New SONY HD Hybrid over Coax
rory replied to Megapixelman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
A Nissan Sunny is nowhere near the speed of a Ferrari ... And yet it does the job ... even at night. -
New SONY HD Hybrid over Coax
rory replied to Megapixelman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Nowhere near as cheap as analog. Not when you can get 320TVL IR bullets on fleaBay for $15... but then, that's not really a valid comparison. Or $100 CNB Domes and $200 Full Featured DVRs, but then thats not really a valid comparison to fleabay. -

IR test - $5 ebay, Bosch EX12, Raytec RM100-50, MIR1000 etc
rory replied to mike_va's topic in Security Cameras
Raytec Fusion White LEDs, the 50-50 and 3 of the 100-50, the 50-50 is still installed but they never installed 1 of the 100's, and the other 2 were taken down primarily because they decided they didnt want the bright light in the yard .. guess security is not priority number one there -
They seemed to forget that analog uses CMOS also.

I got a couple of their 100 fusion White LEDs sitting in a box somewhere if you know anyone that wants them cheap. Its a clients not mine but they should be willing to sell them for alot less than they cost new .. which is an arm and a leg. -

BTW the EX12 is their smallest IR and is only meant for things like front entrances and other small areas. Pity Extreme still doesn't make their gear cause they would put Waytec to shame -
Who am I kidding- I need a power supply box
rory replied to shockwave199's topic in General Digital Discussion
an old laptop power supply should be enough to power several of those cameras .. whats the current draw on them? I have a 2A plug in adapter here that has my 4 cameras plus the EX26LED IR .. And when I test cameras I regularly put the TDNs on them I do power the big IR cameras individually though when I test, they draw around 1-2A. Get an altronix if you are going to get a box. They are solid. -
Thanks tried it out from desktop to laptop .. the mic did work but huge lag .. then tried an MP3 file but never got it to stream .... went back to mic couldn get it to stream again, its like where did the network settings go, the ports etc ... client side just cant connect anymore ... anyway a little more complicated than I want ... I rather not mess around with codecs etc, just has to work and be basic. The client wont have a clue how to use VLC and neither do I really .. and they wont pay me to teach them and ... anyway ... thanks for the tip, maybe have a go at VLC another time. I wonder if I can setup skype to auto answer?

outdoor camera - strange "box"
rory replied to matusiam's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Just a weatherproof junction box, or gang box. They come in all shapes and sizes. If you run the cable direct into the box (without a liquid tight flex conduit) you can also get screw in wire sealers for the 1/2" or 3/4" holes in the box which help seal water from getting inside - instead of caulking the holes. -

my 500watt dusk to dawn rocks .. but I imagine it costs alot to run - i dont pay for it Your camera will likely see more with IR light than a Spotlight, and definitely more than white LED. -
Yeah but no feds in this country, and besides cell phone users are causing interference with other devices too .. plus just being plain annoying .. oh hang on my cell is ringing ..

If you are upgrading to PSS 4.05, the PSS 4.04.6 Device.xml file will not work by default. The only change is a new field called HttpPort - add this into each DVR in your old Device.xml file and then it should work, otherwise expect to add all your devices back in manually. If you have alot of devices, open your old Device.xml in notepad and replace the following: replace manufacturer=" with HttpPort="" manufacturer=". Then just copy that Device.xml file to the new PSS 4.05 path. For 32-channel DVRs use version PSS 4.04.6 (or later, eg. 4.05) or you may experience issues with Device config, eg. no settings for cameras 17-32.

Not yet, there is no updated 2.608 firmware. I am trying 2.608 on a 32 channel DVR which keeps changing from 16 way view to 32 way view ... to see if it makes a difference. If it does then I may just go back to the original firmware when I can realize it from the seller.
-
Another thing, if you had a previous version and upgraded to 4.05, uninstall the older version then delete the entire folder and reinstall 4.05.

At this picture, a Surveillance camera or something else?
rory replied to Zirong's topic in Security Cameras
No but thats called a bad paint job ... didnt even wipe off the paint as it dripped all over that ceiling mount motion detector -
Device config does lock up sometimes especially with slow connections. Its a separate ActiveX they use for that. I plan to make a program just for that one of these days
-
Also try running PSS with XP SP3 Compatibility.
-
I just tried a 32 channel on XP and no issues, tested 4.04.0 and 4.04.6 same thing. What version of Win 7 is it and what are the PC Specs? I dont have Win 7 here to test right now but the PC specs might make a difference.

if you have 2 metal ladders, put one 3/4 way to that chair on the left side, and one same distance on the right, make sure they are both focused the same, although sometimes that is impossible with 2.8mm and some cameras/lenses. Your nuvico was closer to 4mm, which makes a difference. You could zoom this in more then it will be a little easier to focus - wider you go the harder the focus at far objects.

GeoVision 8.4 is both the NVR and DVR now, you can choose to install it as an NVR at the beginning of installation. So just download 8.4 and you will be set. Be warned though you will need a super computer, 8.4 is heavy. -
Altronix HubWayLD162CD active (amplified) UTP transceiver hub with integral camera power transmits UTP video, RS422/RS485 data and power over a single CAT-5 or higher structured cable. Unit provides 16 camera channels in a space saving 1U EIA 19" rack mount chassis which may be rack, wall or shelf mounted. Video transmission range is up to 3000 ft. (0.57 mile) max. per channel. Units are compatible with AC and/or DC fixed or PTZ cameras when utilizing Altronix HubWayAv (16 included), HubWayDv or HubWayDvi video balun/combiners. In addition, the unit features individually selectable 24VAC or 28VAC PTC protected outputs with surge suppression Wondering if its any good and how far the power runs can be? Was going to use an Altronix PSU anyway, and cat5 / multipair so figured might as well look at something that saves space at the same time.
