this is gathered approx estimates from extreme tech support, and beam and spectral response level estimates - this is only an estimate and can differ depending on the camera utilised or the IR range and surroundings. This is not a supported diagram from extreme so take it as you will. UF500: UF100: Approx: 730 nm: 10 degree - 130 feet 30 degree - 95 feet 60 degree - 65 feet

Thats about right then, the UF500 is a totally different beast from the 100. ... Also, what beams are used on both IRs?
-
Is there enough light for the BW image? also, do you have it by the Extreme IRs? also ... can you post me some snapshots of day and night ? If you email me I can post them for you thanks again Rory

Damn Data, what's your problem?!! I’m trying to describe a dome camera here. Why do you have a problem with that? he lives on a can of coke and pelco ... sometimes ganz and a pepsi .. Seriously though.. Kaysadeya is our professional DIY testing out stuff that most of us cant, eg. He is using Extreme CCTV UF500s, UF100's, etc, along with Box cams and now a dome, all True day nights with Auto IR cut Filters, etc, and getting useful info to us that want to use this gear .. This info is very useful for us ... thanks kaysadeya Even the big boy name brands cant get their crap together with a decent day night vandal proof Wall mount dome ... thats why the mid range guys will be leaving them in the dust when all is said and done, for one Im moving over to vandal proof more and more . .. Box cams in pelco vandal resistant housings, and bullet cams, just done cut it anymore ...

hmmm, put up some thing like they use at golf courses, a large net .. I say get a wide angle camera, even a 3.6mm Bullet or even 4mm .. get your yard in, and just let it get a peice of the other yard but make it more obious that you are watching your yard, just the lens gets theirs as well. Or pay a private detective agency to record them 24/7. Dont think there is any law really that can prevent that, as once their property, even the inside of the house, is viewable to the public, then that cannot be considered a privacy issue. If they want privacy they need to put up a wall, close the curtains, get my drift. Best check you local laws though. If it was me, Id just put it up and let them know im watching, if they complain id say the wind must have moved it .. aint nothing they can do but complain ... while they are complaining and you notice a null in the food throwing, then when you move the camera back off thier property, and it starts again, then put a complaint into the police if you want to keep it all legal, or deal with it in another way.

Yeah, when you put something right in front of the camera, it gets brighter, so it switches to color, right? If so its normal. I have the same effect when using BLC turned ON, so basically to see inside a car, with BLC off its too dark inside the car, as its only a few feet from the camera, when I turn on BLC, it gets bright when the car passes in front if it, so I can see inside the car ... but yeah also due to AI. Extreme's Day Night cams do this also. As for the dip switches, leave them all turned OFF for now .. AGC on normally will produce a brighter image at night, for low lighting, but a sad image in the day, only turn on BLC if you really need it, doesnt sound like you do, Flickerness, let me know when you figure that one out, seems its something that has appeared in all these Asian domes I got lately, with little to no documentation about it, keep White balance etc on auto. As for focus that depends on the camera, some are like that from the factory, you can probably get into it and loosen up the lens to adjust that, but with a dome, I wouldnt bother, they may just break!! How is the BW image, is it clear, and is it lower light? How does the Dome feel, like is it strong, does it look like its sealed good for weather resistance? Rory

hmmm, not bad, (OEMs with no IR cut filters?) Only thing, I had to manually download a set up program, then view it in IE .. as it wouldnt download automatically an activeX. With that I may as well just download the windows software and use something moe powerful ..?

Was going to use a couple of them for this plumbing company if we gat the job. Will keep you posted. I've got two Nuvico day/night domes that I'll be installing over the weekend. So far. I've had a mixed reaction from the "bench test" (more like "couch test" around here). what was the mixed reaction? Ive got a 16 camera quote now .. need to know if they are any good

some alarm company down here installed 10 lilin ptzs with the lilin DVR for $100,000 !! if suckers are born every day, why cant i meet them
-
I Second that Anyway, Professional cameras dont come in wireless, those would be the OEM s like COP, MACE, ECLIPSE, etc, cheap stuff, so you dot get a great image. 1.2 and 2.4 would be the same quality, depends on the camera itself, not the transmission. For professional grade wireless you would be looking at the following, then you can add it to any CCTV camera: www.videotransmitters.com www.trangosys.com
-
lilin is probably the cheapest you will find for any PC DVR ... even eclipse is the same price as Lilin ..

If you are buying hardware from a company the software is supposed to be free. Especially when it is green

Microsoft, Adobe, and Norton all are using online activation, would you prefer that? In all reality, some of the most expensive programs out there use key dongles, and they are a good idea to protect against piracy. Most of the time you see the dongles used in smaller niche software companies where the development costs / customer are much higher. Like it or not, piracy is a big problem and you will see more and more software applications that require this type of authenication. If you think dongles suck, you should see some of the other authentication methods that are coming online for software. One company here at Computex is touting its new true "per user" software auth which makes sure that only ONE person is able to access the software by using thumbprint scanning. Really?? ive never had to activate anything .. and im im using the latest software .. If their software is that good, the occational piracy will not have an effect on the profit ... All they really need to do is create a serial number for each single software program ... if the person is that good a cracker, then they deserve the soft free!
-
anyone else notice they look like the Ambush Domes ..? anyway, if Kaysadeya has some good luck with them (after all he has tested the True Day Night Box cams) then would be worth it on the current quotes I have out ... as they are wall mountable from the image ..?
-
Most important, do they have IR cut Filter, and do they switch to lower light BW or stay the same Lux Level ... let us know kays, we're depending on you You are so far testing hard to get items like Samsung Techwin, and now Nuvico ... so will be good to know whether it is worth the hassle of filling out those long dealer forms they wanted me to fill out .,.
-
yeah let me know Darn, im on 5 options now .... thats it though ... i could throw in some cheapo bullets as a 6th option but nahh ... they get hit i gotta waste $20 gas to go fix it ...
