Horizontal Lines in Video

I would have expected 2 connectors to cost more than 1, but maybe you meant you already had them? The reason I used them before was because we couldnt find any BNC connectors besides the adaptors at that time, without bringing them in, not i just bring them all in bunches. -
That depends, no manufacturer makes all great cameras. But the Provideos are very good, they are OEMs from Asia but they select some great cameras for their HEAT line, and their BW CVC-325s are great also. Not all of their bullets are great though, you have to test them to know which is which. Just like the cheap eclipse color bullet I have, better than any indoor dome ive used or seen used. Alot of their other bullets look like crap also, and their indoor domes are even worse, their vandal resist domes arent near as good as the bullet also. Ive seen $300 domes that cant match this bullet, and im sure this isnt the Only good OEM bullet, its just finding one that does look good. Its still low res and EI so its not great, but compared to the indoor cheap domes, it is much better. Basically if you want a great bullet camera look at the provideo HEAT line, if you want color. They also have some great BW Bullets, this 325 i have hear has been running for 4 years now, and been on through hurricanes also, and its not that expensive.

they look gawd awful though, looks like they are made in china like from one of those Sunjin places ..also cheap bullets are better images than cheap domes .. normally .. good luck, becuase ive had none with cheap indoor domes, ive given up on them, i just use the cheap bullets for cheap cameras now, or the cheap vandal resistant domes that can be used outdoors for clients that really need a dome. On that subject i have 2 cheap indoor domes here now, id rather dive to the bottom of the ocean and bury them in an ocean cave somewhere, than to put them up at my clients property!! Thats how bad they look .. and oh, they are CCD ..bty Ive used other more expensive indoor domes and they were much better .. still no dome can compete with a decent box camera .. except the domes cant be moved as easy.

isolate it. Sometimes 1 bad camera can causer all to go haywire on a PC DVR especially. If all cameras look fine on a TV/CCTV Monitor, then also try taking each camera off one at a time, from the DVR. -

ground problems .. the correct way would just to use the BNC ...i used the fconnectors-BNC adaptors for a while in the beginning but was just too many issues of no video, grounding problems, etc. -

Ok to start with you need to get rid of the Fconnectors - BNC, as you can run into issues with them, get some twist on BNC connectors and follow the instructions, or I can post a link to how to put them on. Also chck the other things i said, direct into a TV or CCTV Monitor, at both ends, start with the camera end. -
Yep, actually im testing a camera, see the new post in the Security Cameras Section ... the camera 1 is the cheap Eclipse color bullet, the BW is Provideo been working 4 years now, and the new one i just connected, camera 2 (only temporary im taking it off in a minute) is the Provideo CVC-637EX High Res Bullet. ... just added a second Eclipse color bullet also ...camera 4 ..

Yep, except with a Balun you loose quality and the video gets brighter over distance and washed out .. Hes got Siamese Cable, so I think he would have RG59 and hopefully some good quality cable, which will be a better image than passive UTP. Im thinking he would be powering them all from the same location and the monitor and DVR also, but then we dont know how he has it set up .. need some more info .. definately needs to check each camera individually, and on a CCTV monitor or TV .. at the camera, and at the DVR end (but not connected to the DVR) -

No attachment, can you email me it, email is below the sig, i can post it here for others to see if you want.. Also, plug a camera direct into a TV and see if the lines still exist, use the TVs AV input, you will need a BNC-RCA connector. If the lines still exist then its not the DVR or PC. The next thing to check is another camera. If they all have lines then its something in the room maybe, or if they are all being powered from the same multiple supply or same outlet you may want to change that and see what happens. If only some of them still have lines, they maybe too close to high voltage, lighting, etc, or the connectors are not properly grounded. So the next question, If you are using BNC did you strip the wire back properly, and leave some ground (stranded part) for the BNC connector, and also make sure that the ground is not touching the center core .. Is the interference on play back also? -
what version of the software is it, and make sure its not in caps ..?
-
they have to say which is which ...when we are talking PC DVRs ... stand alones like the Kalatels are different, their live display is real time up to 9 channel view, after that it breaks down; even if it is a 30pps recording DVR.

ill have to go through it properrly later, just got home .. question though, whats an RF encoder, never heard of that ..

