    Some general camera questions

yeah i was wondering about the 598HIM, how does it actually compare to the provideo 7706DNV? They are trying to push it on us, we just brought in a ton of their other cameras to sell. I have the 4 channel 30fps card here right now actally in my PC. Also, was it the Nubix you tried? Only thing with the Nubix, I can get the same DVR from VA with a CDRW from the manu rep ...waiting on a sample. Im talking right now about getting the 598HIM on tuesday to demo. 598HIM http://www.eclipsecctv.com/IRCAMS.html Question .. where do you buy your eclipse from? Miami or somewhere else? Rory

    Wireless Video

Just watch out for heat, those things put off alot of it. The ones I had that I put in the attic, I hooked up a CPU fan from a computer, with the heat sink and all, and attached it to the TX, in a 4x4 gang box. i also drilled holes in the gang box to let out the hot air. Kept it reasonably cool since the attic was well over 150 degrees or more in the summer days down here, and even in the winter. The heat wasnt the real problem why i stopped using them, it was the concrete buildings here, and AC ducts, that blocked alot of the signals and then had to run all kind of wire to get around that, and plus, the High Voltage that caused the interference, as well as cell phone interference when it rang! Also, I got the TX in the end up high, but the RX was a different story and that is where alot of my issues were. So basically if you are goign to do it, take into account that they have to go well above any objects that could block it and far away from any high voltage. It was just alot easier in the end to run wire Apparently 900mhz can punch through concrete alot easier, so depends where you are installing them, The 900mhz dont have the distance of the others though. Now they were not VideoComm Wireless, but from reading their info its similar in the way you have to install them. I may have a large wireless job coming up actually, and could use the help of some of you DIY guys that like to "build" things ... ill post when the time comes (in the dealer section). Im talking 4 mile distances in a gated community full of million dollar homes... so would be alot of fun also ... We'v e already got the job to re-do the security gate, and the cameras are here so thats happening next week ... after that then we will work on getting the rest ..all extreme CCTV IR and Wireless VideoComm 5.8Ghz.

okay ... its set up .. internet explorer address is .. http://rory.is.dreaming.org - DONT CLICK .. yet User & pass = demo, it has full setup & search admin rights also. now it uses pop up by default so you have to disable pop ups ..ill change that when i take this card out and put it in the actual PC im going to use for it ... Heres what the issue is .. you cant minimize it, they even disable the windows key ... anyone know a simple way around this without me hurting my head ..?? Anyway, I can post a time when Ill put it up, but when its on I cant do anything else on my PC ... ill wait for some replies first .. Rory

He he he .. Ill check local pricing and specs on Tuesday, for Laptops, and let you know, could be worth it. .... Anyway, I just installed the Eclipse 4 channel card, with 1 camera. Display is real time though Ill know when I connect up all 4 cameras, which wont be right now. T-connectors are not really any good so need a mux, will get one tomorrow. Its only supposed to be 30fps total anyway .. Anyways, its working on the AMD PC no issues. Now this is where it gets weird, this is basically the cheapest 4 channel card next to Ebay I have seen, but it has settings for 740x480 and 720x480, as well as MPEG4 and MPEG4+. .... whats up with that? Ill know in the day if it really is doing any higher res, night is not easy to tell. Very plain Set up, simple. Users seem to be a little on the disfunctional side, you have to set up seperate users for remote access, but cant set cameras to each user, so they see all cameras. It starts and shuts down by default, but that was easy enough to change. Anyway, since im already running port 80 for the Iview card on another PC, ill have to set this to port 81 and do a web hop with DynDns.org, am setting that up right now. When im done and tested it Ill post a link here to check it out, with full admin user and pass etc. Darn, now I got to delete all the *movies* before yall hack my PC!!! LOL .. cant give that away for free yah know ...! Rory
  9. No one .. your best bet is a good Day Night PTZ, Cyber Dome from GE or some Pelcos, or Panasonics, then use some Extreme CCTV Infrared. Extreme have special mounts etc, made specially for Pelco PTZs, so you may want to look down that avenue. Personally im going to be using some Cyber Dome Day Night 25X pTZs with some UF500s, on a house here. Should be fun, if it ever comes around .. I may even look at the panos or pelcos .. depends what extreme recommends, need to look at the job a little closer .. I want ready made mounts, etc, so it may have to be Pelcos.

    Day/Night Question

No Samsung is talking about the box camera .. nothing new though, except the price tag on the 520s is "kind of' lower than others. Sanyo I think is just as inexpensive. Like you said, I installed one of them like 4 years ago ... with 2 UF500s and works great, not even an IR lens ..
  13. Do you have a link ..? thanks Rory

Slapped in a Radeon $40 card, some extra memory and put in my larger HDD, and its great ..

And Im putting it in my AMD PC I have an Intel one to put it in as well, but I just want to make sure it will work in the AMD first as I can get the AMD PCs for $250 brand new from Tiger. Its going to be our DIY cheap PC Card, will sell it in a local electronic store.
  17. take one off and watch it for a while, if it still does it, take another off, watch it. If it still does it ... Check Power. Doesnt sound like connections as that would normally be 100% of the time. Get an APC 600watt Voltage Regulator, put it all on that. Change the power supplies if you can, get a multi output fused supply. Make sure all cable is at least 1 foot from high voltage cable, and as far as possible from lighting. Make sure it is nowhere near a breaker panel. If you stapled the wire make sure the staples didnt go through the cable. Make sure the cable is not bent somewhere. Its also possible its nothing to do with the cameras, and could be interference on the DVR end. Where is the DVR located, what is near it, is anything near the DVR that cause interference? Also, do you have the output to a TV, try it on a different TV as some TVs (like mine for example) the video inputs and outputs are messed up, loads of interference, and on and off, not all the time. Like DataAve said, I really doubt it is the connections either way. Even with the cheap *island (snicker) * twist ons you would notice it from day one if its not on properly. But make sure the connections are not exposed to outdoors as well. Ive personally experienced the fliskering from wireless video which was intermitent (interference from cell phones and high voltage), a bad input on an EverFocus DVR, and other installers jobs where it was 100% of the time from bad connections, bent wire, wire to close to lighting, etc. Rory
  18. Its funny, since alot of amateurs are using Crimp Ons .. Perhaps they didnt want to use them BECAUSE they didnt know how to put them on properly. It doesnt matter which one you use, once you know how to put it on correctly, dont use cheap ones, and use good wire that wont break easily. 4 years now none of "my" BNCs have caused any issues.

These are supposed to be their best ones .. http://www.videocommtech.com/index.php?SCREEN=view_catalogue_level2&add=edit&prod_ID=10 I used 1.2Ghz before and cell phones would mess up the signal, as well as other unknown occcasional interferences ..
