    BOSCH DVR

Yep .. no prob. Reason I had to go the Sanyo route also, is due to the extra customs import taxes we have here, basically we sell the products for Double once it has landed here, so the price is huge on Pano, GE, etc, while Sanyo has a lower priced Day Night, which works well even with Extreme CCTVs IR. I know its a cheaper product, and looks cheap too .. just got to sell what I can .. with a limit ofcourse .. its gotta work good

    BOSCH DVR

http://www.spytown.com/boschbilinx.html Wow, 3 year warranty, yah dont say! All sounds fine and dandy, but If I cant get them because the US reps couldnt give a crap, then ill stick with what I can get, and what works great - Pano, Sanyo, GE, Ganz, Provideo, and Extreme. Non of the distributors I have dealt with see anything special in them so they really have crap prices on them, GE is one of the biggest sellers for box cams in FL and I can get a great price, and they are great box cams (all except the Ultraview). Still, even if i were to use the Bosch Box cams, I still need to buy Sanyo, Ganz, and Pano Domes (fixed domes), as the bosch domes need some work. No manufacturer makes a full range of great all application cameras, thats why it is important to have a model for each application. Like i said, I was willing to switch from GE to Bosch, for the applications that use GE box cams, but got no possitive response from anyone - the same goes with Samsung Techwin - its all good having all these features, but if a client cant buy it .. whats the point advertising it??

    Dual Hard Drives with DVR

yeah, can imagine. I have a Kalatel DVR with 1TB and it does approx 6 months on time lapse . .. This is also interesting ... dont know if it comes in to play with DVRs or not .. http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1477&page=5 "Mounting drives as folders One rather interesting option available with the disk manager is the ability to mount individual partitions as directories in another volume. For example, if you had a computer with a 20GB disk formatted into a single partition and volume (drive c:), you could purchase a second drive, partition and format it from disk manager and then instead of giving it its own drive letter, add it to your c: drive as a directory. Any files added to that directory would of course be stored in the new HD. This can come in extremely handy, as certain applications (databases come to mind) can grow extremely large, but may not support storing data on a separate drive. As far as Windows is concerned, a drive mounted as a directory is just a directory, so no extra drive letters are involved. This can also cut down on storage confusion for the average user, and it's easy to do, though it can only be done with NTFS formatted partitions. Also, the boot partition cannot be used this way, though other partitions can be added to the boot partition. Also note that shuffling the partition around in this way has no effect on the data stored in it. You can move an NTFS partition from directory to directory, then give it back a drive letter if you choose, while maintaining complete access to the data inside. No reboot is necessary. One other note: If you have installed software on a partition you plan to mount as a directory, it is best to uninstall and reinstall it, since the move may stop the software from working correctly. Windows will warn you about this... "

    BOSCH DVR

Have you used GE cams yet, cause they are da Bestitest As for that Bilinks thing, for $1000 its not worth it. I do have one question though, why do they look like Sunnel Cameras?
  13. Okay, im lost now :-0 Port 80 is just the port that IE will recognise without you having to type the port number after the IP. You can use the other ports, but then you have to type those numbers after the IP address like : 24.244.111.45:81 You can also use 8080 once the Router isnt using it. Or you can use any of the other ones I listed before. It wont effect any of the other computers by using Port 80, unless you want those computers to be a server also, and use port 80, then there will be a conflict. Rory

80 on as 4 channel is actually quite normal these days, in fact I have 4 camera GE DVRs with 40GB HDDs recording for 2 months with 4 cameras, using the built in Motion detection. They come in 160GB also, but Im sure that you can add as much as it will take. I think it has 2 bays so whatever you can fit into that.

