playback I have seen though . ... dont know how a $100 card can do that! Support and Failure rate (cards just not working out of the box, i mean not even being recognised) ... too much with them. Im liking GE standalones more and more every day Just cant get the speed out of them is all .. then there is the price tag and duty on them is 45% ... PCs are duty free

Stand Alone ... GE has the KTD-405 controller Keypad, allows you to control hundres of DVRs. Or use the Network Software and get 64 Camera multi DVR view. They also have a matrix type DVR set up called DigiPlex. But like you said they are big dollars. Hunt has Multi Site network software also but not more than 16 cameras at once. Toshiba is a PC based. By the way, we are switching out a Bosch Desa PC DVR for a GE DVMRe next week .. so will have the Desa to play with. They wanted the size of the DVMRe and didnt want to use a mouse or keyboard... wanted simplicity and stability. 12 volts DC seems to have less issues, but 24volts AC is better for other reasons. Rory

no choice on the eclipse on that job. Been working fine since then though. Can only tell them if they dont have the money there is nothing else can do. From experience last couple days with Geo, Geo is much more tempormental than the others I have used though. -

no, used striping, spanning was the other option. But basically, they had 2 drives, and eclipse doesnt have software to do the job, so had to do it this way, they are cheap. -

Tell them you can sell them all GE stand alones, better than march Networks, and easier to deal with -
Do anyone knows for how long I can have power on UTP LAN cab
rory replied to jsimon's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
24VAC up to 500', you may be able to push it like herm did also, cheap cameras only. 12VDC doesnt go that far. -
penzat gives you up to 3500 channels with the right amount of dishes and LNBs ... but then, how much is worth watching .. not many .. ;-0