Yeah but I cant get it in Miami .. Its got to be something I can get my hands on quick, Provideo, GE, Sanyo, etc, can get them in 2 days at the most. Not to mention if I buy from LA or somewhere up north, time as shipping here I may as well buy the SAnyo from Miami ..

Ok then ...arghh, feel like it was 2 hours sleep last night .. well it was! Anyway, what i did today was quick seal with clear caulk the video/power leads back into the slots so the clips would hold. Wont budge now! Anyway, put the camera all back together .... well yah know, got left over with a bunch of screws dont know WHAT they are for. .. anwyay the camera moves and adjusts so anyway .. thats all the matters Stil had the image problem. Video totally gone now, may need soldering of the AI screw, if in fact that is what it is, may just send it back... Didnt get a chance to see the Eclipse Dome in the day as I disconnected it 7am this morn, but will hook it up in a little, ill move it probably. where there is more light ...

the Varifocal Lens is going to give a better image. also see my other post about the provideo dome .. Rory

Ok there yah have it, the 4mm is not auto iris while the Varifocal one is .. The difference price between the 4mm Auto Iris and the Varifocal auto Iris probably wasnt enough for them to make a seperate model. It is also then possible that 4mm Fixed lens could be a micro lens after all, as with most other domes with fixed lenses. The Kalatel price list had me confused also, with all the different lenses etc, they updated it finally to list whether it was Ai or not .. .. they dont always make the best of sense these manufacturers/reps ..
-
looks like the 4mm fixed lens is a real lens, not a micro lens like fixed lenses on other domes. So looks like it may be Auto Iris on both types of lenses. Only going by the photo, but normally if it is a micro lens they will say 4mm micro lens - which wouldnt have auto iris. Varifocal lenses also come without auto iris though, such as with the GE domes, they have VF with or without AI. Id get the VF anyway, if its not much more$$ Basically the reason why most domes are either micro or VF, is there is a big difference in price, but the difference in price between a regular fixed and a VF lens is not enough to make a difference, normally. If the 4mm is not auto iris though it would make a difference, so you would need to check with them. Alot of cameras also say auto iris, but it is sometimes just their way of saying electronic iris, to make it look good. Because really its similar anyway, just Ei the camera does the work. Like I said though, it doesnt make a huge difference, Ive been setting these domes to EI anyway as its just easier, and AI mode makes no difference. That said, i still dont understand the Domes that much, i prefer the Box cams they are much more straight forward ..
-
fixed Mircro Lens, not Fixed Iris Lens ..
-
No micro lenses dont have auto iris. See its the lens that makes it auto iris. The lens does the work, so when you use an Auto Iris lens you can set it to AI/EI, where AI lets the lens do the lighting adjustments, and EI lets the camera do the lighting adjustments. The AI lenses get power from the camera, so there would be a lead going from the lens to the camera. No fixed lenses have this. Alot of todays cameras can do very well though on their own, without an Auto Iris lens. Rory

Well, bad news . .wallmounting the Provideo and turning it to the right, it loosened the cable it uses for the power and video from the power board to the camera board ...its like a mini hard Drive cable ... just clips in though, had some kind of green glue but that was useless as it came right off. Bad design on that part. Screw down like the GE would have been much better, now im using the clear caulk to see both of the ends back as those little clips broke easily. Anyway, video went dark last night, then when i tried to ajust the auto iris, or thats what the manual said that screw was, thats when the picture went all together. I managed to get it back eentually, but still when i knock the camera it would go again ..so sealing these clips and will see what happens. Maybe that screw labeled as the Auto Iris isnt it after all ..there is another screw also, but its not RED like the manual said .. though from the photo copied image of where the auto iris pot is, it looks more like thats the one .. hard to tell since its so hard to get to, without taking even more screws off ... already got it in pieces as it is .. im getting real tired of DOMEs at this point . ... i guess the important thing is, stay way from wall mounting domes .. WizKid has a great 360 degree gimble, but they only have BW or Color, no low light or Day Night .. well they have a day night but its low-mid res and no IR cut filter. Oh well, will see what happens ..

none of those movies tweaked my interest .. lord of the rings was just plain boring, the previous star wars were even more boring ... from the previews of this one on TV, it looks the same .. heck Star Treck is even more interesting these days, and what about doctor WHo?!