Problem with Light dark and bright

Yep, okay waasnt the camera doing it .. turned out to be the wiring/DVR. Had to close the empty ports in the DVR software ... strange doesnt do it by me... .also, even once done, one of the cameras are wired up with RG6 Aluminim braid so this is probably the issue. Ill check it again in the morning to see what its doing, but ill probably have them run RG59. Anyway, the first camera that was doing it doesnt, but the 2nd dome is .. but probably due to wiring. I have to hook my monitor up to it direct in the AM to check ..
  16. this dome camera I have, after a while, not straight away, maybe 30 minutes, it will start to flicker bright, then dark, then over and over ... It gets so bright you cant see nothing but white ... back and forth. Any ideas? I turned everything off so its all default settings, EI on (has a VF AI lens), AGC Low, Flicker Off (whatever this is!?), LL Off. Its using 12VDC plug. It has reverse polarity, supposedly. Its an OEM (yes I know) and so there is no real manual. Rory
  17. Ive used several of them in the past couple months, 4 and 8 channels, and they all have DDNS. The one i have right here is the BEFSR41, 4 channel, and i just hooked up the 8 channel version of that the other day, and also another 4 channel on Saturday which is a VPN Switch version. You are right about the older ones, the older ones dont have DDNS, though this 4 channel is from back in August of last year ... think it had to do with when Cisco took over.

    BOSCH DVR

I dont think I would say the best cams in the world, they are great, but so are others. Unless you want to get a rep in touch with me, so far its fruitless as none are interested. The cams I have used are in line with the GE cams, and Sanyo. Right now im pushing GE, Sanyo, Ganz and Pano .. different ones for different applications.

  20. How about a 4 channel DVR card . ..? This will take up to 4 inputs and you can then view it on the web. You can simply use the loop out on the mux or quad. Rory

    problem with everfocus cameras

Yeah, know what you mean. If you sell them a stand alone, like the GE, etc, embedded RTOS, then less likely to have to go back for DVR related issues. I have some Kalatel DVRs (now GE) from 4 years ago ive never been back to, and I check once in a while to see that they are still online is all. They dont have the PC features but they are workhorses, and can be much more neatly installed than a PC system. There are also other RTOS DVRs such as Bosch, Sanyo, Pano, WebGate, etc. Ofcourse no service needed on those systems, havent had to go back, means no recurring money .. hence the move to the PCs Not a huge calling for CCTV in this country, so I have to take what I can get .. since its my only business. As for cameras, never rely 100% on specs, nor what your distributor tells you - always test it first to make sure, especially if you are going to install alot of them. Or look here in the camera section as there may already be some reviews from real world installs... The big name brands normally will be better products, than the low end OEM companies .. though you can get lucky sometimes on the OEM stuff, just have to be willing to spend a little or take a chance on some smaller jobs like give the client the camera at cost so you can just test it out. Thats how Ive gotten to test so many products without dishing out a fortune. The client is always happy either way. Personally I prefer the higher end products. Just selling them for 4 years was not getting enough work, now the slump is finally over as Im offering varying levels of products. Rory
  22. Dont know about that. The camera I use from the Kalatel day (before GE) is the same as the ones they sell under the GE name now .. Im sure the manufacture them in Taiwan but they are still the same cameras from the Kalatel Days ..

    Dual Hard Drives with DVR

I have the Eclipse Card, which is supposed to be a Digiflower card. I dont see it on Digiflowers web site but it looks like them .. it is blue, its 240fps record ... cant get it to work on windows XP though ..any ideas why? At least it loads the drivers fine, and the software is the same software from eclipse for their other 120fps card, and it works on XP when that card is installed, But just with this card in, the program just wont open, wont even give an error message ..

    problem with everfocus cameras

Im glad you can get all the "big" jobs, but in the real world that doesnt work. Its nothing to do with comprimising, its to do with what the client can afford. And like I said, a Professional "Installer" is someone that "Installs" for a living, and installs it correctly. Its got nothing to do with the product used. Have you tried the Extreme CCTV gear? It is being used by the US military, NATO, All over the UK, so Im sure it is very professional. Simple question: do you own your own company, or do you work on Salary? And as soon as I see a crimp on, I pull it to make sure it was put on properly, 99% of the time it wasnt and comes right off. When you are in the business for a living, you cant turn down those small jobs. Especially when CCTV is all you do, and most clients dont see CCTV as a priority. I deal with High End, Mid End, and Low end. Have to pay the bills. ----------------------------------------------------- http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=professional
